Jester got a umm... erm... Crossfire

In through the Out Door, so She's
An '05 Chrysler Crossfire was traded into a dealership which my dad used to work at, so I went and had a look at it. it had 416 original miles on the clock, and was imported from the US, by a guy up here who just kept it in his garage for a few years (bought it new off the lot in Texas).

During a test drive, I was thinking "this doesn't feel like any new chrysler I've ever driven... it feels solid, smooth and more refined". Popped the hood and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, until I spotted a Mercedes symbol on the Master Cylinder, then saw more symbols on other parts. Oh yeah, these are basically Mercedes SLK's in a chrysler body (designed in England, built in Germany)... funky.

So I bought the odd little car at a little over cost, (Thanks Dad!) and am having a blast with the 6 speed and 3.2 mercedes motor :)

pics soon

I like the Crossfire. It's about as Mopar as a Conquest, but I like those too... actually, it's more Mopar because it was at least styled by the Highland Park crew rather than just a straight rebadge.

I like them aswell. A friend of mine has one. I hope to have the opportunity to drive it soon.

the only part i think i dont like is the hood "grooves"..being a fan of the 50's those belong on the roof not the hood..it looks like someone took the roof off my 58 ford and re-curved it for a hood.....that aside i dig em

Plenty of people think they're hideous and crap... but lots of cars are like that :)

I thought the black ones looked really nice, but it's tough to hide scratches on black paint...

I was bombing along at about 65 mph and heard a funny noise, looked behind me and the wing goes up automatically. :xl: it goes down around 40mph .

There's a switch for it too... I'll call it the Jesterboner switch, and flash the pretty Ladies with it :liar:

LOL i knew about the baby ducktail unit..but i had no idea you could "force" it up ..just that it came up at hwy speeds....this is true about black and being hard to hide scratches...i wonder what one would look like in blue or red

I've seen exactly ONE in red and.....:dgt:

Not a bad lookin car though. I like em. Just not in red! :D

lol, they look strange in Red.... dunno why

I was actually looking for a Porsche Boxster for around the same price, but couldn't pass up a 400 mile car for one with 80,000. Ah well, it's still made in Germany :shifty:

Be thankful you didn't get a Porsche Boxster! From what I have heard from a mechanics point of view, they are an absolute bitch to work on! Plus the Boxster is a chicks Porsche! :D or a gay guys Porsche....whichever. lol If you dig men, by all means buy a Boxster! :D

Brother in law has a black Crossfire. Sits in his garage, I'd bet it has less than 400 miles on it. Why he bought it ; he's a Harley guy has 3 of those.
His daily driver is a Miata.

*decides to keep comments about Porsche's lines to himself* :shifty:

I like the Crossfire. I see a whole lot of early Jag E type influence in the design, and that's not a bad thing.

There are a couple Crossfires in Sarnia, black, dark red metallic... Never seen a bright red one.

a "newer" boxter is just a re-bodied new bug..so yeah good call on the pass

i too see the early jag in it..its actualy why i like them..just wish they would have used a lil more early jag....in the hood area

400 miles? Christ, I would have been hard pressed to pass that up too. Hey, what's with the cat in your signature? Is it whacked out on drugs or did it just come from the eye doctor?

Not even close. The engine in a Boxster's a long way from the engine location of a New Beetle, and they share little if any components. The original Beetle and the pre-996-series 911 shared far more with Volkswagens than anything Porsche has produced since.

handling wise and built quality is more what i was talking about......youd be better off with a new turbo bug than a new boxter
