1982 Cordoba Stock Car.

I think the legendary trunk seal event was before my time here.

I'm not familiar with that tale.

Actually, I think that dates all the way back to the ScatPack days. Giowest installed the trunk seal on his '69 Road Runner upside-down... and no one's ever let him forget it. :D

The seal was glued the right way, but in the wrong location. Instead of glueing it to the raised ridge on the inner edge of the trunk opening he glued it in the rain trough next to the ridge. The seal was set in so low that it would in no way contact the trunk lid.The best part is when he proudly posted a pic of his handywork. Luckilly it was brought to everyones attention while the glue was still soft.

Whoops. :D

For some reason I was thinking that he had glued it to the trunklid and not the car body.

Got the sheeting all mocked up for my header panel, believe it or not but I can hardly tell the difference in weight between this steel one and the factory piece.

Just have to weld and finish it.

I also finished up the rear firewall. Nice light aluminum sheeting. I also absolutely LOVE my new air riveter.

That front end looks great Dippy. To bad its adding wight high and forward. Not good for roll center hand handling.

From the way he described it, it doesn't sound like it added much, if any, weight. Those factory fascia ain't exactly what you'd call "svelte".

*Freddie Prinze voice* Loooooking Gooood! *Freddie Prinze voice*

Air riveters are the ony way to go! :)

If it weights two pounds more then the factory piece I would be amazed.

I will be weighing them when this one is done.

Keep in mind the factory one has no headlight covers or grill in it and they are almost the same weight right now as is.

Heck, I thought it might be lighter. Then again, I'm thinking of a Mirada fascia with a molded-in grille. I'd almost guarantee it's lighter than the fascia from an M-car. I still have the one from the LeBaron, and with the grille and headlamps in it, it's pretty freakin' heavy.

The fiberglass one from the later Cordobas with all the steel bracing to mount it, the steel backed rubber piece to fill in the gap above the bumper and then cover in the headlights and make a stretch metal grill for it I guarantee the modified factory piece will weigh more then this one.

This new one will not explode into 1,000 pieces with the first bump like the factory piece.

The track staff will appreciate the effort. The have already had to clean up one Buick header panel and three 5th Ave header panels. :D
