What are you working on?

Getting the individual panels level and aligned will be tough... I see lots and lots of test fitting in your future. :)

Yep. Me too. The upper wood looks to be original. The door hinge pillar is original as is the door striker pillar. The wood that goes across the body behind the front seat back (at the top) looks to be original as does the wood that goes down the 1/4's and all of the door wood looks to be original. All of the floor and the sills is a cobbled together mess of 2x6's. I think once I get that laid out and square things will start going better.

came across this got a laugh thought of you stretch...this is actualy REAL

Proposition 65 notice for wood products is as follows: WARNING: Drilling, sawing, sanding or machining wood products generates wood dust, a substance known to the State of California to cause cancer. Use a respirator or other safeguards to avoid inhaling wood dust.

I prefer to main line it! I just shove splinters into my hands and fingers!

California is made up of weirdos that are afraid of everything. To give you an idea how weird they are, Hillary is their hero.

I did a bunch of measuring and laying out today. I got alot done but not much to take pictures of. My table saw, band saw and planer got a work out though.

Here are the door jam pieces and the last one is my '74 dodge with the box and rear bumper on. I got the box on it a few months ago, I bolted the bumper on and hooked up the gas tank filler tube last weekend. I didn't take any pictures of it until today.

Oak. Mostly red oak. Some white oak. white is best for the straight parts like the sills and pillars, the red oak is best for highly curved parts such as the curved rear 1/4's and the arch around the rear seat.. Oddly enough what original wood is left appears to be pine or perhaps ash.

Stepside looks badass

some yes..some no..my issue is that soo many cant be destinguished from the rear 1/4 as dodge or ford..chev atleast had a more "unique" fender for the box to which i will give them a small compliment on..... and then the worthlessness of the inside of the box

lil red 4x it!!!....but it needs a DODGE tail gate not the blank one

I sent the body off to my metal fab guy. I need the rust fixed so I can get a accurate fit of the wood to the body. I also sent the engine splash pans. These pans go between the engine block and the frame. They bolt to the lower edge of the "c" channel along the frame ans rest against the engine oil pan rail. The bolt on cover is for clearance for the spring shackle. He sent me some pics. Dan is awesome at metal fab!!!

Restoman and 69.5cuda, you two will love this.

Geez, that's some nice work! That fella loves what he's doing and it shows!

What was the time involved in making those? Metal gauge?

I'm not sure on the hours involved but I bet it was more than a few. As for gauge. Its the same as the rest of the body panels, Whatever that is :D

Dan really does do nice metal fab work. He is the guy who repaired the damage to the fender in the 1928 Oakland. He also painted it. I'm looking forward to posting the pictures of the repaired panels for this car. He said I'll have them back in January.

I spent most of today sandblasting more parts. Most of the stuff I blasted today was the cast brackets for the coachwork, the door hinges, and the rumble seat brackets. I hung the parts to paint them but I just don't feel well enough to paint them tonight.

meanwhile...in the bat cave

ive been plugging away on major rust repair on an alfa every weekend....ENTIRE driver floor, all 4 rockers(4 layers deep) entire trunk floor, most of the windshield lip, most of the cowl, and the entire trunk lip...added some bracing along the way..lots of repairs over previous hack job repairs...i wont be painting it any time soon but..i hope to deliver it back to the guy in the next couple weeks..then he will go thru the mechanical put the race bits in return it to me for body and paint
