65 Valiant build

I finally got back on the Valiant. The left side wheel tub is done and ready to be welded in. Then I need to build a trunk support bracket like the other side. Then its on to body work.20230618_113549.jpg20230618_114100.jpg20230618_171436.jpg20230618_171448.jpg20230621_184233.jpg20230621_184246.jpg20230621_184301.jpg

It's pretty much been all summer since I last worked on Stinky but yesterday I got back after it.

I did a little C.A.D. work and made the flange panels for the left rear wheel tub and then welded those and the tub in. I was about 80% done when I stopped so the kids, my wife and myself could spend the evening at the corn maze.

Next I moved on to building under floor braces for bucket seats. I'm 6'6" so I need as much leg room as possible. I wanted to move the seats back but still have them securely anchored. After that I instaled the floor plates for the seats.

While working on the floor I marked out the holes for the 4 speed hump, cut them out and welded in the hump.

After the floor stuff was all set I moved on to somthing I have never attempted. I made a patch for the right rear quarter panel. That patch curves in three directions at once. I fabracobbled up a dolly to bend the pice around and grabed my contour gauge. Let me know what you think.20231126_122615.jpg20231125_172414.jpg20231125_172539.jpg20231125_172352.jpg20231125_172402.jpg20231126_122615.jpg20231126_122624.jpg20231125_175800.jpg20231125_175803.jpg20231126_154611.jpg20231126_141829.jpg20231126_154619.jpg20231126_141807.jpg20231126_141812.jpg20231126_141813.jpg

Now that the quarter patch is in I went after the wheel arch and inner fender arch.

A few more of the lip and then the vertical portion between the two repairs.

A lot of progress has been made since I last updated. I replaced both rear lower quarter panels, repaired the right rear trunk extension and hand made the left rear trunck extension. That involved removing the tail panel because it is welded ovr the top of the quarters.

That actually turned out to be a good thing because it exposed rust in the rear cross member I didn't know about. It made removing the dents in that panel a lot easier and I need to repair where it meets the quarters anyway.20240107_160152.jpg20240127_110530.jpg20240127_130444.jpg20240127_110526.jpg20240127_130444.jpg20240204_142714.jpg20240204_160623.jpg20240128_130815.jpg20240128_130821.jpg20240211_093907.jpg20240128_134108.jpg

I'm gonna guess the screwed-up order of your photos maybe has something to do with using a phone? Obviously I've little idea, since I've never seen the phone interface for this site.

It's also possible if you're doing a "mass upload" (selecting/uploading photos in groups) it'll take 'em in whatever order it wants--the same thing sometimes happens on PCs when loading multiple files into a program.

No. One at a time. Let it load then click on the next. And so on.

host on imgur, sort by date taken, click and copy ...it works better than photo bucket ever did

as clean as that car looked im suprised at all the stuff your finding and fixing

All I can say is wow!
I had enough trouble trying to put in stock parts, your practically making your own car.
Nice work, I have to wonder around here more!

Nothing wrong with that work!
I've seen repairs done by licensed bodymen that didn't look half as neat as that...

Thank you Restoman. That is a compliment I don't know that I deserve. I'm literally just trying to figure it out as I go. I guess I must have developed some confidence along the way too. I haven't called you in quite a while to pick your brain.

Rusty, thank you. You of all people know this isn't a easy road. It can be rewarding and frustrating at the same time.

I need to spend more time here aswell.

Next time, after the image loads, put your cursor after it before you load the next one.

Your cursor is before the image and it puts them in at the cursor, so it stacks them in reverse order.

It's hard to see, but it's there. Look for a dark line before or after your image. Or just press Ctrl-End after each, then return.

It's something to do with posting from my phone. It also could have something to do with me internet service. I live in a very rural area and have satellite internet.
