72 Challenger R/T/A

Awesome! :giggedy:

Thats the same color I'm gonna paint my 408 Magnum Stroker. [smilie=i:

Got a little bit done with the dash switches before I have to head off to another appointment for my back. :doubt:

I redrew the switch holes with the desired offset and cut them out with the dremel.

The next pic may be hard to look at for some resto purists...[smilie=f:

I chopped the 70 switch panel to pieces to seperate the top and bottom switch pairs. I already sold my 71-74 switch panel back at the Houston Mopar show last year or I would have used that one instead. But this is what I had handy so... I trimmed the plastic as close as I could while leaving the switch holes and the mounting posts intact. Then I cut the metal switch retainer bracket in half to match the panel. I trimmed the two legs off the bottom part of the retainer bracket as well. I'll line up the holes and then glue or epoxy the plastic pieces to the back side of the dash so the switches will be centered in the holes on the fiberglass dash.

BTW: Don't come griping to me if your signifigant other chews you out for making a mess like I did on the kitchen table...:naughty: :p

Man, it's been a while since I posted in this thread!

The only real new news I have is that someone offered me an entire trans tunnel (in a b'cuda) for free. I can have it if I just go cut it out of the car before they go crush it. I think I know what I'll be doing this friday afternoon...

Well, no luck with the floor tunnel. The guy offering it had to move the car out to the valley to get it off the property it was being stored on. He's still saving the tunnel for me, but it's going to be a while before he can get back out there and get it. :(

WOW! It's been almost a year since I last posted in this thread. That's been about how it's been since I worked on the car as well...

It's a sad day for me as I'm selling this car now. :wall::doh::( I figured I'd give you guys here first crack at the car and/or engine. I'm putting it up for sale so I can have some cash to start my own buisness when I retire in September.

I've got about $19K in the car and $10K in the 511 stroker. Both are unfinished but most of the parts are there to complete it. The car just needs a windshield and some under dash and tunnel metal repair as seen in the pics. I still have everyhing else for it to put it together as planned.

I'm starting out by trying to get about 80% (OBO) out of the car ($15K) and engine ($8K) due to the unfinished state of the project. I'd really like to see it go to someone that wants to complete it as I had intended to, but I'll consider parting the shell and individual parts out if there's no interest in the project as a whole.

I'm motivated to sell so I can move in September without having to haul the Chally and engine with me to CO. I haven't been around here much to check my PM's lately :shifty: so just shoot me an Email at [gomopar440 (at) yahoo.com] with any and all offers (cash, not "special favors" [smilie=f:).

I'm hanging in there. I have my good days and bad days.

Glad to hear from ya guys again.

Hey Paul, good to see you are still kicking around, sorry to hear about the back problems ( I feel your pain..literally every day), just as sad to see the project going, I really wanted to see you get thru it, but all things must eventually come to an end. Keep in touch ( I still have the same cell #)

Well, I guess this thread is out of my hands now. The new guy that I traded the Challenger to has brought it home with him to WA. I let him know he was more than welcome to stop by here and continue this therad and draw from the vast pool of Mopar knowledge here if he wants to. It'd be nice if he does as I'd really like to see the outcome. He sounded like he wanted to stay true to the R/T/A theme I was going with (w/511:giggedy: ) and was planning on using this thread for a reference.

FWIW: The car he traded me for it is a VERY clean 1997 Chevy Camaro SS built by SLP (all real F body SS's were) for Chevy. It's a 1 of 11 optioned car out of about 3K total SS's built that year. It's pretty fun to drive but is definately NOT a winter car. Any water or snow on the road can make for an interesting ride to say the least. I had to put it in 1st gear to get out of the snowy driveway on Saturday. Before I did that, it would try to swap ends even at an idle when the trans shift to 2nd. [smilie=2:
EDIT: This one isn't mine, but the first post has pics that are pretty much identical to it. http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=793563 Biggest difference I can see is that the interior on mine is cloth, not leather.

Wally, Glad to hear the cassette deck found a new permanent home. It was a neat piece. Got any pics of it installed in your 71?

Hey mr340, you still got my number? I've lost or broken a few phones since we've talked last and I don't have any Moparnuts phone numbers anymore.:doubt:

BTW: Hmmm, I wonder if there's a Chevynuts.com? :hmmm:

EDIT: On second thought, nevermind. This was the first thing that came up on Google -> http://www.bullsballs.com/chevy/truck/accessories.html :dgt:

Paul, I still have your # if it hasn't changed, when work settles down some (new computer system) I'll give you a call. BTW, nice Chebby.

Ya, same phone # still.

BTW: It's not cool to compliment another man's Chubby. I don't go that way.:dgt:

:bwuhaha:

Just got an email from the guy who got the R/T/A from me. He's currently working on installing the MP 3" rear spring relocation kit.
Here's the pics he sent me:

Nice to see some progress on the Chally.

The car belonged to a college student in CT back in the late 70's. The guy I got it from had it in NY. Don't know much else about the history on the car.
