70 Sport Satellite build

I think it's cool, got kinda a road warrior thing to it.

I got a set of old Ansens on my car and I hit them with some Mother's polish (by hand for about 2 hours) and they look pretty good. Not a "high" shine but not dull either. I've always loved those, they just look right on those cars.

I like the shiny wheels gooder. :D

On a black car with black wheels and dog-dish hubcaps, it sorta overwhelms my eyes unless there are white-letter tires or trim rings to break it up a little.

This opinion has presented for your edification by the Jass Federation of Biased Dickwads.

The TT's WILL go back on the car with some 275's, but for this summer this is the look. Jass is right on the black being a bit oppressive, but I think that after the wheel arch moldings go back on, that'll help visually define things, and the caps will look better. Now if I could get this fucking cable kickdown adjusted correctly, I'd be in business. It's like bad sex. Adjust in, adjust out, it's still unhappy. Maybe if I threw money at it my results would change.:D Worked for the ex wife...

Do what I finally did: get your rocks off, roll over, and go to sleep. At least one of us was happy. :D

The car went on it's first truly legal road outing today, and outside of popping the power valve, it performed flawless. I'm ecstatic. My folks are in town, so dad came over this morning, and we bled and adjusted the brakes, replaced the voltage regulator, then washed it, fired it up, and went to the Hot August Nights show on the south end of town. The car literally drives better than it should. The front suspension is factory tight, the brakes work perfect, the shocks are all good, and the steering is excellent. An unrestored car wearing nearly all of it's factory suspension and brake components shouldn't drive this well. Every time I look at this car I'm thankful that I found such a gem.:giggedy:

Awesome! I too, was shocked at the great ride and good handling from an old stock B. I really should put an anti sway bar on though...I have the bar. :)
Glad it worked so well for you!

After driving the car steady for a few days, and observing owners of finished cars at the show this week, I have a new focus with this car. After changing several fuel filters and still finding sediment in the fuel, I now know the entire fuel system has to be replaced. Now, I save money for a new tank, line, pump, carb, and intake. My carb is a pieced together pile of junk, and it acts accordingly. With the cam the engine has along with the headers, an intake would most likely help me a lot.

During Hot August Nights, I've been watching how owners treat their cars. Everyone with dark colors are almost nervously polishing their cars, and have no time to enjoy the show. It's dusty here in northern Nevada. People with light, non metallic colors simply get out, shut the door, and walk away knowing that the car will look great all day. I'm very seriously considering making this a white car. I really fell in love with a 68 Coronet that was white with a blue interior. I just have to be realistic. Living where I live, a black car isn't a wise idea.

Black is not my favorite color for a car I'd be driving a lot...unless it's been sprayed with the BEST or hardest clear known to man...that's the trick with dark colored cars...good premium clear coat that is hard as dimanonds..shows no scratches or swirl marks and can wiped down without fear of tiny scratches showing up.Even then with good clear there still is a tiny bit of maintenance to keep it up...
My favorite white is Corvette Classic white with platinum pearl added to it...Now that's a really nice color...the very poorest white I've ever shot is the Chry arctic white (especially the 70's arctic white)...talk about a boring color...I wouldn't shoot a refrigerator that color.:p

Holy shit! I just figured out how to bring this back from the dead. Hey DCF, is there any way to just add the stuff from my Continuation thread to the end of this one? That way I have just one buildup thread. If not, no sweat. I'll just add to this one from now on.:)

Just read this thread, sounds like a really nice ride. Congrats! :bravo: I want an old B to cruise in too but I gotta finish one first.

This afternoon I managed to get all of the trim off the car, and now the bumpers are all that remain. I have a litte bit of mud to sling onto the roof, but I had to bring the filler can in the house to get warmed up a bit, so that'll have to wait until tomorrow.:bravo:

Are you leaving the taillight panel the contrasting silver? I really like that look on the black car.

I am. That's the original argent, and it's way too nice to touch. The car is actually going to be white now. With the argent and abundant bright trim on white, it should be attractive, but nicely understated, especially with body colored steelies and poverty caps.

Buddy of mine has a 70 RR that is EW1 white with a B5 interior and EW1 white rims and stainless "Plymouth Division" caps.....sweet looking car, but with all your extra trim I think it will look SHARP!!!:2thumbs:

Can you get me a picture?:helpme:
I finally got the holes for the vinyl top trim welded up, and today added a bit of glaze over those, the lead roof seam, and a couple of waves in the roof. The passenger's side is done as well, so if I get off work in good time tomorrow, I'll tape the windows up and prime the roof again. Little by little....
