Well, I got my airplane tickets (18-25 APR) but fricken Priceline (sucks!) screwed me over on the initerary. They have me flying on the 18th to Chicago to get to Newark  and then they have me landing in NJ on the 19th.[smilie=l:  :naughty: That'll cut at least half a day out of my available time so I'm gonna have to burn the midnight oil to make up for it.:doubt:

Hey Cap'n Kirk!:finger: [smilie=k:[/quote]Similar thing happened to me once flying from Michigan to Oregon they sent me from Detroit to Atlanta, Georgia to Portland:wtf: Figure that one out:doh:

Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Los Angeles are all major hubs for the airlines. Lots and lots of connecting flights meet at these points, then the hops out to the smaller airports go from there.

It's not really cost effective to have a run from Puerto Rico to Newark, but from Puerto Rico to a major hub and then everyone fans out from there makes lots of sense.

But yeah, an Atlanta or Dallas stop would probably make more sense coming from the islands.

There was a special on a few weeks ago about how william shatner changed the world. Mabeye he shold try to change it back.

hope you get to get alot done on your car. I still need to check on those headlight bezels but I think he still has them. Did you ever recieve the ones you bought off e-gouge?

That may be but Continental, as well as many other airlines, has a major hub in Newark. Me and Aaron usually get direct filghts on Continental from San Juan to Newark non-stop. Priceline just stuck me on a fucked up flight and won't work with me on trying to get a better flight. "You bought it, you got it. Suck it up!" seems to be their corporate motto.

BTW: Lebaron, You should know that you are permently on my "Ignore" list and I can't see whatever you're posting.

AND I LIKE IT THAT WAY![smilie=i:

that's nothing. expedia once sent my aunt from newark to Miami, then on the way back from Miami to Detroit, to Pittsburgh, to Scranton, to Newark. Talk about a bad day.

They are actually based out of EWR (Newark Liberty International Airport), it is their headquarters.

Ditto, and I could not have said it better....:bwuhaha:

Well, I'm here in PA now and already got to work on curing the rest of the cancer on the Chally. Now before anyone asks, I didn't have my camera to take with me so I may only be able to get a few pics with my phone while I'm here. Plain and simple, phone pics suck. But that's all I got so I'm gonna make the best of it while I can.

Today I started out by getting a quick inventory of all the parts that I've been collecting to make sure they all arrived in one piece. So far so good. Next I tried to get the parts car cleaned out to see what kind of stuff came stashed in the trunk. There's a lot of good pieces that I'll be able to salvage for the good car but I had to quit before I could get too deep into it. Why? BEES and WASPS:eek: They're everywhere in there and I was having to keep running in to look and then running away when they'd come at me. I'm gonna try to get some Raid or Black Flag spray before I try and go in after those parts again.

Inside the shop we cut out the entire trunk floor and both drop offs. We also cut part of the passenger quarter panel out and will get the rest of it gone tomorrow. We had a short day today and didn't have a lot of time to get as much done as I wanted to. Hopefully we will be able to make a LOT more progress tomorrow.

PS: Anyone wanting to stop by and check out the car and hang out, either reply here or PM me. My cell phone gets no signal out here whatsoever. I'll be able to check the web after the day's done and I'm about to go to sleep so don't expect a speedy reply.

Thursday 20 April:
Mark's a great guy for letting me stay here but it's frickin cold in the basement! I didn't crawl out from under the covers till about 10:30 this morning.

Anyway, we went after the rest of the metal in the trunk getting it prepped, ground, straightened, primered and rustproofed where you can't get to it after it's welded. That one sentance took a minute to write but most of the day to accomplish. Mark quit at dinner time but I went back out and got the new floors fitted and drilled for the welding tomorrow. I also hacked off the outer wheel house on the passenger side. We won't cut the inner wheel house till we get the driver side reattached. I don't want to remove any more of the rear structure unitl we put some back. There's only two small sections on each side holding the tail panel and the tops of the quarter panels at this point.

It wasn't all work today. I spotted a groundhog in Mark's field running around playing his groundhog games or whatever. I pointed him out to Mark, who then grabbed for his rifle when he saw it. He steadied the gun on the hood of his truck and squeezed off a 250 yard shot and dropped the cute little bugger. When we went up the hill to check it out, we saw that the bullet went right up the 'ole pooper and exited somewhere around the chest area pulling most of the intestines and organs outside as it passed through it's loveable fuzzy wuzzy carcass. Then we tossed the little fucker back down his hole...[smilie=i:

Nice progress, but you have to work more and sleep/play less, you're on limited time here......

What, no groundhog stew????

MM,
I wish I could say for sure but my goal is to try to get it running by the Nuts Nats in August. The only way that's going to happen is if Mark starts working on the car more while I'm away. So far all the major progress on the car has been done when I've been here in PA to work on it with him.

Don,
After that hosed up flight I was seriously lacking in the sleep department and couldn't have gotten up any earlier if I tried. The cold down here kept me from arguing with myself about it anyway.

If you want some ground hog stew you're welcome to come over and yank the whole bloody mess outta the hole. Either that or we can pop off a fresh one for ya.[smilie=i:

Groundhogs are kinda tough I hear. Ive been looking at some of the rabbits running across the yard and fingering the trigger on my 22- now thats some good eatin. You sure have a ways to go on that chally but its gonna be worth it.:giggedy:

Short update. It's 1 AM and I'm fricken tired.

Mark was gone most of the day so we only had a few hours to get any welding done. The trunk floor is about 80% finished. I spent most of the day just cleaning parts and getting everything set up so we could just jump on the welding whenever Mark got back. After dinner I got a ride into town and picked up a bunch of tune up type stuff.

New stuff from Auto Zone:
Spark plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, coil, ballast resistor (4 blade to replace the 2 blade), voltage regulator, energy drink, battery, ECU (installed but not hooked up yet), electronic ignition distributor (not installed yet) and a lame service manual (Chiltons sucks nowadays for the older stuff anymore but it's better than nothing).

After putting everything except the new distributor on, I turned the key to see if I got anything. It just clicked. That's better than the dead silence Mark got when he tried to turn it over last time. I'm thinking it may just be the starter switch on the inner fender now. I was too tired to troubleshoot it anymore so I called it a night.

I'm turning in now since I'm going JY hunting early in the morning and back to Auto Zone later for some more bits.

Oh yea, I sanded that gold argent shit off the back tail panel and one of the tail light housings and then repainted them both flat black. It looks a hell of a lot better that way. I can even learn to live with it for a while until I can find a decent 70 tailpanel.

I'll edit the post later when I have enough energy to download the pics off my phone. It takes a while but it's all I got at the moment.

Mid-day and still no more welding done yet. :(

At least I did score some goodies at the JY this morning. I got a new type small alternator and small starter. I also got another 2bbl carby, the connector plugs to convert the points to elect ign (ECU, ballast and dist) as well as a ginormous radiator out of a full size dodge van. I may have to trim the opening in the radiator support about 1.5" to 2" on each side to clear the entire core.
