Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

took two of the worst plate lite housings I had & cleaned em up, the lower is alum blast & the top one is bright alum, does it even matter which I use on the good one?

I love watching this. 67 pages. :) The top plate above looks a little smoother/natural imo.

Used that cleaning wheel on the drill, an assortment of wire wheels & 80 grit tapered sanding rolls for the tight corners! bout 2 hours & wala, ready for paint! LOL, Rich

Nothing for now, gonna see what chips, paint no prob, but if the por 15 chips off, then I'll touch up & shoot some undercoat, I like clean, undercoat is truly ulgy stuff, will not use it unless I have to! Rich.

Plate light housings came out great!

Hired some help today to get two large condensers set, & insulate some ductwork at the shop to fill out the day, Thanks Greg, well two nuts can't go a whole day without turnin a car related wrench so in between the job & the shop work we hung the hood to see how much body work was left (or what I screwed up skinning it:rolleyes: ) not too bad, a little dip in one front corner & a low spot where it curves up near drivers side cowel, not to bad(considering it's off another car? ) anyway, a little putty work top side, a ton a work to smoothin work underneath & I can shoot some color next spring!

Trying to move on & keep myself busy, tried starting the 74 thurs & fri, she's dead, either the electric problem has gone from intermitten to permanent or I have added a fuel problem to the mix, a few feeble farts , still spins good(but that won't last long, battery been great so far but will only take so much abuse) but wont catch!
So not into scratching my head a lot I gave up for now!
Spent a couple of hours sat & sun cleaning up my replacement backing plates, what do you suppose I found under that nice black paint! Yep, my namesake! No not a cuda, just the Rust part!:(
So out came the wire wheels & cleaning disc & the rust dust started flying again!
Still don't feel much like doing anything, but it beats moping around, anyway here's the earth shattering progress!:doubt:

Well for your sake I hope you pass me, or you may never get done!
Moneys still tight, the hearts really not in it , so I'm kinda in neutral, putzin when I can.
What I hope will be a good busy season is upon me, must generate some serious coin or the fall(which is when I usually hit the car hard ) will be a waste this year, so get little loyd runnin & you can drive down(over?) here & help me! Rich.

I've decided to strip my Cuda of all the parts and pay someone else to do my body work and painting, finally lost the battle of being as tolerant as Rich. I just wanna drive it already, hopefully my Cuda will be on the road next summer

Caught a break, well maybe not, 3 estimates all turned out to be a waste of time, anyway got home early & cuda called out to me & I actually felt like answering :hmmm:
Grabbed the keys to the 74, still not firing right up, but did get it running to charge the battery, while debating if even to pull the tarp on the 73 I figgered I'd start with something small, pulled the tarp & went to work on redrilling a striped nut for the header pannel, while digging out the tools the splash shields I cleaned up months ago caught my eye, hmmm maybe paint thiose up today, so I washed those off & hung em up to dry, drilled & tapped the nut to the next size started :hmmm: again, fenders gotta come off to mount the shields, header is off already  so off come the fenders!
painted up the shields, shut down & closed up the 74, grabbad a not quite dry shield & noticed 4 holes in the shield & only the bottom bolt & one hole on one side & just the bottom bolt hole on the other, so out comes the punch & drill again (amazing how the actual holes that are supposed to be there get welded up along with the rust!:wall: ) anyhow after a few smudge prints on the shields they are mounted, parts are kinda hung back on the car & tarp is back on till whenever! :dgt:
Oh yea, I did enjoy the afternoon, not much accomplished but it was nice to get out there again! ;)

Ok, started back in buy ordering the dash cap & a rear valence bolt kit, mine had METRIC on it & that just won't do!
Dash cap looks & fits like shit, took the stripped pad down to an apolstry shop to check my options & there were none, he uses the ill fitting covers too!
The other issues are the foam lifted in a few places so I figger I gotta glue those down, then remove any hi spots , I will keep reducing the the foam in the back till I can get the defroster vent holes at least close!

Funny I didn't hear much from the pad, maybe a few "save me" whimpers, most of the noise was the running of the guantlet my lips did spewing every curse I've learned over the years, might even have made up a few new ones on this! :toot: Rich.
