Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

Well started to move outside & messed with the hood a few weeks ago, seems I missed the underside of the skin when i flooded it with por 15(at least near the seams) decided to cut out a little piece where the worst bubbles were(about 4 above this area, a few more along that ridge, all just above those little dings) tapped on the hood with a body hammer & quite a bit of loose rust made it's way out the hole, weather turned on me, so thats how she sit's now, waiting for my next brain(y) storm to attack this problem!

In putting off anything important, just not into it yet, I continue to mess with the steering unit, was joking with the guys bout clear coating it, now I may actually do it, I got out the heavy duty tools & started grinding away the crappy casting job, wirewheeled the piss out of it & started using sanding rolls on it !

Took a small section up in grit three times with the rolls, dang it looks pretty good, so i will waste a ton more hours & do the whole thing! [smilie=e: Rich.

Hmm , the shock mounts, I've already filled the bucket so save your tears, seems I bought more scrap metal off ebay, right mounts but...........
left, one of the first ebay wrong set, the almost clean one is my good one, left is the new scrap metal!

Seems the bolts are bent down(or up if they mount the other way?) on both, the one I need being the worst! [smilie=e: Rich.

K, the steering unit is cleared, but really didn't come out that good, oh well it was fun anyway! [smilie=e:
got the tent cover back on today, untarpped the 73 & went to work on the hood, she bubbled up along the top ridge, bout 6 or 7 bubbles, when I wire wheeled it I only found pinholes under some of the bubbles, some were just dings??? so I cleaned it up real good & proceded to weld over every ding & hole!

So after a few rounds a welding , burning through grinding, welding etc etc I got lazy & pulled out the leading stuff! [smilie=e:

If I get time tomorrow I'll shoot the skin with some epoxy & stand that sucker up & flood it with por15 again, I'll fill that SOB solid if thats what it takes! [smilie=e: that & the trunk lid are holding up the works big time! [smilie=e:

You're doing really good Rusty. Just keep plugging away at it and the end will be in sight. Every piece you fix is one that will last you another 30 years. [smilie=e:

Nothing earth shattering but i eeked out a few hours on the car, wet sanded on the fender a bit(removing my drips in the clear) started tapping out the nuts on the front end, got one hood hinge mounted, broke a bolt on the other side(trying to clean out the threads,no tap that size) Today I painted my nuts............................

& bolts! [smilie=e: well I should say some of them, lets say i put a dent in what needs to be done, I can at least hang a few parts while I sort out the rest of the hardware!

Got another batch a hardware done today & tapped out the nuts for the steering unit, thats on, one down 8,493,954. to go! [smilie=e:

gonna be slow a while, steal a few hours here & there, too much REAL LIFE going on this time of year! gonna be hard to take, this is when things should be movin fast! [smilie=e: ahh well fall will be here soon!

Unit kinda lost the shine after i cleared it, but should look fine burried down there(well if I ever get the rest of the pieces that cover it up on!) [smilie=e:

That's lookin good Rusty! [smilie=b: [smilie=e:

I'm shooting for a August / September completion date for my R/T/A. When I make the road trip from PA to Jacksonville, FL I'll have to give you a holler so we can go for a little cruise when I pass by your neck of the woods. Maybe I can also catch up with some of the Jersey Nuts for a Fall MoparNuts Nats. (WTN 2.5??? [smilie=e: )

Here's the major work for the last month! [smilie=r:
hood latch brackets light brackets & hood hinges, one upper control arm stuck in place!
