Not A Duster's Most Excellent Progress

Yup - particularily in the '67 to 72 model years, the sway bar requires control arms with the "tabs" for mounting the sway bar, plus the K-frame has mounting points for the bushings. Some folks weld this stuff on for themselves, but I'm not comfortable attempting that, particularly when it comes to steering/suspension.

I would guess most A bodies came without the sway-bar setup.

Thanks DW, I appreciate it...I sent you a PM.

67 through 72 swaybar setups differ from the 73 through 76 version. The later style is a little more compact and supposedly better. The brakes and motor-mounts on the later version are definately superior..

Tonite we pulled the rubber floormats out. I held my breath waiting to see the floorpans. They turned out to be not too bad - a little peeled paint & discoloured steel on the front driver's side. The front passenger side is a little worse with some bubbled surface rust and one small hole. I'm just going to patch that with POR putty I think. The back is as clean as the day the car left the factory.

*whew*

Dude, buddy, remove victim bag BEFORE taking pics in the future K?:dgt:

Relax Gio - it's not the whole body...nothing in there that can be identified. :D

We spent the evening on the back - side of the car, pulling the rear bumper, tail-lites & wiring.

Yup - for sure Mr. 73.We are collecting an impressive pile of parts. I'm hoping being as anal labelling as we've been helps.

True....don't be like me and try to rely on a photographic memory! :D

Exciting. I remember my Duster looking just like that. :D

Can't wait to see the finished product!

Yup, it's nekkid.

Nice tear down, took me a year & when I was done I only had swiss cheeze! That was a joy to watch, can't wait for the return in fresh paint & the rebuild! Rich.

So - with the car gone to the bodyshop for the next couple weeks, we proceed to hack a hole in the hood.....

The hood will follow the rest of the car to the bodyshop tommorow.

awesome!

Just drop it off in my driveway and leave the keys in the mailbox when you're done with it :shifty: :D

Incredibly clean :)

Today.

A little bondo in the door where the car had been in an accident. Not too bad tho.

Zero Rust.

They had just pushed the car outside to shuffle stuff around. It's a busy shop but fairly small. Currently there's my car, a 60 - something Olds 98 convertible, a 70 mustang plus 2 newer cars being worked on there.

Yup - I think I will hang on to her for a while.

I forgot - there's a mid-70's Nova hotrod being done there as well - you can just sort of see it in the 3rd pic.. Seems to be a pretty popular shop.

Yeah - didn't think of that & ran out of time ... they are going to cover the wheels for me when they are spraying it.

My bad.

Did you get things worked out with your boy, Rob? Is he on his way home?
