84 Crewcab...AKA..Patches

i could "try" and dig up the pics but with my terabyte drive FULL its hard to find anything...but the gamer bus was a GMC nosed short bus used by a retierment home..after much work it became the gamer bus and i boothed that whole pig off in my driveway with pvc ..that was a BIG tent..primed body primed and 2 coats of a arctic gray...that was a TON of paint too...nice thing is i have the plastic and pvc all rolled up in a box up in my shop rafters

litteraly had to paint it in sections..it was sooo HOT even with the slowest reducer you couldnt lay paint fast enuf

on a side note about an indoor garage booth...staple thick mil plastic to the rafters with enuf to drape down on the sides..most rolls are wide enuf to do this..let it overlap onto the floor atleast 2 feet..and do basicaly floor, wall, ceiling, wall, floor..now those wall parts do NOT need to be actual building walls they can be free standing...next add the front and back..use duct tape the good stuff to seal it off..now at the top in the back add a furnace filter and a box fan..do the same for the front...wala instant indoor booth that works VERY VERY well..no need of ABS as everything just hangs from the rafters...if your using "cheep" thin plastic the staples will pull out in which case use some slats of wood ..the thick mill stuff doesnt tear easy so staples will hold it....i personaly had a removeable panel on the floor so i could "take out" the spray dust

Talked to my neighbour the other day...he says we can use his work's shop to paint. They do big fiberglass truck parts and stuff. Anyway he has a big indoor wash bay the boss said we can use. We will be painting his 63 Impala in there within the next year too.

Well today I went and got the box LineX'd. I'm very happy with the results.

Before....

And after....

Also got the new motor installed in the heater box....it blows a bit harder then the original that's for sure. Before you could barely feel any air moving on the lowest setting...now you can. And there is also considerably more air moving on the high setting.

I had heard Line-X went under. :wtf: Maybe just in the American market?

Looks good though! Surprised you didn't go over the top rails of the bed with it also.

Both my truck and my son's Dakota have the Rhino up over the edge of the box and the tailgate and looks good and really protects those areas well. Would never have a truck without as it is virtually indestructable.

Looking good!

My Super Duty had Rhino liner I think, it went to the top of the bed on the inside, but it also had the factory plastic bed and tailgate caps. I need to get my Ram done, I'm debating on ordering the aftermarket plastic bed caps or having them covered with the bed liner. It has holes drilled in it and a few dents where an errant wheel barrow bounced off the top when someone lost their temper. :toot:

I was going to get it up over the rails...but decided I want to go with either a stainless bed rail, or an aluminum piece.

Well today I thought I'd tackle the window seals on the back doors...turned out to be a bit more of a job then I planned so only got the one door done today.

Here's how the fun went....The old seals were so cooked and dry that the windows would only roll down a little. It took a lot of chipping and breaking to get the old seals out.

Old seals in place...

My snap-on pick I use so often...little piece by little piece the seals came out...

After about an hour I finally got everything out of the way.

That pick stuck in the window makes me thing you just went, "Fuck it!" *stabs pick into place* and walked away to take a break. :D

The outer window seals were a bit of a job since the glass was still in place..the upright seal by the little fixed window went in not bad, but the other one was a bit more work.

First off the new seal had 2 pins attached to it..but since I'm using seals for front doors..no kit available for dodge crewcab rear doors...these pins had to be removed. Guess you could try and install them in the right location but the seals I removed never had these anyway.

Seal with tabs to be removed...

Here is one of the locations for the pins. You can see it was never used.

And here you can see if I lined up the pins as installed it would leave a 1" gap.

Once I got the outer seals installed I moved on to the window felts/sweepers. I had hoped they would be a simple trim and install, but no luck there. :(

Here you can see the differences...

Little bit of work to do. I carefully used a small screwdriver to bend over the tabs on the clips. But be careful since they tend to break off due to the thin spring steel they are made from. The used a fine set of needle nose pliers to wiggle them free.

PICT6639_zps660d898e.jpg

I left the one clip in place and removed the other three.

Then I measured the original clip location and marked the new location on the new seal.

PICT6633_zps45cb3afb.jpg

Then I put the clip in place and pushed it down firmly. This left and indentation in the soft outer layer.

PICT6631_zpsab76f59b.jpg

Then I used a small drill bit to drill through the seal...it has a metal core. As well it gave the new clip a starting area to get pushed through.

PICT6632_zps00fe337e.jpg

Once the holes were drilled I used a big set of channel lock pliers, and a thick washer to push the clips through the seal. I then held the clip in place with the channel locks and carefully bent the little tabs over. Again it is likely that you will break a few of these tabs. Use the old ones from the original seals as spares.

So here's one of them done.

PICT6636_zps59bc80bb.jpg

Then it was measure and trim with a good pair of tin snips.

PICT6640_zps6b05f38e.jpg

And install...

PICT6641_zps038d3823.jpg

And all finished up....Well that took longer then planned...:)

And I also painted the door panel at this time as well....
