What are you working on?

I'm working on rewiring some of the nitrous kit on the datsun. We installed the FJO progressive controller yesterday. Well, Jim did and I shot the shit while he did. I'm upgrading some of the wiring related to the solenoids to a thicker gauge, and swapping the fuel solenoid that I suspect to be bad out with another one. It's amazing how long it takes to do some stuff like this when you don't get in a hurry. It's also amazing how relaxed of a process it is when you're not in a hurry.

New side project for me. I'm doing king pins , front springs. trany tail shaft seal, torque tube seal, and rear springs on a '51 buick special! I will be posting some pics soon. I just need to find the time to get out to the garage and take some. Chrissie is still on 14 hr shifts through the weekends so I'm playin with the kidos most of the day! Speeking of the kids, Brian (My 6 month old) is doing awesome sence his surgery! He is on the verge of crawling! He scoots backwards and gets stuck against stuff. That makes him mad! :D Once he figures out how to go forward I'm going to have my hands full!

Having the rear springs out will make the torque tube and tranny work a lot easier. Drivetrain work on those can be a real pain otherwise.

Good to hear that Brian is doing so well Stretch. My grand-daughter will be 18 mo on the 14th and she is a real mover and smart to boot. She knows what she wants and will do what she has to to get at it.

Yah. I knew that. The last time I did one of these I think the hardest part was setting the tension on the torque ball.

Thanks for the toughts 71dusterman. your grand-daughter sounds like my daughter. Carlee is sharp as a whip and not at all shy!

As for what I got done yesterday, I cleaned the house, Had dinner ready when Chrissie got home, Took a call from a friend whos Chevy tracker died on the side of the highway about 25 miles away, Hooked up my trailer, headded out to help Tina, Lost the right front brake on my truck, Had my ass suck seat on the way home with one front brake and a loaded trailer, Checked into dead tracker, striped front brakes on the buick, pulled the front end down to the kingpins, went in at 9:00 P.M. took a shower and ate a cool dinner that I spent most of the day making so I could have a nice hot meal with my sweetie. All of this went down at about 5:30 P.M. when Chrissie got home from work.

The water pump spilled it's guts on the Chevy tracker, It smells like dead engine for sure. There is no coolant in the rad, and she spins over with the sound of no compression. I first thought she lost the timming chain. I popped the valve cover off and spun her over but the cams turn and the timming marks all line up. I pulled the plugs to test the compression and had to stop. My compression gauge set is at work. What ever happened, it's not going to be cheep. It sounds exactly the same when cranking with the spark plugs in it as it does with them out. Not a good thing for a single mom with two kids and two or three jobs doing her best to make ends meet.

With the cost of parts for Chevy trackers, she might just be better off looking for a differant car.

Yah, I'm hatin' it for Tina!

I told her not to buy the damned thing. You know that. Every repair part for those Trackers is expensive and I tried to explain that from a parts-guy perspective but she bought it anyhow.

I just called Auto Value, and running it through the best account there, it's $3,344.99 plus a $210 core for a reman engine. [smilie=2: If that one can't be fixed, she's screwed. She didn't pay that much for the car.

I'm going to test compression tonight. That will most likly lead to a leak down test. My gut tells me it's soggy milk toast though.

I too told her not to buy it. I told here They are good cars untill they break. I don't work on them too often. mostly because they are reliable. The rest of the time it's because the parts are so pricey most people say screw it I'll jun k it. If it isn't that they are just to rusty to bother fixing.
