What are you working on?

This week/weekend I gotta pull the engine out of that Geo and then move a bunch of stuff around and get the Father in law's Cavalier in and start swapping that engine out and the replacement back in.

Hit the JY today to grab some rocker arms for that 350 I'm FINALLY putting back together, (waiting on them to make a move). While I was out there I saw this and paid $35 for it!

Now comes a little work, sand blasting and painting. Eventually I'll add some extra brake lights and a nice pair of spot lights so I can see where I'm backing :D

Also saw this, damn shame. I would like to have it, gotta nice 5.9 Magnum looking for a home.

Almost blew my back out pulling this monster out by hand. :D

Got the New engine for the Cavalier picked up and the old one pulled out already.

New engine was $300 and came from a wreck that only had 23,000kms on it, I bought it from one of the re-builders that deals with our shop.

A little back story on the car, it was abandoned at the shop I work at after the customer couldn't pay for the work we did on it so my father in law bought it from the shop for the amount owing on it at the shop and the previous owner signed the car over to him.

It had 182,000kms on it when my father in law bought it, it has 188,500kms on it now and my father in law changed the oil and filter in it twice in that 6,500kms before the timing chain tensioner lost oil pressure, let the chain go slack, chain skipped and valves were bent.

The previous owner owned the car from 25,000kms to 182,000kms and I believe the oil was changed about 5 times.

Enjoy.

As it sits now.

The "New" 23,000kms engine. The ceramic around the electrodes on the spark plugs are still white and the oil is gold.

The old engine, now keep in mind the oil drained from this engine as well as the filter only has 1,500kms on it.

The pan.

Needless to say after this car is back up and running the transmission fluid is next on the list of things to change.

New one going in looks much better inside. It has also received the updated timing chain tensioner that has a built in ratcheting mechanism.

In case you were wondering the oil pan between an '04 Cavalier and an '05 Cobalt are different as well as the fuel rail and throttle body so I did some swapping.

GM still hasn't learned their lesson about timing chains, have they? I've had pedal bikes with stouter chains than that.

spent some time tinkering with the photo frames today. I had to alter Madison's skating picture to make a frame for it. I think it came out nice and the other one i decided to put temporary pics inside till i get the final results from the dart. I felt happy with my custom frame work :-)

Fire is your friend when pulling those bushings...;)

i just finished tiling the kitchen backspalsh the other day, and grouted it all today...now I have t wait a few days and seal everything. Then it's paint, moldings, and new fixtures and lights. Gotta store up some brownie points with the wife again....been working too much on the cars and truck. ;)

This got painted yesterday. '32 Ford five window.
I didn't paint it- bossman Pat did that - but I sure enough did the massive amounts of bodywork and blocking.
Cell phone pics sure are sucky. :(
I'll get some better ones as it goes back together.

Single layer solid Black. As straight as straight can be. :)
