72 Challenger R/T/A

I still have to replace the early pics from before the Moparnuts server switch. My internet's been actin up over ther holidays but the wife called earlier today and said the tech came by and fixed the wire. Give me a little while and I'll get them back up.

airplane thing I've got going now too... But this is a Mopar board so I'll spare you the gory details.

its not the one in the barn is it?????[smilie=2:[/quote]

No thats Mark's Cessna. Family deal kinda thing.

Mine is based on a set of Rand Robinson KR-1 plans. It will be 14' long with a 20' wingspan and use a 2600cc VW Type 4 engine modified for aircraft use. I already have a stock 2ltr Type 4 (as well as a Porsche 914 5spd) lying around the garage for a sand rail buggy project idea that I later can-x'd (shipping a frame to PR $$$$[smilie=2: ). Well I've been wanting to build a plane for a while so when I found this one where I could use the engine I already had I said "what the hell" and got the plans. I figure I can build the engine here and start the rest of the big construction of the fuselage and wings etc... when I get back to the US in about a year.

Here's a couple of links for you info junkies:

PM me if you want more details, I don't want to get the R/T/A post too far off topic. If you guys want me to I could put a post about this plane in the General Admission section.

BTW: I'm trying to replace all the old pics I had at the beginning of this post. The computer I had them on got labotomized and is at the HP Service Center right now getting repaired. I know I made a CD of the pics but I havent been able to find it yet.

Maybe DCF can come up with something back in the files from before the move?:hmmm:

I have the pics but no real way to track them down.
Any hints at filenames? That would at least get me looking in the right area.

There are thousands of files...

I tried tracking some down last week and I figured out why we lost them - the old database just has absolutely no record of an attachment.

promise me you will at least drive your finished r/t/a before you plant your ass in a plane powered by a fuggin vw!!!!!!!!!!!!! :helpme: [smilie=2:
lol j/k i love the look of the kit plane and hope it comes together nicely for you. better get a top notch fuel/ignition system on that vw engine so you dont stall out and pull a John Denver :naughty:

John who??? Never heard of 'im:toot:

The goal is to have the R/T/A driveable by this summer. Maybe make the trip to Sarnia for the Nuts Nats with it if all goes well.:helpme:

In other words, the Mopar still has priority over the bug with wings.:crap:

Ok I got the early post pics fixed thanks to DCF's help. You should be able to see them all now. I also went back and fixed all the mixed up smileys while I was at it.

Here's a couple more pics I forgot to add earlier from my trip to PA.

Just got finished wading thru this thread..... Wow.:shifty: Coming along very nicely.:)

The pics look better than the real deal. It's gotta get a little worse (trunk, drop offs, mini-tub and both quarters all cut out AND replaced) before I'm ready to say it's on the upward swing.

Thanks for the compliment though. That means a lot coming from someone who puts out work like you do.

I picked up a set of workable 70 bezels Ebag a while back that will work for a driver.

Hang onto those cause if nothing else they'll bring ridicoulous money right now on Egay.

Minor parts update:

I got a set of decent driver quality front side marker lights off Ebag for $53. They were mailed out sometime this week so they should be getting to Mark soon.

I also purchased the last of the required sheetmetal for the rust repair on the R/T/A.
The parts were:
- Passenger side Quarter Panel
- Right trunk floor
- Left trunk floor
- Passenger side trunk floor drop off
- Passenger side outer wheel house

I got it all from the same place as before. Auto Parts Specialties I think it was (these pills are killing my memory...). They told me that they would ship the pieces out no later than Monday since both of the trunk floors were backordered. As it turns out, when I talked to Mark on Wednesday, the parts had already ARRIVED on Monday! Based on my past and present dealings with this company I'm adding them to my "Good Guy" list.

While I was talking to Mark we discussed when in April would be a good time to stop by to work on the R/T/A again. It's looking like 18-25 April for round two of the Road and Track Attack (R/T/A;) ) project marathon.

Any nearby Nuts are welcome to drop in to check it out and/or lend a hand while I'm in town. PM me for details on how to get there. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get over to NJ again since I'm only taking one week off this time.

I told Mark I'd help him out with his 67 Mustang fastback while I was there but the Chally will be getting most of my available time. It just means I gotta work faster and for longer hours to make adequate progress. If you kept up with my last visit in September you'll know that won't be easy to do!

The plan is for me to fly in to Newark, NJ and then head over to Millville, PA around the 18th of April and fly back on April 25th. Anyone wanting to check it out between 19-24 April is welcome to stop by. Let me know if you need directions and phone numbers and I'll PM you with the info.:bravo:

Be warned though, If you get too close you may unexpectedly find tools in your hands and dirt under your fingernails. ;) :shifty: :giggedy:

Well, I got my airplane tickets (18-25 APR) but fricken Priceline (sucks!) screwed me over on the initerary. They have me flying on the 18th to Chicago to get to Newark  and then they have me landing in NJ on the 19th.[smilie=l:  :naughty: That'll cut at least half a day out of my available time so I'm gonna have to burn the midnight oil to make up for it.:doubt:

Hey Cap'n Kirk!:finger: [smilie=k:
