Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

Got the corners & the nuts welded, not pretty but functional, & where it will be no one will see it for another 30 years! 20230616_132334.jpg
Since the guide was just lying there unpainted, don't know how I missed that I figured can't go on till the paint dries on the other parts so I gave it a coat! 20230616_134748.jpg
A tad rough but ready to do its job, just have to stick in the rubber stop.20230616_140809.jpg

Got the exposed metal blasted & hit it with a light coat of primer, shipping box should be here Wednesday & then off it goes to Arizona! 20230618_135829.jpg
She's gonna be black & I hope a tad better looking than this! 20230618_135916.jpg
Ordered another batch of doohickies, door jamb pillar seals, 2 more window cranks, door lock latch rods, which I swear I already ordered but can't find any paperwork? dome light lens, wood grain insert for console plate & quarter glass to door window seals & I'm trying the cheapie dip stick (chrome one) I think that's what I got for the other car see if it matches up when it gets here?

Got the rubber bumper in the down stop , pretty tight for my rough hole. 20230619_133442.jpg
This is all you see when in the car, call it good to go!20230619_135516.jpg
So dum dum is getting the manifold ready, cleaned all the mating surfaces, may need some goop under my gasket, there's a little pitting here & there? 20230619_142457.jpg
Got most of the gunk off the bottom of the intake. 20230619_144952.jpg

So I pull out the new stat & housing, paint em all up & got to put the bolts in & the new one is so much thicker than the old bolts were too short, found on perfect one & 2 longer ones, but they bottomed out before getting tight, so instead of running down to the hardware store I sat there with my little bench grinder for quite a while to shorten one bolt! 20230619_162149.jpg
Now I'm pretty sure I have the stat in the right direction, can button that up when the paint dries on the new bolts!
Old one only fit in the housing with that side up, am I correct on the direction? 20230619_145605.jpg

So after I got the hardware in for the quarter window I decided to stop, I just ordered new wipers for the front edge & looking at the one I put in you can't get to the bottom rivets with the glass in............20230619_133811.jpg
Now on that one I may get lucky I can slide the old rubber up & down maybe I can just slide in the new?? 20230619_135810.jpg

So I guess the stat is the first question, is that the correct direction?
2nd is to see if anyone has an old wire clip laying around, I think it points up & is for 2 wires? 20230619_153034.jpg
3rd is I'm short 1 strut rod locking pin, if you have great, if not a supplier I can go to?
4th is I'm going to need some thread locker when I put the motor & tranny together, what color or colors should I order?

Another good news bad news day, one of my back orders came, now all I need is the leaf spring shackle bushings & I can (if I ever get my axles back) assemble the rear end.
Sway bar bushings20230620_140328.jpg
Then I decided to tackle the freeze out plugs, now the ones I pulled out were not as deep as 2 different howto videos showed. 20230620_125409.jpg
Just to be safe I put a light coat of copper permatex on em.........20230620_142835.jpg
2 to the front look about as recommended, the rear (on the right) I may have pounded once too much, I hope it's not a problem? 20230620_145302.jpg
have to reverse for a moment, I punched holes in a couple before they would budge....... 20230620_125425.jpg
& there was some nasty lookin stuff in there I was going to dig out the power washer, but I brought the hose over first & I think that was enough. flushed it out in every direction I could hit till it ran clean, then pulled out the heat gun & dried it all out, cause it will be sitting quite a while longer. 20230620_132628.jpg
& that's where it goes bad, the plugs on the heads are smaller & they had ONE in the kit, I need 5, so I'm short 4, hope I can buy those separately, I am getting a little upset that about half the stuff I get is screwed up!
So I taped one side off got it primed...........20230620_150443.jpg
& painted. Taped off all the holes in the other side & will wait on the rest of the plugs! 20230620_153243.jpg

Wild mans at it again, picked this up for 2500 & it came with 1000 worth of frame caps, at least he built a lower dolly this time............. 20230621_142952.jpg
But to get his 8 to 10 K for it he'll be working hard, some nasty repairs to remove on both sides!20230621_143006.jpg20230621_143015.jpg
& other than that I'm just hangin with the grandkids today!

Dash pad is boxed, did my best to protect the ends, cardboard & tons of bubble wrap, should ship out Friday, my son will help with the shipping setup & he works from home fridays.

So I guess the stat is the first question, is that the correct direction?
Yes, the "pill" has to be in the hot water to open. The stat itself sits in either the intake or the housing, depending on which one has a recess for it to fit in.

3rd is I'm short 1 strut rod locking pin, if you have great, if not a supplier I can go to?
A box of various sized roll pins costs about $10 at Harbor Freight.

Just like my 10 freeze out plugs, extra stuff I'll never use, Pretty sure this is the last car this ole boy will do!
When it's done I'll make a list of extras for you guys to pick from, we'll do a pay the shipping & there yours deal, I have to clean out most of this crap before I croak, I don't think my boys will ever get into this?
