if anyone wants a history lesson of the crap shoot ive been thru over the past couple years getting my footing ill post it, but the short version, my wifes imported, never trust anyone, and life throws the worst curve balls youll never see comming and ppl love to kick you while your down and the next and the next
with everything thats hit me hard over the past 6 years it aint been a vacation its been a dragging thru hell a cascade of avalanches stacked up, but the most recent issues hit me hard and killed my mojo for building and my wife turned to me and said, you need to tell everyone to goto hell and go work on some of your own toys and bring the fun of what you do back into your life
mind you i build cars for guys, rust repairs suspension swaps etc, lets put it simple, randy was the last one to pay me my worth...but ...alots gone wrong in these 6 year ALOT, a pretty sexy gtv(105/115) is on that list, anyone got some c4 and want to make me feel better?
so im taking her advise, and the lloyd IS the top of the list, especialy after finding out speedhunters was at my local micro car show last year..and i wasnt there with the lloyd......
over the years ive NEVER stopped thinking about the build, how to solve issues that id gotten stuck at and had to build on from another directions etc
i believe ive solved how to do a power windshield and get it to seal
part way thru a solution on the rear side glass as ive sat in the car enough to know my arm needs to exit here when cruising but i really dont want a "split" slider so i look tward the 50s where the rear side glass of my 58 ford actualy goes down on a curve with a low back point as the pivot
cooling...this has been a DISASTER and stumped the hell out of me up until weeks ago, id considered rads in the fenders, multiple rad setups etc, but theres ZERO space in front of the pulleys for a rad , i even considered louvering the hood and mouting a rad in the hood....sooooo, the engine MUST GO BACK, theres a mile of space in the firewall to push it back, just need to modify a few things a small starter dimple in the firewall and i can gain 3+inches, more than enough for a traditional rad...which leads to exhaust issues
the exhaust has a full plan now and will be...STRANGE, terminating in a BRAND NEW but who knows how long its been on the shelf english made ferarri 308 stainless muffler...something out of randys stash of parts that im sitting on that would never fit under the mondial(i tried), the fit up into the lloyd as is looks to be as if id built the car for it all along...fate
a friend of mine along the way made me some VERY sweet custom 1 off circuit boards for my tail lights, more specificly heavy duty that will mount in the sockets and be the base for the LED's which will finish those off
i recently came across some pontiac? guage pods that may get integrated into the dash, 50s/early 60s and fit well next to the 54 ford speedo, its a cast unit of 2, i need to find a matching unit for my plan
with some crazy custom work on a ex police cruiser crown vic it forced research into materials for grills etc, while the grill wont be changing i found sources for all of my interior inlays
rebuild kits for the masters in in a box, new rubbers for the driveline are in a box, my own hand made wiring harness and fuse box are ready, power window units new and used, power locks, ive actualy got a nice assortment of new and slightly used parts ready to roll, my needs list is actualy short, window/door seals, rad, driveline re-cut n balance, speedo cable, glass
if everything keeps going the direction its going ill have the lloyd back in my 20x20 shop in a few weeks...of course i may just tell everyone off and do it sooner, this week will be the deciding factor
but hey..im BACK
---------------------------------------------
sooo been doing alot...actualy a metric ton of sorting, shuffling and tetrising of parts, cars and such, that said..the lloyds found her way back in my ole 20x20 after leaving it in well a few days ago 2011, mind you shes been here shelved for quite a while since the farm went uhh...sideways
with all my sorting ive found even more parts to sell IE everything that doesnt goto a car im keeping or fixing so alot of randys old stash, parts id stashed etc, basicly all alfa stuff thats NOT gtv6/alfetta gt in fact even all the 4cyl parts milano parts alfeta sedan, spider, a lil gtv, in that sorting so far ive actualy come across a bunch more NOS, new, lightly used etc parts that the lloyd can and will be using enough to fill a couple totes
with photobucket being TRASH and totaly ruining my old pics, ill kinda start fresh
---------------------------------------------------------------------
so lemmy rattle off a few things to those new, those old who forgot, and those who never noticed
the amount of lloyd that remains is just 3/4 of the body shell ie half the doors, the rear door, roof and half the fenders and the window frame, thats where the lloyd ends
the amount of milano is even slimmer, 28? or 21? inches i hacked out of its length to shorten it, in fact the rear line is about 8 inches, the rear didion forward mount is 10 inches from the t-bars. everything "outside" the rails is all hand fab, rails to tunnel are mostly milano up front and out bacek but from the pad under the tank forward to the tbar section again is all hand fab, up front the milano stops at the top of the shock towers all the way around, the fitment is so tight the transaxle clutch is litterally in your hip
now for some fun specs...while i had the race scales out at one point i scaled her with battery 10gals of water(think fuel tank) all of the milanos wiring(my hand made harness is 1/4 the weight), seats etc, missing from weight is ac, glass, power window motors carpet etc, i tossed anything in the right areas i could to mimic final parts....weight was just over 1800lbs something like 1823, my goal has always been to shoot for under 2k lbs, honestly i think its reachable
height 52 inches
length 129inches
wheelbase 78 inch
width at widest point 61.5inches
so heres where shes been sitting since a hasty escape from the farm
