84 Crewcab...AKA..Patches

It might not. I have the same style of hoist, and it drops capacity with arm length. It'll hold a bunch of weight, but that doesn't do you any good when you can't put it where you need it. Fully extended, it's 1,500lbs but that's getting close. It also looks like he's working uphill, so I'm sure that was a consideration.

I thought the same, I'd rather dump them in as a unit too. I'm not sure what the NV4500 with the transfer case weighs, but it can't be light. I know my NV5600 weighs close to 500lbs in the 2wd configuration. What does the 12V Cummins weigh, 800-900 lbs?

All the above guys. Yes working by myself on an uphill drive way, I barely got the motor in. And then as Doc mentioned there is the weight of the combo to consider, Motor and trans weigh well over 1500lbs....and that's without the transfer case at another 150lbs.

Plus there is the fact that I'm a gluten for punishment....:D

you just want to benchpress that bugger in dont you...and fight with aligning splines.....course if your creative...you cen actualy use your hoist to lift the trans and tcase into place using the 4x cover access hole....its a lil akward and you cant totaly place it...but you can get it close enuf that with a floor jack to pickup the tail end you can muscle it all into place....i did it a few times on my rc many many many years back

Well I woke up to snow this morning....

But I still went ahead and got the tranny in today.... ;)

I was freezing and soaked after that...so I called the rest of the day a "Snow day". Went sledding with my daughters instead....:)

yeah i knew you got hit this morning...as i get a heads up everymorning if there is snow...thanx to my girl being in victoria..

Dedication right thur!!! :D

The trans jack I bought wasn't rated high enough to get the trans back into my truck. I had to use a pair of floor jacks to get the lift.

That must have sucked!! I had to roll the trans up onto the floor jack once everything was under the truck. Then jack...balance...align, and repeat. Glad I got it in though. ;)

Don't remember if I posted it originally, but when I got it back in and bolted up I looked over and saw the throw out bearing and clutch fork lying on the ground... I just went inside for the day after that. It went it so smoothly, that time. Fought me the second, but we know how that ended :D

I remembered your fiasco...I made double sure everything was in place properly before I started. ;) :)

Well now that Christmas is over....I have been able to work on the truck the last couple days.

Got the tranny cross member all pulled apart...cleaned up...and painted.

As well as several hours cleaning nuts, and bolts on the wire wheel.

And today I got the tranny mount in...mostly. I had hoped that at least a couple of the existing holes would line up with the bracket....nope. So will have to drill all 12 of them.

I still need to get the upper brackets in, and then those 6 holes drilled.

Today I got the cab mounts swapped. Turned out the crewcab already had a set of poly bushing cab mounts. But since I had new ones...and did not know how old the old ones were...I decided to swap them in anyway.

Used some big dunage to lift one side at a time. The opposite side was loose...but still bolted in place. And then Just list it high enough to wrestle the old bushing out.

New ones in and bolted down. I spent a few minutes making sure the cab was square on the chassis. Checked measurements from side to side, and front to back.

And I got the transfer case installed. Went pretty smooth considering it was just me and my floor jack, on a sloping driveway....;)

And then I decided to dismantle and clean my front bumper. Got all the black plastic pads off...and then polished it up as best I could.

Will have to repair a couple of the plastic pockets the studs slip into...but shouldn't cause me too much grief.
