84 Crewcab...AKA..Patches

But man is that one heavy axle! Took 3 of us to move it around. But it should have no problem holding up the increased HP and Torque the motor should be making in the next little while.

The old D60 in there now was in serviceable shape when I pulled it apart. But the axle shafts themselves were scaly rust, and the axle tubes were almost as bad. Took a lot of cleaning to get things in OK shape. But I question the integrity, and strength of the axle shafts since they are pretty pitted. I figure it's only a matter of time before one of them decided to twist into two in a high torque situation.

Yeah no doubt I got a good deal on this axle. The guy parts out 1st gen that come through as insurance write offs. So I will definetly be getting some more parts form him...maybe a case of beer will fall out of the truck at some point. ;)

cow..do me a favor and find out if you can get a whole truck from him and what it would cost..honestly i need a running rolling chassis.....

What you looking for...reg cab, or ext cab? Manual, or auto? 4x4 or 2wd? So you'd prefer a complete running truck?

im looking for full on conversion stuffs......my boss man wants to build a 4x diesel not sure if he wants auto or 5spd........but the body has yet to be descided....wheelbase doesnt matter as ill have to cut it to fit anyway...i dont really need a whole truck ...but really i need everything but the body interior etc.....right now the slated project is...an f250 ford van body onto a dodge cummins chassis..last month it was a toyota 4dr landcruiser onto same platform

i wouldnt be oposed to a cheep complete truck tho to rip down

I'll contact him and let him know what your looking for. He did say he had a farm down around Portland area...maybe he has a cummins truck, or can get one to the farm?

$1600 for an axle? Those mf'ers are retarded. I have AN ENTIRE RUNNING TRUCK in my yard that I paid less than that for. Yes, it's a dodge with a cummins.

69 and I have been kicking around a few ideas to make picking up your bed a bit easier. Pull your current bed off, which might make getting the new rear end under the truck a bit easier as well, somehow secure your tail lights to your bumper or something. Keep the bed off when you come down. Bring some bolts and whatever else is needed and we'll put the new bed on here so you go back across the border in one piece. :) I can only imagine what they'd say at the border if you had this bed on a trailer coming back across. This might help avoid any paperwork, money you don't need to pay out etc...

I need to double check this, but my memory is telling me that the D/W250 & 350 Dana 70 used the same drums with narrower shoes on the 250's. That being the case, you should be able to use the 350's better rear brakes with nothing more than turning your drums.

Well a fellow over on the Cummins forum I frequent made up some "FARGO" lettering for his crewcab conversion. I had been thinking about doing the same thing so was thrilled when I saw what he did. I contacted him, and through a fluke of circumstance he actually flew into my home town from Saskatchewan!! We met up briefly and I bought a couple sets off him for my truck.

Anyway we finally had a few nice days so I go the decals on....whatcha think?

Little back story...

My truck box on old RAE is in nice rust free shape..just the inside is beat. The floor is as wavy as the ocean, and I have tow big holes cut in the floor from the stacks that were in there. As well as some cracks and damage to the inside sides of the box. Outside the pass. side has the typical crunch...from what I can't say but it's been mudded over and looks OK but still bothers me.

Anyway I have been keeping my eyes open for a new'er box, even looked at a couple locally. One was no better then what was on my truck and the guy wanted $400, He also had a nice mint one for $800....little too much for me.

Well one night a couple months ago I was cruising the west coast craigslists and came across a listing for a 80-93 nice clean, straight rust free box. It was in Portland OR though. Luckily 69 and Fishy live just outside Portland. A private message here on the board, a phone call, some texting with the def seller, some paypal-ing and 69 and Fishy had the box at their house.
