What are you working on?

car is quieter now than its EVER been...and wife got it pretty much straight off the boat after being on a waiting list....also..while i was in there i did some minor mods..and im now experianceing torque steer..lil gokarts a fucking riot to wheel...light n small 120hp or so now

i did multiple flushes and fills 3 filters and once i was no longer having anything show up in the oil or pan i sealed it up..i plan to revisit it in 1500 miles and drop the pan and see whats going on..i fully expect alot less life out of it for sure

So that other one is a different model and the parts from that one won't work?
yeah 06 and 08..there was never an 07

funny enough the cars an 07, the 06 shars ALOT with the car, in fact ALL of the suspension and engine, differing intake and brain but otherwise the same rig as the car minus the struts trans is geared different but same unit

the 08 is more of a camry at heart, still shares suspension with the 07 yais tho minus the struts and brakes has a 2.4 with double the power and about 700lbs heavier

the plan is 1 will be painted and sold...tho....wifes getting pretty attatched to the new one....and still adores the old one which she wont be able to drive for a while...so she may opt to keeping both...if we sell one tho we will make quite the proffit, they are cult cars..and around here you cant get one for less than 5k running

Not really working on it, but working to pay for it…
Mrs DCF has been wanting to enclose the front porch for a long time.
While getting it quoted out, we got the back patio quoted too.

I got a look from her that told me I was signing the contract. Ya know that puppy eyes kinda look. LOL!

The back patio materials came in first and the installers were here for the last two and a half days.

The roof and the three exterior posts were there. Just the posts and rails and glass are new.

The glass panels slide to the front corners like this:

and the handles have locking latches.

The overlap and window whiskers are less obtrusive than they look in these pictures.

Suffice it to say that any bonus cash I make from here on out can go to car parts. :p

That last line about the car parts….not so true.

Had the sales guy out here again today.

We’re adding motorised retractable screens on the sides. We’ll get a nice cross-breeze with that and the access to the yard won’t be blocked. Minimal bugs.
We could do all three sides, but we’re going to see how we use it for a season, first.

and that garden to the left, in the first picture… is going to be a slab soon, probably with one of those BBQ gazebos on it.
I keep saying that I want to do the slab, but Mrs. DCF keeps calling for quotes.
I’m not arguing all that much, to be honest.

Slowly been developing a grinding noise in the front end of Patches when turning and slowly accelerating, been having difficulty locating the source. It seemed to start when I swapped on my summer tires so thought maybe the tires were causing the noise so quickly swapped on my winters and when it was up in the air I grabbed the front tires at 12 and 6 and pushed/pulled and there is a significant amount of movement, guess the front hub bearings are going bad! Parts have been ordered and guess I will be doing that on my next days off.

Changing out the wheels/tires on the vette. Not a big fan of the originals. Stock size 17" front 18" rear. Now 18" front 19" rear, also a bit wider on the rear. Nice fat tire on the rear, should help it hook up a tad better.

got up at 3am, for 4 hours of "work" then continued driving for another 3+ hours to north of seattle, picked up a friend and drove the 30 mins back to seatle, hopped a ferry and proceded to continue driving ...with random stops, back to a ferry then the 3+ hours home..got home round 1130pm

lots of trapsing around acreage trying to help a friend find a new home/land for said new home..its honestly the kind of stuff i love..wandering thru the woods trying to find property lines on 3-5 acre plots can kick the shit out of you after an allready early morning especiely when its all wooded and hasnt been touched in decades

most of the land he pre-selected for me to check out was basicly hiding the fact that most of it was marshy or straight up wetlands...and the realators were useless

did by accedent find him a sweetheart of a plot on a hill tho by the end of the day..something that wasnt even on his list that ticks all the boxes, and is build ready.....even got to hear a car crash on the twisty road neerby

ive got thorns and stabs in all sorts of places...still picking out thorns after sleeping it off...takin the day off and will likely work on this

I noticed you were writing about a road trip, then saw the first photo and thought you'd had a bad day. Glad it isn't so.

grabbed it a month or so back, traded a 1980 xl500s(no title) for it, 06 xb 156k on the clock....been dabbling at it off n on its one of those things where you dont have to like work for a few hours to get something done, or even get started....like my lloyd....with the xb i can just drill a few holes or grind or whatever set shit down and walk away for a few days or whatever work demands of me..and not have to stare at it for 20 mins to figure out where i was going with it

it was indeed a hell of a road trip tho..hacking your way thru underbrush and bogs to find property markers can be hell...but i do kinda have a nose for it so to speak as i spot the game trails and use those as much as i can then deviate as needed to get to where my brain calculates the marker to be..and im useualy right within 20feet or so....assuming theres markers at all.....but i also have an uncanny ability to know how far ive walked in x direction even with zigzagging thru a game trail

Saturday - I tried to rework the gate so the bottom would clear the new concrete pad that got poured a little outside our intended space. I was away for work when the concrete pad went in.

Sunday - built a new gate.

The boards on the back will run short along the bottom and that will clear the pad by an inch or so. I’ll get to those boards next weekend.

Screens went in last week.
Concrete pads went in the week before. Oh yeah, those are a surprise.

There’s a screen on each side. With them down, we get a nice cross breeze and so far, no bugs.
There’s a bit of privacy too, but looking out from inside, it’s not more obtrusive than a typical window screen.
It also blocks UV rays. So, we have more control over the temperature in the patio. Most of the sun we get hits this side of the house.

im suprised you didnt just flip the hinges to open the other way

A blade bent on our mower and then the spindle bolt holding that one on broke off so I had to replace two blades and one spindle.

The new blade and spindle went together no problem. The new blade and the old spindle did not. It appears that the bolts/washers used on these spindles use a heavy flat washer. I had replaced both spindles before so that is the setup in use.

It seems that running the mower slowly bent the washer until it is sort of concave on the side toward the bolt head so it tightens down against the spindle but not against the blade. I can wiggle the blade around by hand with 70lb/ft of torque on the bolt. There's about 1/4" up and down movement at the end, less at the center near the bolt.

I'm going to run it like that since I'm pretty confident that I'm going to notice the blade banging on the deck before the blade ejects itself. At least that's the way it has worked in the past.

From searching there are special bolts/washers that should be used that are cup shaped so the outside edge touches the blade to hold it tight, and won't bend like these flat washers did.

Do the new blades not have a shaped hole to fit the spindle? Al the mower blades I've had on and off the blades had a shaped hole...no round...so they won't move on the spindle. Also I've had mowers with just flat washers and a lock washer to hold the bolt in place.

Yes it's got the star shape to it. The wiggle is up and down, not side to side.

lil trick..if you drill the thick washers slightly larger and only half way thru youll end up with the same "cup" effect and solve it
Problem is, that washer isn't coming off the bolt. I tried driving the head out of the washer on the broken bolt, no go.
