Not A Duster's Most Excellent Progress

Why not? Just drain the coolant into a clean bucket so you can reuse it. It wont hurt anything to run it dry for a minute or less. Gotta have the oil in it first obviously though.

Thanks everybody.

Only got a couple hours in this evening. Got my heater hose problem soreted out and the intake ready to install. Did some other small things like painting the battery bax and so-on...

I see you found the Weatherhead chest of drawers at the hardware store...

Lookin' good, Nodda... not you, the car.

That's actually an air hose adaptor to reduce 3/8" hose to 1/4" fittings. The Brass finish is kinda odd I guess, I though about paintig it, but then it occured to me that it matched the temp sender...

Would you look at that clean bench.

I know, it's sickening.

Even if I spend a couple hours cleaning our workbench it never looks that good, plus my husband will have it cluttered again in mere minutes. :D

Good work so far Mr. NoddaDuster.

I'm the same way too, all the popular sockets and screwdrivers just stay at the bench:D
Cars looking great Not a Duster:cool:

...Some day I will post a pic of the messy side of the bench....

Had the day off today - did a lot of stuff, but it didn't seem like I accomplished much.

Here's something I have never done before: Reconditioned an alternator. Pretty easy actually with the kit from my local "Auto-Value parts store." :D

Cost about 1/2 as much as a reman including the cheapo chinese bench grinder I bought at Princess Auto to use wire wheels in.

You remembered to put the isolators back under the screws for the feeds on the back right? :shifty::doubt:

One thing that has always frustrated me is trying to keep the finish on battery trays.

I tried something a little different on this one. I had some left over "plasti-dip' plastic tool coating, so I just poured the can over the tray, swished it around until it was completely coated with the thick goo & hung it up over nite...

Ended upt with a nice plastic/rubber coating that I hope will be a little more resistant to the fumes & acid...

...can't be any worse than paint.

Pulled the dash apart, so it is ready to be sprayed blue with the rest of the car. I was originally gonna leave it black, but changed my mind.

Did a whole buncha other stuff like patching a small tear in the base of the back seat and getting it ready to dye. Spray - died some soft plastic parts for the front seat as well.

Finally, at the end of the day, I did this to relax & unwind. Bough the handle at last week's swap meet for a few dollars, cleaned all the corrosion off and polished it a bit then applied some of my viper blue touch-up paint where it used to be black....

Pic up a jell cell battery. No fumes no leaks no worries. I had an Idea about a cover to make them look like the old batteries but never got anywhere with it because the + and – studs are in the wrong positions.

Someone makes those covers....even for the side post batteries I think..

*goes link hunting.*
