Not A Duster's Most Excellent Progress

Thanks guys.

Tonite just saw getting hoses n' accessories hooked up. After test fitting an mocking up over n' over again, this stuff is all pretty much bolted in. Gonna pull the carb and wrap this in plastic for the car's next visit to the bodyshop...

Wow, Nodda--everything's lookin' really good.

Thanks Doc - that means a lot to me.

Actually, I have you to bla - er thank for the underside looking as good as it does....seemed a shame to install such a pretty rear end into a grungy undercarraige....

So I scraped surface rust n' crud all winter....:doubt:

:D :D

I can already smell the rubber off the rear tires.:nanna:

Hopefully I will be before too long.

Although I think once I am done, I won't be engaging in too much tomfoolery - I really won't be able to afford to break anything.

Say what...???? a mopar break????

Speaking of breaking...

What year brake MC is that? Did it come off a disk/drum or drum/drum vehicle?

*looks at garage in background*
*looks at engine bay*

It'll never see dirt, will it?

Nice job, nodda!

He will float it around in a bubble, like the Good Witch of the North. :D

I can already visualize Nodda's reaction to the first stone chip. [smilie=f:

Yah know Bruce, I'm gonna have to race that Demon with the wagon if you come to the show at Goodspirit Lake.[smilie=i:

I might even hand out a whoopin.:shifty::toot:

Heh... with a Streetmaster intake, I think it's more believable that you'd be handing out $50 bills. :D

Hey, it works pretty good![smilie=f:

If yah want to get picky about intakes I've got a Performer here I could put on.

But....

The intake really ain't gonna matter since I have stock 302 heads with 318 ports.

The ports on that StreetMaster fit the heads perfectly.:D

I think me and Bruce will be pretty close.;)

Heh... I think you're pretty deluded. The Streetmaster is simply the worst four-barrel intake ever produced for the LA engine, with the sole exception of the fairly-rare Edelbrock SP2P. Pair that with the scrap-value-only 302 heads, and you're trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose. :D

Should he waste his time, Nodda would beat you like a rented red-headed step-goat.

Now, put some 340/360 heads and a stock four-barrel intake on it (even a mid'80s truck/cop intake--or even better, a good single-plane), and you'd see real improvement. The stock intake makes a ton more power than the Performer--and it absolutely blows away the Streetmaster, which was designed primarily for fuel mileage back in the '70s.

302 heads are one of the greatest hoaxes ever pulled on the Mopar community. They're junk, junk, junk. Ported to the absolute maximum (about $1500 worth), they flow less than a stock X head, which flows less than a stock 2.02" J. But there's tons of 'em out there, so the pro shops push 'em because they can get them easily, and they brag of the increase in compression. Screw the compression increase; compression is important but air in/air out means power. No go without flow.

Sorry 'bout the hijack, Nodda.

No problem Doc - I'm glad to have the opportunity to read & learn from your posts again.

DW would likely keep pretty close to me. But only because at the moment I think I'm going to be pampering the car. I think I will have just enough available $$$ to insure the thing once I'm done....no money for replacing broken parts...or a tow truck ride home from Yorkton.

We just may have to wait 'til next year to put it to the test....[smilie=i:

rented red-head step goat? That some kinda GTO? :D

Well all that I can say to that is it was my first build and I had next to no cash to build with and about those X and J whatever heads you were talking about, the odds of finding diamonds in your back yard would be better then finding a set of those out here, and I didn't have money to pay $100+ shipping for a set that needed to be rebuilt from the states.

I didn't have any other intake to work with, not even a cast iron 4bbl one.

Keep in mind, I have factory dished pistons too.

Gimme a break man. :doubt:
