tiny...aka 1958 lloyd

i wish i could say ive been busy with her..but...ive not had the time.....however the interior one day i was dinking with and finished tieing in the 58 ford dash parts to the door and did some metal fill work....and at some point the interior poked me in the eye and bashed me over the head and made full sense of what was missing and how to fully wrap/tie the interior together..follow the dash and console lines from the cluster to the tail cross bar and echo them onto the doors..so i picked up some conduit to have at it once ive got the time

the shows on the 15th?..hell if i know if im even going......and for thos of you who missed it..yup...i picked up a 3rd lloyd..still sitting here at home on a trailer

arnt they tho...i mean seriously...tell me of 1 good wheel that would look "right" on it.......i mean the only other thing i could think of was 50s "spinner" caps..problem is the inability to get steel wheels that fit this offset and bolt pattern..thus why the moons are the "bolt on" type...and i didnt use the provided hardware i swapped it for stainless allen heads

Yea man I like the moons also.....dude my ass hurts my scrollin finger hurts you see I've been trying to get caught up around here then I get in this thread holy chit I need a stiff drink some pills and a massage in what ever order! caution to anyone starting to read this thread take a couple days let it sink in ....did I mention my ass hurts this chair is physically affixied! I dont care if thats spelled right either! AWESOM DEDICATION BRO! looks good so far !! I'll stay caught up! lol what I woulda put a goldwing motorcycle 6 in and drove! you completely used only 10 parts of, and fabricated the rest!! cudos!! now get back to work! im going in to pop some pills!

lol trust me the 3rd lloyd may get a bike engine..dunno..but after looking at a miata front rack and suspension i think i know where to get a narrow body disc brake setup for another fun build without going wide body LOL

glad you read it all.....its been a fun trip in itself.....hopefully you clicked the vids too

i should also mention....theres a similar project thats gathering parts and has been partialy paid for in the works........im awaiting a body from PA to get here..its donar came up from LA and the owner is in reno.....the "G.sprint" is going to be just as wild as my lloyd

Cool that should be fun to watch!! A buddy of mine has an MG midget with an all aluminum land rover v8 in it ! It's awesome ! I'd love to have if I could fit in it lol!

keep in mind im 6'4 and that i have to look up at cow..and he fit in my lloyd..yet the whole car bumper to bumper is a smidge over 12ft and the wheel base a lil under 8ft.....its tiny but theres room....its weird

oh how id love to take that out in the feilds..tho theres no proof its real ive seen shots of it from different angles and read up somewhere what it would have taken to do and sounds like its legitimatly easy actualy

[QUOTE-0-Fishy....,.What good is an urban assault Smart car without the missles to match though. :([/QUOTE]

Kill them with go green laughter...STRIKE! Lol

just a heads up

since the sites got a good slew of us back ill see about getting this updated

a few preemptive side notes, its my primary focus again but im stuck.....see serious tech question...engine is out and a "new" slightly used (almost entirely dyno time on it maybe a coulpe 1000KM)400hp race engine will be going in....still alfa...and i should ask a question on that as well

ive solved a small piles of issues, still stuck on others

solved list.. some implemented, or started, others are set in motion
hood hinges, rad fitment, masters, steering column, more power, shift routing, heater/ac, exhaust, headers, battery tray, muffler, exhaust tips, fuel tank

stuck and need help
cage, engine balance, power windshield(may axe this), side window sliders, intake design and runner length

ok,,so its been a while....and lifes been...ugly at best, ive been fucked over more times than i can count, imidiate family health issues and scares..just back burnered life in general ..ive lost friends both to death and to lies n theft, ive been robbed blind, ive been blind sided by both my wife and now my mothers medical issues that sprung up...close calls has been an understatement of the decade..even neerly loosing my own life as well

