Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

K, got 3 boxes going out tomorrow, mostly parts & air tools.
After I made up a set of vise grips there was not that many left, maybe 5 or 6, those are in the next batch.
The vise I will keep it's the only one I have.
I'll get you a shipping total after I do the other 3.

So after all that I really didn't create a lot of room in the box, I was hoping to get some of my work tools in there.
My next job is to start going through work & home tools! 20240729_131249.jpg20240729_131257.jpg20240729_131304.jpgWhat a mess!

Here's that other puller set, I don't see my bending kit tool box, maybe that went out already, if I find it back in some deep dark corner I'll post it up! 20240729_124944.jpg

K, 3 more go out tomorrow, all hefty, 15, 16 & 17 lbs,
Now I will try & rearrange & get some of my work tools in the box, see how that goes?

Well that was fun, got 3 tool buckets emptied & sorted out, decided to try & waterproof that big bottom drawer, only place a lot of it would fit.
Duct taped actual holes & siliconed the 4 corners then lined it with plastic (thanks 68!)20240730_145319.jpg
Started with my battery drills, the bigger one is older, back then it was cheaper to buy a new drill with 2 batteries than 1 battery, then I switched sizes, now most of the time I use the smaller ones,
So 3 of the 4 big batteries were dead, have not been used in quite some time, so I charged em & darn, they all held a charge, but dang I couldn't throw any away.

On to electric, these have to be 50 years old, broke the locking button on one wire wheeling the cars!
guess I save it for parts?
sorted out the bags of wheels & abrasives, put them in clean bags & that about killed the drawer. 20240730_154004.jpg20240730_154908.jpg20240730_155449.jpgOn to the sheet metal bucket, there's some doubles in here but I kept it all for now, I am pretty sure I'm not doing any ductwork , a lot came in handy on the cars! 20240730_143341.jpg
20240730_144127.jpgNext is to go through the wrenches, there's many doubles & triples in there! 20240730_155835.jpg

Jass, bout 50 more pounds of goodies headed your way, split into 3 boxes.
Now to continue the story...................
Set out all the wrenches, mixed batch of keepers! 20240731_142019.jpgmy full set od keepers20240731_142034.jpg
pretty full set up for grabs, some extras (stacked) about 40 7/16in there!!!20240731_142111.jpg

Another 50 year old tool box to clean out20240731_143257.jpgGot that sorted out & in the box, tossed a few alan key pieces, I still have 3 or 4 sets!20240731_143250.jpgYet another set that did about 98% of my service calls, this I will die with! 20240731_145336.jpg

K, Jass when Mark pulled most of his stuff out he had one odd jack stand, it's a bit smaller than mine but if you can use an odd one, let me know.20240731_145524.jpg

Did you see the balancer puller kit?

A brother can never have too many jack stands, even odd ones.

I did see the balancer puller, and if it's leaving you may as well send it this way. The same goes for this wrench set:

Since I've got a good start on yet another box, if you've still got the ratchets listed on the last page, I'd take those as well.

I'm not keeping all of this stuff, by the way. Some of it I'm giving to my employee--the one with the AMX--who's really just getting started in her gearhead journey. She has more tools than the average 21-year-old gal, but a lot of what she uses are her boyfriend's or grandpa's. She's a better wrench than either of 'em, so she should have her own tools, methinks.

OK, one or 2 more hefties going out,

Gotta look I have 2 sets of mini sockets, one very basic & one with a few more pieces, if that would help Her, I can at least send the basic set. Post up pics later!
Whatever you do, I'm just glad it's going to a good home, wherever they end up!

K 2 more boxes ready, jack stand & big wrenches in one box & smaller wrenches & sockets in the other, stuck this in too. 20240801_152834.jpgI need to find a good box for the puller, It was nasty so I gave it a quickie clean up, 20240801_162744.jpgThen stumbled across this box of extra sockets, I'll go through that tomorrow & see if there are any other doubles I have, might have a few swivels, not sure there?
Wondering what else I could dig up, I'll look around before I pack up that box! 20240801_162920.jpg

OK guys, finally bit the bullet & started to look into classic insurance.
What happened to hagerty, I thought they were high a few years ago on the other car, 700ish, now they want 948!
So I looked around.
American collectors is 312, for slightly less coverage.
Grundy is also 312, with a little less than hagerty & a little more than american.

?? any preference on the cheaper 2, I'm not going to be driving it that much, but do want to be covered??

Looked up value & 2 places came in close to 40, 1 was 38,800 & the other was 39.200 as average value so I went with 40 on the insurance.

I'm not familiar with insurance in states other than MI and WI, but in MI any of those numbers would be pretty good--we have the highest car-insurance rates in the country.

Read through and compare the policies closely, because generally speaking Hagerty and Grundy are within spittin' distance of one another. I think maybe Hagerty's offering more coverage in terms of general use of the vehicle. For example, if you're going to drive it as a "daily usage" the rates increase dramatically. Also, the least-expensive insurance from both Hagerty and Grundy limit usage to something along the lines of "public exhibitions, parades, and shows only", with an exemption for to-and-from regular service/maintenance appointments. I.E., if you get wiped out leaving the ice-cream parlor, they might not cover you.

Yeah but Hagerty sends you a shiny magazine every month. You don't expect to get that for free do you?

I'm with Hagerty. Don't know exactly how much it is, but my first thought is going to be holy crap that's too much and I don't have time to shop for a better price right now.

Back when the texas cuda arrived I had hagerty on that to & it was in that 300 range, probably getting close to 20 years that poor car had been sitting.
Anyway, it took me 20mins to get the 3 quotes, I just googled classic car insurance & a bunch of places came up, basic info & the quotes came right up!

I think 2 of them asked for miles, I know I put 1,000 on one at least, probably never even come close to that, tooling around town , hagerty had a lot of little weird things in there, & I think I looked at there book once, the rest went in the recycle bin!

K, third box ready to go, probably get on it mon. or tues.
Laid out all the loose ones from my box, pulled out all the doubles, not as many swivels as I thought, just a couple
