Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

these door hinges would not have gone in the small one either, these were just wet & a little wire wheelin after..........20220102_135407.jpg
Weight was too much on them, had to do it in 2 batches, 8lb limit on the tumbler.

thats the same HF unit im using, i also spy my old gun to the left that i still use ALOT

so your doing it wet and dry?....ive never had much luck with the "shaker" itself so if youve got part numbers to the media and the "wet" your using i will have to buy some

Green 1/4" plastic 43204A 2 lbs 30.99
brown plastic 1/4" #21913 2lbs 30.99

dry shine 43204B 21.99 2 lbs

Mine came with 4lbs green & 4 lbs dry, I went through the green quick, bought 4 lbs brown & just mixed it in.

In th wet I also throw in a teaspoon of eastwoods metal wash, that helps cut the grease.

That cheap gun has done a lot of painting & priming, I had 3 more expensive ones before that & 2 are trashed & 1 I have marked primer gun & it's been so long I don't remember why?

Did one more round on the back side, this time after I sanded I just went with filler putty, enough is enough, still a bit nasty, but if someone wants to lay on the ground when I open the door to check it out more power to em!20220209_133844.jpg
Good side I hope close enough to finish in blocking primer, need it on the car for the final match up to the fender. 20220209_133907.jpg

that was my first gun set into the "modern" world, i got it as a set with a touchup gun, and honestly..LOVE them both, ive replaced the cups on both for aluminum, and have a "kickstand" for the big one that folds up and hugs the cup

ive got a brand new finex gun ive yet to get a chance/reason to break out

thanx for the input ill have to get some ordered and try it out...ive got plenty of bike stuff as well as lloyd hardware that needs love

I think finex was my first gun, got it at the PPG paint store way back, not sure what the second one was, that I had marked primer & chucked when I redid the garage from my mini sheet metal shop to full on hobby shop!
I have another eastwood gun & I can not remember why I shelved it, just pulled it down, looks pretty clean I do clean them well after use, but the one I'm using & the cup are stained a bit after a car & a half!
this is the "shelved" one............20220210_113454.jpg
Mine was in the kit too, never used the touch up gun much, but when I redid the 73 I tried to shoot clear with it & it shot blobs out , mann was I upset, there's still white dots on that quarter panel from that.

On the media, if your tumbler is same as mine, buy at least 4 lbs, 2 doesn't go far.

the tumblers the HF version...the BIG boy, ive run various media thru it with...pisspoor results so it got shelved years ago...the only good thing i found it for was floatbowl bodys, but as seen by what youve done its clearly been my media

that finex looks real similar to mine, tho id suspect mines a newwer model of some kind as its only 3-4 years old..still in the box, it was bought to do the crown vic thats on hold..it was part of my "you want this job done then your buying me these as part of the payment"

as for the eastwood mini, i use it ALOT..in fact ive used it enough to learn a few tricks with it..it likes the paint thinned a lil extra to spray nice, i use it exclusively for "tight spots, jambs, window lips and stuff like that prior to a shoot with the big boy, i also like using it on motorcycle stuff as it wastes less paint with the much narrower fan..all said ive probably run about the same amount of paint thru both of them...and the big boy laid down quite a few coats(epoxy, primer and paint) on a short bus!!!! on top of everything else its been thru

Eastwood branded that gun, but I'm sure someone made it for them.

On the tumbler, nuts & bolts go through pretty quick, the bigger parts with paint & rust take longer, while I'm doing a batch I go through once in a while & pull the good pieces out , leave what needs more & add a few more pieces , when I had a lot to do it would be running 24/7 for a couple of days till all pieces were done.

On the media, probably can't use the part #'s but I haven't checked amazon for better prices, eastwood ain't cheap!

Good day today, should have gone out earlier, anywhoo I raised up one side of the tarps, could use a little more head room but it allowed me to work without taking them off the car.20220210_133803.jpg
Considering its been sitting out through rain & snow not too much flash rust........20220210_132318.jpg20220210_132334.jpg
So I decided to clean small areas, get them really clean, then I heated up the metal with the heat gun, spayed the primer & then again heated till dry. 20220210_141250.jpg
Got 3 sections done in about 2 hours, tomorrow I'll try & get out earlier, 2 more decent days, maybe I can get most of the middle protected for the rest of the winter? 20220210_145803.jpg

Hope you didn't order yet, just went on amazon, 5lbs of the brown for 51 & change.

It's raytech 41-141

Also saw 4.7lbs of the green for the same price!

nah ill be lucky if i have anything ordered before the end of the month honestly

the gun itself is NOT an eastwood unit in fact its a finishline, tho i forget what bigger umbrella its under, pretty sure it is/was devilbis?...id have to go digging for sure, dunno about yours but mines the early set that was stamped "finishline"...for being "cheep" guns i dont have a single bad thing to say about em aside from being realy unhappy with the stock cups, but thats just me i prefer aluminum/stainless

Yep for a cheap set it's been great, already lasted longer & shot more paint than the other 3 combined, if I had even a clue on how to shoot right the 73 could have been near perfect, it was user errors that made the problems!
I guess for my second full paint job it wasn't that terrible?

Still waiting for fedback from the guy in the UK who bought it, I know it got into port a few weeks ago, maybe he's that pissed at me & not speaking to me?

Got a good portion of the bottom done today, 1 more nice day wondering how much of the nasty parts I can do mechanically , or figure out a blasting enclosure, that may have to wait till spring but would make it a lot easier.

last fairly easy spot is the front pan...........20220211_154106.jpg
couple of the nasty areas.............20220211_154157.jpg
+ the patch I still have to make for the trunk pan.............20220211_154133.jpg

worst case, you can always just use some GOOD duct tape and make mini booths as big or as small as you want, its why pvc is my goto

Got in a couple of hours today, few more small spots to clean but I think I can prime the top section & the shock tower brace tomorrow, then I think I'll roll the car on the other side to tackle the bottom, well then it will be the top!!!20220216_141807.jpg

Looks like I won't have to set up the big blasting tent, got the top finished & primed & started cleaning the passenger side , it was not as bad as the drivers side, just have to flip the car now so I can get the bottom side of both frame rails! 20220217_145724.jpg
Only worked on the bottom about an hour & put a good dent in the cleanup. 20220217_145805.jpg

5lbs of media came from amazon today, looks like the same stuff so I saved 10 bucks & got a bonus lb.
Probably another 10 on shipping.
