1982 Cordoba Stock Car.

When they came out with that rule at the local track some of the guys removed the torque converter and ran a direct link to the trans. With some strategically placed holes drilled in the valve body it bleeds off just enough pressure to allow slippage at idle.

It works out even better than a stick. No more flywheel or torque converter weight to slow down the RPM's or to keep the R's up when you hit the turns.

No clutch pedal....it must be an auto......right.:toot:

that basicaly converts it into how most "clutchless" bikes and quads are doesnt it?..you can shift but you can stop and have the thing just slip..i ask cause my honda quad actualy uses the same plates as a R quad with a clutch lever

As fun as that sounds to set up I'm going to pass.

I want to compete as close to the rules as possible with nothing major to get caught with.

We finally have a dedicated pit tech to do tech inspections on the cars racing so I would like to stay fairly clean which will allow me to point fingers and bitch. :D

I will be modding my car but nothing crazy.

Just remember when "pitching a bitch" it makes the others look harder at you. No one likes a wineass!

True.

There is only going to be complaining if there is a legitimate beef with another member's car, banging into each other out on the track is unavoidable and unlike my street car neighbors isn't worth ripping another guy a new one because he spun out and YOU hit him or you got a little too close and popped a tire. :naughty:

Rubbin's racin' But taking someone out to gain a position always pissed me off!

Very busy day today but very productive!

Got everything top side stripped, just needs to be cleaned and all the god forsaken butyl rubber removed.

Oh and for the curious, the steering column was broken as was the gas pedal and cable so they got tossed out too.

I also got my bumpers stripped and my door skins prepped and ready for reinstall along with the inner fender liners. I'm not using the '82 header panel as this is supposed to be an '80, same as the shop's car (So I can utilize the E58 option.) so I'm going to use the '80 header off my parts car.

Yet another car to never see the road again. I also found someone's long lost rolling papers laying on top of the header panel, probably dropped by a factory worker.

2-door Aspolares were all 108" wheelbase. The '80-'81 M-body coupes shared that chassis... prior to that, they used the longer wheelbase of the sedans. You'd be surprised at the interchangeability of the F/M/J lineup.

Well I picked away at it a little more today. Pulled all the fuel lines, fuel tank, exhaust hangers, transmission and crossmember and put a matching set of tires on it that ALL hold air. :D

Found one minor spot in the frame that needs a cap, as Jass had commented the right side frame arch needs a small patch. Not a big deal.

This is the other spot that needs a patch.

Other then that this car is more solid then I had hoped for! It's only going to need some small sheet metal patches for the left fender dog leg and the lower rear 1/4 wells. Pictures don't do it justice.

Even the right frame rail that fills with dirt around the fuel line is nice and solid after I removed the fuel line and it's tin shield.

There isn't actually any rust near that bushing frame cap it's just dirt and surface rust.

I don't know what it is about that right rear rail, but they all seem to rust in exactly that spot, including my friend's GA '80 Aspen. The RH door jamb always seems to be a problem too. Overall, that's a pretty clean car... almost a shame to turn it into a circle burner. Almost, but not quite. I've seen better cars turned into 'em, including one BS23J0B.

Our car at the shop had no rust anywhere on the frame.

What could a guy use as a cap? I have some 14ga sheet steel left over from my counter top. :hmmm:

Seriously? An AAR code 'Cuda? I guess they were worth SFA at one time weren't they.

Yep, it was a real AAR. I was in high school with the guy's kid. They weren't allowed to run the 'glass hood though, so that got tossed into the woods. Long story, but a friend of mine found the hood years later. He thought it was a Mustang hood, cut the scoop out of it, and sold it to a local kid for $15. The kid riveted it to the hood of an '80 AMC Spirit, known around here as "The Spirit of Poor Bodywork" since it was a rusty piece of crap even in the late '80s.

This is the stuff of legend between Stretch, Kev (the cutter), and myself. We tease each other about shit like this every chance we get. I had the upper hand until I didn't check the fuse.

Got the pressure washer out last night and got her all sparkly clean!
