70 Sport Satellite build

J.C. Corbett

or something.....
Ok nuts, here goes. 2-11-08. The Satellite is in my shop, and all of the trim has been removed, and a majority of the body has been blocked with 180, revealing only small door dings, which will take only minor bodywork. Tonight, the goal is to get the bumpers, grille, door handles & locks removed, and fully attack the body. I'll take pictures tonight, and continue with progress posts. My goal is to have the car ready for paint by May. So, let's see if I can do it. Stay tuned...:bravo:

I still don't see anything about buying a 70 coronet front clip, nose cone or rear wing! what's up with that?

As it turns out, one of the guys in our company body shop is a master at polishing aluminum. You'd have thought working for a heavy truck dealership, I'd have figured that one out sooner.:shifty: Anyhow, today he's taking my early 70's vintage Ansen Sprint 5 slots and making them pretty. This may be debatable, but I think they look great on most 68 and later cars. I'll try to post pics of the bodywork tomorrow.

i had a set on my first car.... a 74 charger and i thought they looked "boss" ha ha ha

I have those wheels on my '70 Satty they do look good on there...

MMMMMM polished slots!!!

sooo what kind of $$$$ you going to have to dish out for said polishing?
Since it's an in house job, he's cutting me a break, and doing it for $100. The wheels are in super shape, so he's not going to sand them, just polish. This way, the wheels will still retain the original machine lines, yet be shiny. By the way, it runs GOOD!!:giggedy: I fired the engine for a couple of minutes this weekend, and it sounds terrific. In order to do so, I had to rig an auxiliary fuel source, but it worked. Tonight I'll try to get the fuel line disconnected from the tank & try to blow compressed air through it, then flush it. Due to flu, I didn't get as much of the body done as I wanted last week, but this should turn out to be a productive week.

where the hell are the pics? WTF man.... ya been teasin and teasin about pics.... and still nothing....

If you have to blow out the line why not just replace it and then there will be no surprises after? Line is cheap and surprises are not.

You want pics?? Huh???? Well, do you?? You're screwed, then. You'll have to settle for these shitty shots.[smilie=J: The wheels turned out really nice. These guys can polish aluminum. They're not perfect, but I asked him for driver quality, and got much better. The body is roughed in, and now all I need to do is remove the bumpers, grille, marker lenses, fender emblems, and drip rail mouldings, and finish sand, then we're ready to be primed. The car is so straight, that none of what you see is actually full fledged body filler. It's all polyester glaze, and must be applied thin.:giggedy: Just door dings. Here we go......:)

The pickup and sender have been replaced, so that's good to go. The fuel line blew out just fine last night, so now I can take off my auxiliary fuel supply.

I'll try to get down to the body shop & ask Wally today what he'd charge.

Nice rig, bring it by and lets see it up close. Well, when there is not a foot of fresh snow on the ground that is.

I would go with the original color as we talked about and white top.
