Some neat old literature

I got to see one of those turbine up close & personal back in 64 at a car show. Those things looked more t-bird than you could imagine, inside & out.

I think there's at least 2 - 3 that still survive. I know that Jay Leno has one. :hmmm:

I think the Walter P Chrysler museum had one in their collection as well. Not sure where it would have gone when they closed the place.

It is something I would like to see in person as well.

yeah....dart aint compact..even compared to the 67-69 fish..hell..compared to the EARLY a bodys its HUGE

Compared to the average family car of the time, things like Darts, Valiants, Chevy II's and Falcons were very much compact cars. Tinier imports were called "sub-compact." Hard to call the Demon a compact car given how much room it takes up in the garage even compared to our Jeep Patriot, but that's exactly what it was in 1972...

yeah i know..compared to the rest of what we were pumping out at the time..it indeed was small..i just get a bigger laugh out of it cause of the stuff made BEFORE 67 that was actualy smaller

Everything was getting bigger and fatter at that time - kinda like now... I literally had to climb up into a friend's Ram 1500 the other day.

very true..its sad even the "small" pickups are long gone..and they were cheep, usefull as all hell...maybe thats why they are gone

They're gone because they were cheaply built tin cans. Nothing built in the last 30 - 40 years has been intended to last more than a few years. What is the factory life expectancy of a car built today???.....about 7 years max. :(

Agreed.

But I think what 69.5 was getting at is that we can no longer buy a small or midsize truck new....
.....All the manufacturers are building these days are gigantic monstrosities....

Trucks and suv's are huge now. I don't know how people drive them in the big cities, my old astro van was as big as I'd ever want. Even the "small truck" Toyota Tacoma feels as big as a full sized truck. The Tundra is a behemoth. There's an Infiniti SUV that is simply ridiculous in its size, the QX80. I drive them at work and wonder who the heck buys these, besides drug dealers?
