What are you working on?

i was just verifying what i "thought" i saw....just imagine the time it would take to machine the block and trans since you have all thos espining parts all in the same chunk of aluminum

im assuming they share oil too ?

I'm not sure. I mean I think so but the clutch is in there so perhaps not?

I'll let you know as soon as I figure out how to fill and check the level in each. The filling part is straightforward but I have no idea how the engine oil level is verified.

Well I have been working on getting the old 77 Vanguard camper and Ol' Patches sorted out and ready for the vacation my daughter and I had been planning for several years now...was put on hold due to covid and this August was to be our time. We were to have traveled through WA, OR, CA, NV for 9-10 days hitting national parks and sites along the way.

And this is why you build a big tall shop with wide doors! ;)

Pretty much ready to go....

Bought the Camper end of April and between finding the Coronet, everything involved with the purchase and shipping, work nights and then all the repairs/upgrades needed on the camper and Patches I have been run ragged these last 3 months or so. I was one work day away from leaving on our trip...scrambling to get the last few things sorted out on the truck and camper and I started to feel sick, wife say I shouldn't go into work because I was so ill and whips out one of her at home Covid tests....she works for the public health system in our area now so gets the rapid tests free, and well you guessed it I got covid! 😔

So I had to cancel our trip and I've been stuck at home sick, like a really bad head cold with aches and pains, lots of coughing and migraines, lethargic and easily exhausted..and the 80% loss of taste and smell. Been cooped up at home now 5 days and starting to feel better so on the mend now....but sad/mad I put all that time and effort into getting ready for the trip and now it's a no go, but that's life sometimes.😐

Will see about re-scheduling it perhaps later this fall, or maybe plan again for next year but daughter might be going away to college so this might have been our last chance at a Father/Daughter holiday.

cow youll get another chance..easily a posibility next summer break , and with california on fire as useual and such ..imo next year will be a much better year for it weather wise

i REALLY want to swap the bed and nose on that truck to ANY mid 70s grill with that camper on it now

been toiling away with work..LOVING most days TBH...id have never thought doing package delivery would be fun..but...ive been sent all over my back roads and send down new ones with breathtaking views ive never seen from X angle..and then theres the random roads that should be CARVED with anger and rage..alot of wild hill climb roads that wind twist dipp n roll into hair pins then down n back up ...stuff ive made mental notes of for later excursions
the lil 07 yaris has been tweaked and tuned a bit and is imensly fun being very VERY light ...ive had it on the scales a few times varying wiht neer full tank me n a full load of packages 2270 is about the average
anyway back seat deleted, and a steel frame work and aluminum sheet, now with full curve port dual 8 inch sub box under it in a useless space...the box itself is 5 inches tall and only 12 or so deep 15 wide per side

i gutted the interior a few weeks back for full sound deadning and insulation, then started tinting the windows with 35%
ive also done a full retrofit of AC as it was born without...as well as some minor cosmetics including HID projector headlights hid fogs, cruise control, factory fog light switch stalk mod, and i wired it up very clevrly with lows, highs kick on the lows as well so when you do need light...youve got ALL the light..ad most recently a full brake job at shes got 170k KILOMETERS on the clock n counting

i did some bonus mods tho that...suprised me that the factory didnt do, with AC theres no heater bypass, so...i used a generic unit then put it on a switch so it can be totaly turned off...colder much more functional AC, some lowwer bumper supports out of aluminum so they can give but keep everything a lil more ridged at speed, brained stainless lines cause..well..the old lines were the originals and something was feeling "off" an extra cargo light, multiple intigrated usb chargers, cold air intake, looking for a good header and power windows...yup cranks on all 4!

on top of that ive been slowly working on replacing our back fence...about 250 ft or so...some small children climbed over while we were out delivering..mother in law was here leeroy going bonkers nect thing she know shes got a small child at the door leeroy barking mad around him...he did wet himself....but the back neighbors agreed to pay for half the fence as it had been failing and id been bandaging it up for the past 6 years...now.....its an 8 ft monster....ive got 2 posts still to replace and about 40 ft left to do
after that ill be pushing out a side wall of my shop 8 ft...ive got everything to do it on hand...sooo the 20x20 will become 28x20

If I could find a good grill, lower valance and rad support, or headlight buckets I'd be up to doing the swap as well. I think you said the 76-78 had the most clearance because it pushes out a bit? I'd need something like that to clear my big intercooler. I have

Not sure if I'll be able to do another trip next year or not, daughter might be away to college in the UK...but regardless I have a cool old camper I can use anytime I want now. ;) I will probably be bugging a friend of mine who has been in the RV industry for over 40 years if he can get me any warranty take outs, or slightly damaged units so I can upgrade the fridge, furnace, stove and hot water system.

warrenty take outs would be epic..id also bet if you dig around youll find someone who parts out burnt and wrecked rvs..seems those guys are everywhere..tho the prices are sometimes a wee crazy
the trick with the face lift swap would actualy be easy..the late cores are dime a dozen, and imo i prefer to mix the valance to an "early" unit as they had the turn signals in them that look good

ive got a guy i get my stuff from typicaly has that stuff on hand at a reasonable price...tho i think ive got a couple valances and probably a spare core

MORE SPACE
8x20 to be exact at about 7.5-9ft of height

90% scraps...save for exacty half the 2x4s and the led tubes

due to space limitations and time i had to do it in exacting stages
1 build as much frame as i could, 2 remove interior wall skin while leaving shop secure 3, roof and skin the new section as far as possible before pulling down the cubical insulation wall in the shop which ment moving everything off the wall..with no place to really move it,,with only partial days off on fri/sat its taken me a couple weekends before i could actualy cut out old post ties

since none of the new panels are the same color as the old..i re-used the existing wall as the roof, the front/rear walls are done in the same panel style, the new side wall is done in a totaly different panel style and cant be see..by anyone

posts will vacate later when i can get a big beam to drop in there

next step is to scrape off the asphalt and expose the old concrete pad just like i did for the initial 20x20..also wire and plumb air..the asphalt pull is EASY just slow..its got a cloth mat seperating it from teh concreete..slip a prybar in and the whole sheet could be lifted..but its eaier to manhandle 1-2ft chunks

You'll put that space to good use, that's for sure.

I'd like to build off the back of mine but Gina's got a chicken coop built right behind it.

More space... always a good thing.
Doing it on the cheap... even better.
ive got less than 300 into it...25x4's and 75 or so brakcets...re-used as many old 2x4s as i could, even found the remainder of the wiring i used when i built the shop the first go ..whiich id been sitting on for atleast a decade prior
i need a couple things tho..specificaly some roof side caps and some steel outlets and id love to insulate it when the moneys availible

Looking good 69!

I built this wood shed a last year, 10'x10', out of recycled and scavenged lumber and hardware...other than one piece of tin for the roof, a couple brackets and some screws and washers. Think it costs me about a $100 for everything.

Well my youngest daughter decided she wanted to move to the big city so she found a job, and then an older woman looking for someone to be joint tenants on her basement suit. So the wife and I made a 1750Km round trip in Ol' Patches pulling my car trailer to move all her stuff a week or so ago.

thats one long ass round trip...alberta? LOL

ive been busy with a lil of everything, ive now added the front 2 power windows to the wife 5dr yaris..still need to find the 5dr driver door harness and switch plate and 1 of the rears at which point she will have every option she wanted short of the rs exhaust and rear swaybar

mostly finished out the 8x20 shop extension..need some more wire and air line, and a lil concrete work in 2 more corners.....but its sealed, lit, and water tight

also been tinking with a friends ninja that got parked for a very extended period...and fixing to do 2 back to brack trans swaps..one on a newwer trailblazer the other on a v6 honda accord

also been doing an assload of yard cleanup..alot of which was the results of the 8ft back fence and the shop push

should add i scored a PTO unit and HUGE HYD pump for 50$ out of a pick n pull for my np 445..they didnt know what to price it as..i told em well it works like a gear driven hyd pump..yes powersteering would be similar.....LOL..the pump is heavy as fuck and was still holding some HYD pressure as it squirted when i sawzalled the 2inch lines,,,came out of a 70 sweptline flatbed with dump...crazy heavy hyd cyl in it too..ive seen d6/8cats with smaller rams

so cleared the asphalt off the old slabs and then started placing stuff and framing around what would likely be final placement...but those posts..FFS in the way annoying..just....and btw hefting that snapon analyzer(still works but id kill for the o2 bung for it) up there SUCKED!!!...solo

after a few days i KNEW the posts would have to go..but wasnt sure how viable that option was...

turns out viable was an understatement..in fact i did some preliminary tests with using a 6ft 2inch solid round bar and a jackstand to see how much force it would take to lift wall sections..i had to do it to get remaining asphalt out from under the posts and it turned out that i could lift any one of the outer posts and it would take ALL of the load off the original exterioir wall posts...color me shocked

however the need for indestructably bulletproof ..i used the 18ft beam id saved fr my rotiserty as both a beam and a failsafe to make sur even if we got heavy snow or a tree fell it wouldnt give... i can replace that beam at any time for a couple hundred...and i had it on hand....but finding a "solid" way to get it in, mounted and cabable of being "shimmed" incase of any sag proved tricky..again all solo...all said it went as smoothly as it could given the weight...i did manage to have a HUGE C-clamp fall on my arm from 9ft up...lucky i didnt break it, and my elbow since it hit in that general area...softball size bruising

framed in more shelving, did more clean up, sealed holes sound proofed with what i had and started hanging stuff...still gotta deal with some concrete issues, and add some electrical wire to split the outlet cuircuts and new air line to the aditional real....but...im tickled pink as it feels like ive gained double the space, by only adding 8x20...still got some more plans for tweaks n what not but overall its "done"..unless i fall into some big money.....at which time ill replace all posts with 10-12 ft on the NEW wall(right at 8 now) and add 2-4 to all the rest so i can max out the lift with most things on it..then blow the back wall out 20 ft!

for referance, the lloyd can stay where its at as long as needed and still be worked on, while the rear of it is 3ft off the wall so its kinda "snug" theres neerly 5ft on the other 2 sides, and still room to drag ANYTHING into the shop for work..which is good cause ive got some transmission swap work to get paid for
