Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

Darn, it says it right in the listing, I was mostly looking at the back, mines burnt up on some of the electric contact posts. I have it but I had to touch up the letters & there not that great, so if yours is nice I'll buy it.
here's the one I have
Easy mistake to make when you're focused on another aspect of a part entirely. I'll post a pic once I locate it.

Ok just looked at summit the trick flow are 119 & the brian tooley are 109 the mellings would be 134
For 25 bucks I'd go melling if it's worth it. But I have no idea?
I don't think the Mellings are worth the extra in this case. I don't think a brand name matters much when the specs are identical. Save a few bones to put somewhere else, I say.

well at least I'm making a little headway, getting some much needed stuff, I have to scan summit see if there's anything else I can order now.
So I'm gonna go much to you guys dismay with the ABS dash pad, it will never sit in the weather while I own it, & that will probably be only a few years, to save a grand on that almost recoups what I spent today & keeps the price of the dash around 2500.
So last dash part I can think of is the center speaker grille, I need black, saw them somewhere (repop) for 89, if you have a spare orig I'd like to buy that from you, thanks for all your input, Rich.

I'm sure I have the speaker grille. I probably have three or four, honestly. I'll dig one out for you.

I'm not sure how you'll save a grand by going with the ABS core, but I am sure you can't take the car out on nice days or park it in the sun with one. They also don't fit worth a hoot. Lot of compaints on E-body boards about both warpage and poor fit.
I'm also not sure how you'll even get an ABS-core pad, since virtually nobody seems to have them anymore. Maybe you have a source I can't find. There are none on eBay, and the only vendor that "definitely" shows 'em is Year One--I'll bet one American dollar they don't have it. The few I did see available weren't right for your car, either being a '70 version or non-AC, and those were $895. ABC Moparts is $1095, not bad for the best pad on the market.

WellI I guess I'll have to mess around a bit more, Classic industries was on my list at 549, just went on to check & now it's 649, wait a minuet loose a 100. have to create an account to get to checkout, to see if they actually have it.
I went to ABC's web site & left a question a couple of weeks ago never got a response.
Add in a couple hundred shipping it will probably be 1500 pr so before I get it
Maybe I'll try calling both of them & see what's up?

You don't need an account... I don't have one. The site still says "$549.99" and "Arriving Soon!" which would be surprising in this moment of long-standing backorders, particularly on Chinese parts. Most of their dash pads just stay "Out of Stock" indicating they're not even on order. My guess is they won't have any for a while.

I read elsewhere that ABC hadn't responded to messages. Neither did my laser guy. I called the latter, just like I did with the former a few years ago to initiate communications. If ABC's site has a glitch like Spark Laser's did, they'll never see the message. It's hard to miss a ringing phone, though.

I'll try to stop procrastinating & make the calls on Tuesday.
You have any of those stock engine parts you want to unload before I call the other guy.
Valve covers
oil pan
the rocker shaft
intake manifold

Are you looking for the correct parts for the year/engine of the car, or just stock parts? I'm going out to the garage soon and will look around. I think I have some OE valve covers for a later application, possibly the oil pan and rocker shaft, but I don't think I've got an intake I want to leave at the moment. I'll look, though.

Well year/engine would be a bonus, but not thinking it would be easy, just looking to clean & paint chrysler blue to look "close" to original.

I was sure I had a set of "tosser" LA covers I planned on putting on the Valiant if I sold it, but for the life of me I can't find them. They may have been purged during cleaning (though that would surprise me). I do have some specific OE 340 tins, but I have more 340s than I have valve covers or oil pans to fit them. Well, that's only half-true--if you count aftermarket valve covers, I have oodles of 'em: M/T, Cal Custom, Mopar Performance, and fabricated aluminum. All my OE 340 covers are either in use (1969, on the Valiant) or bought for specific projects (1970 and '73). While I was typing, though, I thought of somewhere I didn't look. Hang tight, but I'm pretty sure I can't help with the oil pan.
Rocker shafts I've got in spades. I don't think I've ever thrown one out, looking around the place. I got one all cleaned up for you, but found scoring afterward so that one's scrap. I found more in my basement whilst looking for those valve covers, but I haven't cleaned 'em yet.
I know--I know there's a center speaker grille around here, because I had at least three (maybe four) at one point and I haven't sold or purged any. One was a new reproduction, and two of my four dash pads had good originals. Why do I have four dash pads? Regardless, they say the corner grilles for the 3-speaker dashes are the hard ones to find, but I located both sets of those while only finding one center unit (the original from my car). I'll find it; have faith.
I definitely have the AC bezel, but I do need the controls from it. The letters need some attention and the chrome is essentially non-existent, typical of southern E-bodies, so it's no better than yours. The AC vents show the same problem with the chrome, which doesn't appear to be an issue with the ones you bought.