2020 is a JOKE by comparision of the last 5 years ive had ....hell covid has been a VACATION by comparison

short list
i punched a hole in my skull, my wife had a caratid artery disection, a few mini strokes, historectomy due to issues, lost a freind to cancer. mom got flipped off a lift bus, broke some things which developed into cancer for her bday this year, lost her leg, for new years its back, they are taking the hip and posibly part of the pelvis, got married after my head injury, ive been lied to cheated ripped off and screwed over in a big way, i have no local friends any more and im happy with it, my list of ppl id like to see dead has gotten much bigger, the amount of cars id like to see blown up or put thru the shredder due to bad deals has gone up as well....pretty fucked up when youd like to see your own work shredded

on the up side, ive got some work lined up including a 4x4 conversion on a 74 extended cab dodge for a good friend driving long haul, and a friend of his with some dakota stuff, and might get back to another friends crown vic sometime this year.....along side the 74 4x4 conversion it will be a FULL frame off restomod but ill be doing it "twice" as some of my payment will be parts and materials for my ramcharger

anyway..if anyone wants details im happy to share....for now im going to copy pasta off the alfa board that i was kinda keeping up to date since id thought this place had died..which didnt help my moral any

huge copy pasta dump of text..skip if you like or read on

if anyone wants a history lesson of the crap shoot ive been thru over the past couple years getting my footing ill post it, but the short version, my wifes imported, never trust anyone, and life throws the worst curve balls youll never see comming and ppl love to kick you while your down and the next and the next

with everything thats hit me hard over the past 6 years it aint been a vacation its been a dragging thru hell a cascade of avalanches stacked up, but the most recent issues hit me hard and killed my mojo for building and my wife turned to me and said, you need to tell everyone to goto hell and go work on some of your own toys and bring the fun of what you do back into your life

mind you i build cars for guys, rust repairs suspension swaps etc, lets put it simple, randy was the last one to pay me my worth...but ...alots gone wrong in these 6 year ALOT, a pretty sexy gtv(105/115) is on that list, anyone got some c4 and want to make me feel better?

so im taking her advise, and the lloyd IS the top of the list, especialy after finding out speedhunters was at my local micro car show last year..and i wasnt there with the lloyd......

over the years ive NEVER stopped thinking about the build, how to solve issues that id gotten stuck at and had to build on from another directions etc

i believe ive solved how to do a power windshield and get it to seal

part way thru a solution on the rear side glass as ive sat in the car enough to know my arm needs to exit here when cruising but i really dont want a "split" slider so i look tward the 50s where the rear side glass of my 58 ford actualy goes down on a curve with a low back point as the pivot

cooling...this has been a DISASTER and stumped the hell out of me up until weeks ago, id considered rads in the fenders, multiple rad setups etc, but theres ZERO space in front of the pulleys for a rad , i even considered louvering the hood and mouting a rad in the hood....sooooo, the engine MUST GO BACK, theres a mile of space in the firewall to push it back, just need to modify a few things a small starter dimple in the firewall and i can gain 3+inches, more than enough for a traditional rad...which leads to exhaust issues

the exhaust has a full plan now and will be...STRANGE, terminating in a BRAND NEW but who knows how long its been on the shelf english made ferarri 308 stainless muffler...something out of randys stash of parts that im sitting on that would never fit under the mondial(i tried), the fit up into the lloyd as is looks to be as if id built the car for it all along...fate

a friend of mine along the way made me some VERY sweet custom 1 off circuit boards for my tail lights, more specificly heavy duty that will mount in the sockets and be the base for the LED's which will finish those off

i recently came across some pontiac? guage pods that may get integrated into the dash, 50s/early 60s and fit well next to the 54 ford speedo, its a cast unit of 2, i need to find a matching unit for my plan

with some crazy custom work on a ex police cruiser crown vic it forced research into materials for grills etc, while the grill wont be changing i found sources for all of my interior inlays

