Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

I went out and looked at the setup on the LeBaron, but unfortunately it's totally different than what's found on B/E-cars, so I have no wisdom for you. It almost looks like the seatcovers are pulled too tight in the gapped areas, but perhaps Stretch can shed some light on this, having had to mess with his back seat a few times.

I've spent a fair amount of time in the back seats of cars....:toot:.....but it hard to tell without seeing it first-hand.

If you guys are done slandering slurpy Sally we can get back to the task at hand!:bwuhaha:
It's the seat covers, put the 74 seats in & they are fine, both upper & lower are pulled too tight, gonna say it's probably weak foam(I hope, hmmm or do I ?)
My plan is to make chains out of the hog rings & loosen em up a bit, if that don't work I'll bring em back to the shop & see what he says, maybe add some foam?
Damn, that last pic is a nice angle on the car, looks deeeeeeeep! Rich.

I don't think that adding foam by itself will solve anything. It looks like the covers were either drawn way too tight or they were just sewn too small, causing them to be drawn too tight.

Thats why my first step is to loosen the corset(now what the F is that the young uns are saying)buy adding "links" I'll see if there gonna fluff up some, if not it goes back to the shop with the blue seat as a template, looks like I might have enough material to make it work, I'll pop a few next chance I get & see what happens? hopin for the best, but thats usually a lost cause with this car!

Rather successful day for a change :naughty:
Messed with the seats & got em where I can live with it, loosened up both upper & lower covers, padded drivers side of upper & both sides of lower, had hog link chains on but was affraid they would tear up the covers, so I went to my old stand by, thermostat wire! still a small gap o the drivers side but I can live with it! :dgt:

Got the drivers door pannel on after a few on & offs! mirror cable was hanging up had to add a clamp to the outer door structure, BTW aftermarket panel clips suck!:(
Ended up using an old set of inner wiskers, my car had 4 of em, both inner & outer all the same, don't ask me how but thats what was on there, 2 of em were still decent so they are on now. Gonna send back the aftermarket crap with instructions on how to make em right!:doubt:
NOw I just need the upper panel clips, which I probably have somewhere buy I forgot what they look like!

In the mean time we fixed charger mans fuel guage, after pullin the tank, checking his sending unit on my car(just wired it up outside the tank) & a lot of other wasted steps we found a bad splice right in the trunk! Go Figger! :hmmm:

Put the old window fuzzy on the pass side where the crap aftermarkek one popped off(even with some silicone adhesive) need the clips there too, but they seem to be on pretty good, guess time will tell, so for the most part the interior is complete, few details to work on but driveable fer sure! Rich
Now I gotta get some time to continue the insurance quest!

I'm not really an E-body Fish fan but yours looks GOOD! Especially considering what you started out with!

Now I gotta get some time to continue the insurance quest!
You might want to PM Stretchemite about that one. He's dealt with a couple of classic-car insurers, and gets a pretty good deal on the Charger without fine print that says he can only drive in parades and such.

Am trying chubb, right here in jersey, applied & got an email back asking exactly where I keep the car, listing street, driveway or car port, I describbed my situation best I could & will await their answer, quote was 123 , & the way the worded it( then we can procede) I'm hopeful that this will be it! :helpme: Rich.
I ask the stretchmister if allelse fails! Thanks Rich.

 Well it seems I may have insurance, gonna pay through the nose on a car that will mostly sit idle, but allstate will do an agreed value on the car, I have to move my other cars over but I'll actually save a small amount on those. So bassisly will cost a little MORE than my new charger but the garage is NOT an issue!
Waiting to see if I have to get an appraissal (sp) & hopefully in a week or so I can apply for my QQ plates! :helpme: Rich.

Yep, I've gotton quotes from 136 to 312 Every one ran the other way when the garage issue came up, even one that was reccomended the guy said he just paid a small surcharge, well I called that one & flat out said must be garaged, maybe they just don't like the old Rusty one, can i sue , garageless prejudice!
If you take off the 100 or so I save on the other two cars it will end up around 600 a year out of pocket! sucks but at least I have full coverage, & i can drive it anytime anywhere, throw some tools in the trunk & run some service calls!
Gives a whole new meaning to FAST service!:bwuhaha:

K, the appraiser is comming next sat am, so by the time I get the report, switch over the insurance & send away for my QQ plates, well I might be drivin by mid july!
well at least I'll know a realistic value of the money pit, the paint job worries me the most, how much it will loose because of the amature job, well now I just have to wait it out & hope I get a decent value put on the car for the insurance? Rich.

K reshot the trunk lid today, also got the air cleaner done, won't know how much better it is till I wet sand tomorrow, but Resto, I left in some peal on each coat & went 3 to hopefully avoid hittin color! :helpme:
if it comes out real good I may attempt a few more sore spots, still waitin on the appraisal, hopefully monday! later,Rich.
