The New Yorker.

I have NO Sure-Grip 8.75's anyways and the only open complete diff I have is in a '72 New Yorker and is probably a mile to wide.

The '72 rear axle will fit just as well as the later 9¼". As I noted above, '71-up B-body wagons all came with C-body axle assemblies.

I personally prefer the 8¾" for its ease of center-section service and fast ratio swaps (as long as you have a spare pig lying around). However the 9¼" is quite a bit stronger, the wheel bearings are a cakewalk, and it's far less expensive from a parts standpoint. Price out wheel bearings and seals for both... and you don't have to press the 9¼" bearings. I'm not a big fan of C-clip axle retention, but I have never seen one fail on a 9¼". I can't say that about the weakling 8¼" as I've seen a few of those come unglued and do significant body damage on the way out.

I also prefer the clean look of the 8¾", and I'm probably a little further biased by the fact that I have like 9 zillion parts lying around for 'em left over from the eBay days. :D

You'll get no argument from me on that. Hell, you have all the stuff already except an installation kit and ring-gear bolts... just don't try and skimp by not using all new bearings, crush sleeve, and ring-gear bolts.

If you want to check how tight the diff is, it's easy. All you need is a friend of small, skinny stature. Jack the car up, and have him hold one tire still while you try to turn the other. Do it fast and without warning. If you flip him on his head, it's still good.

Dammit, got my A/C serviced last week and it stopped working on Saturday so I took it back to the shop today and I they said there is a large hole in the Evaporator unit.

So they removed the retro fit kit and refunded me my money for the servicing and said I need to change my evaporator

I'm hoping that outta my three '78-'79 Cordobas one of them has a good evaporator or I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and buy a $200 new one. :doubt:

Crap, Crap CRAP!!! :wall:

A good shop would have checked for leaks before loading the system. :toot:

They did check for leaks before they filled it and the A/C worked for about 4 days and then it just stopped blowing cold.

The hole just showed up about 4-5 days after the refill.

Hey is this right?

I weighed my car at the local DOT scale the other day and it told me my car weighs 3997lbs.

Is that right?

Got my horn button installed today and to my surprise I found ANOTHER build sheet in my car.
