72 Challenger R/T/A

Thanks guys. I'm just trying to make up for all of that lost time when I was stationed in PR.

BTW: Here's a small preview of what I was hinting at earlier. The lable is made of clear plastic that has a grey coating on top of it. It was engraved, cutting away the grey and exposing the clear underneath. I'm going to put a light behind it to make the letters glow. The second pic shows the backlight coming through the letters on the lable. The light I'll be using when installed is going to be blue (LED's probably) like the buttons at the bottom edge of the pic.

Thanks much. I'm glad my ideas are finally being able to be created.

This is actually my fifth Chally I've owned. I just kept notes on stuff I wanted to do to make my previous challys better. I'm trying to incorporate the best of that wish list as well as improvise wherever I can to presonalize the car.

BTW: It also helps if your stranded on a carribean island for a few years. You'll think up all kinds of nifty s#!t for future projects just to pass the time. Oh yea, and I was on some good meds during that time too...:bwuhaha:

Guess what followed me home from the San Antonio Mopar show?:toot:

No answer to your q but I need your address so I can get the slap stick & benzel out to you.Shoot me a pm & I should get it out thurs or fri. Rich.

What the old guy said, but get a decent dremmel, the cheap ones suffer from premature nuclear meltdown. Also get the good carbide bits, not the cheap knock-offs.

or, in other words, buy it at someplace OTHER than Harbor Freight.:naughty:

Even as "branded" "Dremmel's" go, there are varying degrees of quality and the cheap ones are just that, cheap.

Different topic here:

I'm very tempted to get these and just run some spacers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=290173253977&rd=1

I also found some Sumitomo HTR Z's in 245/45ZR17's for $63/ea and 315/35ZR17's for $96/ea.

For a grand total of about $825ish ready to roll.:giggedy: I'd be giving up 20 CM in rear tire width (315 vs 335) but I can live with ONLY a 12.75" wide rear tire.:p

With the other tire wheel combo I was last looking at it was going to be at least $1700 for the wheels and about $1300 for the tires.[smilie=2: Burnouts would definately NOT be fun with those kind of prices still ringing in the back of my mind...:naughty:

Nevermind. TireRack sold out of the cheap tires and they are now discontinued....:doubt:

Slap stick has finally gone postal, sorry for the delay, but so involved in getting the 10 footer sanded out every spare mineut I get I plum forgot when I had a few oppertunities! Rich.

No problem Rich. I appreciate it a bunch.:bravo:

I haven't worked on the car for a few days. I had a few projects that needed attention around the house so that was what got my attention this weekend.

After work today I took some time to get started on the 302 heads. I scribed the intake and exhaust port sizes onto the heads using the gaskets as a template. I'll need to pull the headers off the 318 to get a better idea of the exhaust port size needed so I just started with the intake side instead. I was able to get one pair of the intake ports done before I had to quit and go and meet the wife for dinner.

I didn't get after the thin areas near the pushrod holes and the water jackets. I only took what was needed to smooth the transition from the port openings. Hopefully the rest of the porting goes as smoothly as these ports did.

I'm not expecting to get 400HP from this little 318. Just enough "Oomph" to put a grin on my face whenever I nail the throttle. [smilie=i:

I went ahead and got the tires on Ebay today. I found a good deal on a set of four but I had to take the sizes they offered in the set. Two Sumitomo HTR Z 315/35ZR17's and two 275[smilie=2:/40ZR17's for $479 (+$85s/h).:giggedy: They still have a five more sets if anyone else wants some... I'm also bidding on the 17x9 and 17x10.5 Mustang rims I posted about earlier. If I win them,:helpme: I can pick them up from Huston when I go to the Lone Star Shootout next weekend. :giggedy:

I was able to win the wheels from the Ebay auction that I posted about earlier. Now I just have to wait for the tires to get here and for me to go get the wheels in Houston. I have to work out the details with the wheel shop tomorrow in order pick them up.

Hey Rusty, the shifter showed up in the mail today. Thanks a bunch!

The shifter arm itself pivots very smoothly but the bottom detent plate is missing the springs that hold it up. when I tried to slap it to second from first it goes straight to drive. I have an idea how to fix that though. Wally sent me a shifter at about the same time as you. On that one the shifter arm is kinda loose but the detent plate and springs are fine. Between the both of them I should be able to make one very good shifter. I'll use the top chrome bezel and the main body of the shifter that I got from you and the internal springs and the plastic plate from the one I got from Wally.

I'll take some pics and let you know it all goes together when I'm done.

I've been slowed down a little with some back issues again so I haven't been out to work on the car as much lately.:doubt:

BTW: Are you still looking for some shoulder belts for your Cuda?

I did mention the spring was MIA, but like you said, with both you should be fine, I have the belts but they are faded badly, so if a decent pair shows up(cheap) I'd go for it.
Been playing mr mom for almost a week now, the wifeys back went out last fri, she's barley mobile but enjoying some of xl's perks(the pills that is:dgt: ) & some muscle relaxent. If this goes on much longer I'll gonna share the pills with her!:toot: Rich.
