Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

Testing testing! Things have changed a bit, on the forum & in my life, retired at the end of last year & finally got back to repainting the car.
Thought I'd have it ready in the spring for car season, but ended being a total redo with a slight color change, more on that as I catch up with you guys, that is if anyone remembers me!
It's now ready to hit the for sale block so I can start on "The Texas 'Cuda" gotta be 15 years it's been waiting for me.

So I'll start with what should be a pretty simple question, was gonna take her for a ride the other day & it stalled leaving the driveway, had a hard time restarting, had to stick a screw driver in to keep the choke open (she was already up to temp) cancelled the ride & put her back IN THE GARAGE!!!
Thinking maybe a tune up was in order been sitting a lot of years with only 15 or 20 minuet runs to keep the battery charged, but when I took a look I noticed the choke wire was off, must have dislodged when I repainted the valve covers, there's 2 loose wires near it, a brown coming back from alternater area & a bouble with black & green coming from the fire wall, which should be on the choke!

So here she is in the fresh paint, a lot more than I wanted to do, but because of the color change & jamming the doors & such it became a real project.
Price was the cause of that, sticker shock when I went to PPG store to order the paint, first they couldn't even mix the code I was using so color would not be guaranteed to match & next it would be 1200, yes 1thousand 2 hundred for a gal.
So with the clear & all the mixers it was close to 2 K.
Got a recco on a body supply with sherman williams & walked out with paint & clear around 600.
Considering the value it might add to the sale, then it was worth it!

The paint had less solids & whatever causes the color change in the light, but the metallic shows more on this. I think, all in all I'm happy with the results, again, it's a five footer, get close & there are many defects, but I think a good back yard paint job & at the minimum driver quality!
I even ditched the painted rear bumper & sprung for a repop!

Didn't do too much in the engine bay, redid the peeling car color valve covers in chrysler blue & the air cleaner cover in the original E7 paint I had left over, a tad darker than the new color.
Had to buy a new washer bottle it disintagrated when I went to wipe off the original one!

Nice to see a familiar face on here. Been quite a while. Good looking car now. Myself I retired 9 yrs ago this past September. Best thing for my health I ever did.

Still trying to settle in on that, with winter coming wondering what to do all day, I have My Fathers HO trains, but can't do that 12 hours a day.
I've talked to Mr 340 once in a while, Greg 340 moved out to California. I see some of the guys posting on face book but I don't go there often either.
Cleaned up the 74 "Texas cuda, much mouse poop & nut shells , that's been waiting on me bout 15 years, but now that I know what I'm up against & am quite a bit older it seems a much more daunting task, but if I don't do it I'll go stir crazy!

Up till this September I was babysitting my grandson who started JK, while my daughter went to her part time job. I also go to the local senior centre 3 days a week in the morning. We have a foursome and play snooker. I have just recently started to take my 10 month old Chesapoo ( Chesapeake Bay Retriever x Standard Poodle) to 2 local retirement home to make some seniors smile. It is very heart warming.

As of now 1 day a week with the grandkids, one 5 & the other a few months old, one day visiting & helping Mom, she just turned 92 in sept & has decided she can't stay at home alone anymore, so were trying to figure out what's best, part time help leaves me nervous if something happened at night, my house is an option but being in NJ, makes it harder on my sisters in NY (that's where mom is) also looking at assisted living near them & near me.
Not much of a joiner or pet person so those good ideas are not for me, I'll just have to add another hobby or two!

Hey guys! What a great job Rusty did on that Cuda.

This getting older thing is, well, getting old! Jester is 40 already. Only 25 years of working left!

Mixed results so far, winter coming will be the boredom test, gotta find some way to work on the 74 at least some of the time!

40! your just gettin started, too bad most of it will be down hill from there!

Maybe I should call Donnie & have him check in too!

Yeah, it feels like we work most of our youth away, and enjoy the rewards for the last quarter of life.

Gotta enjoy every minute, even at work lol.

maybe you should have called him when you were painting the car again, I'm sure he would have been happy to pop in and assist ( i'm pretty tight with him, ya know)

Be very proud Rusty. As a newbie with limited knowledge when you first joined, you have come a long way.