rebuild kits for the masters in in a box, new rubbers for the driveline are in a box, my own hand made wiring harness and fuse box are ready, power window units new and used, power locks, ive actualy got a nice assortment of new and slightly used parts ready to roll, my needs list is actualy short, window/door seals, rad, driveline re-cut n balance, speedo cable, glass

if everything keeps going the direction its going ill have the lloyd back in my 20x20 shop in a few weeks...of course i may just tell everyone off and do it sooner, this week will be the deciding factor

but hey..im BACK

---------------------------------------------

sooo been doing alot...actualy a metric ton of sorting, shuffling and tetrising of parts, cars and such, that said..the lloyds found her way back in my ole 20x20 after leaving it in well a few days ago 2011, mind you shes been here shelved for quite a while since the farm went uhh...sideways

with all my sorting ive found even more parts to sell IE everything that doesnt goto a car im keeping or fixing so alot of randys old stash, parts id stashed etc, basicly all alfa stuff thats NOT gtv6/alfetta gt in fact even all the 4cyl parts milano parts alfeta sedan, spider, a lil gtv, in that sorting so far ive actualy come across a bunch more NOS, new, lightly used etc parts that the lloyd can and will be using enough to fill a couple totes

with photobucket being TRASH and totaly ruining my old pics, ill kinda start fresh

---------------------------------------------------------------------

so lemmy rattle off a few things to those new, those old who forgot, and those who never noticed

the amount of lloyd that remains is just 3/4 of the body shell ie half the doors, the rear door, roof and half the fenders and the window frame, thats where the lloyd ends

the amount of milano is even slimmer, 28? or 21? inches i hacked out of its length to shorten it, in fact the rear line is about 8 inches, the rear didion forward mount is 10 inches from the t-bars. everything "outside" the rails is all hand fab, rails to tunnel are mostly milano up front and out bacek but from the pad under the tank forward to the tbar section again is all hand fab, up front the milano stops at the top of the shock towers all the way around, the fitment is so tight the transaxle clutch is litterally in your hip

now for some fun specs...while i had the race scales out at one point i scaled her with battery 10gals of water(think fuel tank) all of the milanos wiring(my hand made harness is 1/4 the weight), seats etc, missing from weight is ac, glass, power window motors carpet etc, i tossed anything in the right areas i could to mimic final parts....weight was just over 1800lbs something like 1823, my goal has always been to shoot for under 2k lbs, honestly i think its reachable

height 52 inches
length 129inches
wheelbase 78 inch
width at widest point 61.5inches

so heres where shes been sitting since a hasty escape from the farm

so have a pile of pics of how shes weatherd life , all said shes not too bad and alot of the surface rust you see will almost wipe off, and would you just look at all that CAST cavern of space behind the engine....this will get used up SOON as once of my LARGEST headaches and stumbling blocks has been, how do i fit a rad in here more pics more explanation coming

meh a boring well running but oil leaking 2.5

so this is my issue and brain child, rad space, note the level being used as a straight edge, thats 1.5inch tube, and the opening about 25 inches with a max height of 15...ive no idea if that s enough cooling(hopefully on a 3inch thick aluminum crossflow rad? i need help here) "space" but as it stands i dont even have a full 1 inch due to water neck etc, and then you look out back..holy hell 3+ inches of wasted space the big concern ive seen from shots of gtv6 was a lack of space in regards to the oil pan...seems to be a non issue here, on a further side note, if you managed to push the engine back on a stock car youd be able to drop the exhaust out BEHIND the rack

so the engine got yanked, and i do have a serious suprise up my sleeves here once the "setback" of the engine gets figured out, ive got more sorting sifting and shuffling to do as well, so the lloyd isnt so much my primary focus right now but more of a weekend project till i get it all done, then i intend to push HARD

my current plan will be to make a "jig" that the pan will bolt to and it will bolt to the motor mounts and the bellhousing thus something "light" and easily moved about as i mod to make this work, bonus..the engines out of the way and i can do all the engine bay welding i couldnt get at

and remember guys check those rubber bastards!!!!!!!!!