Picture is much larger if'n you click on it. Anyone need a timing chain tensioner? 'Twas for the long-dead Dakota.

OK so I'm waiting on you for the center grille & the shaft I may try to add in a couple of rockers if you have extras, I put 3 back in the tumbler & a little more rust came off but that one really dirty one might have some pits in there, I'll shoot some pics tomorrow & also get which #'s they are.

one of these days I'll get the call in to the guy I know (well a little) around here to see what he comes up with.
If I have to go aftermarket if the MP's are the black/alum striped ones I liked those if that's what you are willing to sell?

Are you still in the parts business , would it be any help to you if I bought the reg parts thru you, like oil pump, pickup, alternator, water pump, belts, hoses, I'm sure there will be a ton more just reg. parts?

I may have the rockers. Get me the stamping numbers; I have all of 'em in a box together including a set of big-block arms. I can't quite tell 'em apart by eye. I'll also have a look again for the OE valve covers. The MP covers I have were the black-wrinkle ones, but the finish was coming off badly. I had them laser-blasted and, well, that could've worked out better. They're not damaged, per se, but they need a different form of cleaning to finish the job. I may bead, corncob, or soda-blast 'em and then refinish the wrinkle black. I considered having them professionally refinished, but their value doesn't warrant the expense (perfect ones bring about $300/pr, I was quoted about $400).

I am still working in parts, and though if you were local I'd gladly give you screamin' deals, I think shipping would kill any savings. Another consideration is warranty: If you bought an alternator and it failed, shipping it to me for warranty would be an enormous pain. Belts and hoses are one thing, something mechanical like rotating electrical or a pump I'd prefer the option of walking into a store and dealing face-to-face. Get that stuff locally, preferably from an independent store rather than a monster chain like O'Reilly, Advance, or AutoZone, but local's the best option regardless.

Will get the rocker pic & #s shortly.
I had a friend of a friend with a napa store, where I bought a lot of the basic stuff for the 73, tried to stop in there a few weeks ago & it was GONE.
I have an auto zone in town, all the small ones I knew of are gone.
My Dad had a store in brooklyn years ago, motor craft distributor, I had good connections back then, He'd call a friend at his store 3 blocks from my house to get me something I needed fast!
Ahhhh the good old days.

Yeah, don't get me started about online shopping and patronizing huge corporate entities like Wal-Mart.
I desperately need new jeans; they can't be had locally since the Waltons killed every other store we once had. My brother had to drive 150 miles one way just to order a suit for his daughter's wedding. Then he had to repeat the trip to retrieve it. In 1992, we had two stores with tailors that could've done it same day or next, depending on when you got measured. Advance, O'Reilly, and AutoZone are doing the same thing to little guys like me, despite my having better parts at lower prices. At least our downtown is seeing something of a resurgence as people flee the inevitable pajama-clad 1-ton scooter pilots and piss-poor service of Wally World.

From back when I was in business I always shopped local, back in the rickle days, now it's home depot, I have been dragged in there a few times for stuff that I couldn't get from the little guys.
but even though my main hardware is local owned, it went to ace a bunch of years back, but the people are still pretty good & helpful? Anywho, here's the rockers.
you can read the #'s pretty good but just in case, the worst is a T 310 (l) & the other 2 are 39T (r)20230529_123145.jpg
OK dummy question again
I assume the different #'s mean they should go in specific places I think I have 8 of each soooo where do they belong on the shaft?

Now if these won't be a problem then never mind that request!

The ones marked L goes on the Left and the ones marked R goes on the otheR side.

L and R as in per cylinder pairs of rockers. They should form a V on the valve side.

Just like the two on the right in your photo.

Even went back to my first pic of the set but couldn't read any #'s in all that crud.
Gonna have to write that down I'll forget before I get around to putting it back together!
Thanks!

I guess my days of cleaning up 50 year old nastiness are not over yet, went to see Jerry Stien , he wasn't 100% on the oil pan, I wasn't sure about the pickup & not sure if I can make the manifold useful again?
Got a rebuilt carb & some nasty stock valve covers, for 500 I think????? I did ok? 20230530_162506.jpg

That's a truck oil pan and pickup. It won't fit your car. Those were the same valve covers I had at one point, but mine were still blue. Mine are definitely gone, though.

OK Jerry wasn't sure about the pan, looks like I'll have to go aftermarket on the pan.

You think that manifold can be saved, I'm going to set up the sandblaster in the next couple of days ?
