What are you working on?

True, but you did the wood framing and the best body guy in the world would have problems installing metal panels over wood framing if the framing wasn't done tickety-boo.
Thank you. Dan Kempanin complimented me a few times on the wood. Coming from him, its kind of humbling. He said it was some of the nicest work he has seen and asked if I would be interested in doing more.

Here is a link to his page. There is a lot of pictures of builds
His work is super top notch.

I anchored my lift in front of the garage door when I moved here. From the start I had plans for a 2nd set of anchors off to the side of the door so I can use it for my ATVs, or mower without being in the way of the door. I also knew the Oakland was coming back and I knew I wanted to work on it in the area off to the side. I wanted the Oakland here before I anchored the lift so I had a better idea of space.

This morning I set the anchors, lifted the Oakland and started laying out the restored gauges. That lead to discovering we don't have all the parts to install the gauges.

I then moved on to making 92 year old switches functional. Thats when I found the fuckered wiper switch. That should prove fun to find a replacement for.

I'm guessing that the broken part is some kind of alloy?

Is that beautiful paint single stage or base clear?

im guessing the wipers are vac operated on a slide port, and the slide block is likely pot aluminum, honestly it would probably be easist to just get a new black cnc cut and then you do the finishing work IE drilling n such "sendcutsend" is FAST and cheep "if" you can make a cad..they also do custom materials so you might even be able to get them to do some of those brass sheet stuff

After the engine paint was dry I disassembled the transmission, sand blasted and cleaned the case, cleaned the internal parts, inspected the internal parts, painted the case, and made the transmission gaskets. 20210423_064507.jpg20210423_064510.jpg20210423_064512.jpg20210423_064515.jpg20210423_064519.jpg20210423_064521.jpg20210423_064524.jpg20210423_064536.jpg20210423_064549.jpg20210423_064610.jpg20210423_064557.jpg

For a change of pace I pulled the engine and transmission out of the 1913 Maxwell today. Start to finish including clean up I have 2.5 hrs into this project.

This car is pretty cool. It runs and drives. We don't know the condition of the engine internals so we are going to have the rods and mains rebabited. The nearest shop that can do it is about 8 hours away and the fella who does it is in his 80's. We decided to have the engine and transmission gone through before the gentleman passes away and takes his skills with him.

what color is that on the okland motor?...looks like a nice replacement for mopar bigblock teal

last shot...id kill for that shop and the old ford N

after 25 years..our front neighbors are moving ....so....a gate is a MUST..

its been a LONG weekend as of thursdays start.....was a mad scramble, and i had auger rental issues...auger did goot 6inch holes 3.5ft deep but the 12inch bit didnt on 2 holes...cause it needed tuned....so hand dug

also got stuck waiting on the locate guys as i KNEW my fiber ran thru the area

squared the primary hole and "belled" it out 12x12 up top (with 24x24x8 top) and at 3.5ft down it bells out to 18x18.....yeah overkill, the other 2 holes are both 12inch rounds down about 3ft with 18x18x 8 tops

2500lbs of bagged cement, hand mixed in a tub..started at about 6pm ended at "im out of daylight" and cleaned tools by truck headlight

used my "overkill" jackstands as post holders

primary post is 3x3x12 1/4 thick, the "fence" section is a mix of hitch tubing so the whole top can be removed from the recievers with 2 bolts

hinges....well...its new VW bug rear hubs...swings like a dream

the remainder of it is a mix n match of galvaniced tube and box of a mix of 120 and 095....its stout as F..and its all built from "reminant" that i got for scrap price sooooo it was cheep...well except the 8ft fence boards

aside from a neighbor helping with the auger..its all been me...solo..wife broke her foot or she would be helping

100% puppy approved wood has also been taste tested

as for the weird gaps..its built to swing 180deg in/out@90..so they were unavoidable..however...you cant actualy eyeball in as i filled and angle cut gaps till it worked

The color is 1956 Lincoln engine green. Its very very close if not identical to the original color. Its awful. Its like a very light mint.

Very nice work on that gate, really stout hinges!

Oaklands and a Maxwell, same owner? What other different cars does he have Stretch?

This is the paint I used on the engine 69.5.

Back around '02, I eyeball colour-matched a customer's '56 Premiere engine for some valve covers he wanted sprayed. He said if I could match it, I'd be a life saver for his Lincoln owners club, as there was no close aftermarket match available at the time.
It was easy to match.
The bugger brought me over a dozen customers in a couple years for engine painting. Apparently, he told his club members that he knew a guy who could colour match to Concours Standards, but the guy would not sell the paint unless he sprayed it. :) I would have gladly sold the paint by itself... but I was happy to add new customers, for sure!
It is a horrid colour...

ok i remember that lincoln color and your right..its NASTY...almoust bought a 56/57 at one point..she was "rough" but sooo cool..engine color stuck out to me more than anything

Making Oakland progress. I started installing the wiring. And pulled the floor panels so I can plant the engine. The engine and transmission go in as an assembly. There are four mounting points. Two at the timing cover and two on the transmission.

Check out that clutch assembly!
