Back when I was living in Michigan and my relationship of 10 years was on the rocks, I had called 69 and told him I was thinking about moving back home. I wasn't dead set on that idea but, the thought was in my head. A few days later, he emails me pics of this 1979 Dodge Ramcharger with "Macho Package", and uses it as bait to get me back home. "You come back and it's yours!" Damnit! Using my dream truck as bait...... jerk!
Well, it worked! This truck wasn't the main reason I moved back but, I won't get into that.
Originally, this was a 360 4bbl "Macho Package" (which means squat to me) rig. The previous owner swapped in a 318 4bbl and a 2wd steering box. That box would later come to bite me in the ass......actually, it bit 69 in the head! :bwuhaha: Funny story actually (at least I think so). We were up at the shop and had a battery that needed to be charged so, we threw it in my RC and started the engine. There was really nothing else that needed to be done at the time and, my truck just idling and sitting there was too much to bear! Screw it! I'm going for a drive around the property and enjoying my truck a little. So, I'm making laps around the trails and next thing I know, I see 69 in my rear view on his quad stalking me. I sped up just a bit to have some fun. I forgot to mention at this point that the steering box had a dead spot between 2 & 4 O'clock on the wheel. I tried to make a slight right hand turn and let off the gas. I hit the dead spot in the wheel and the truck hit a tree. My initial reaction (spoken aloud to myself) was, "Why am I not mov------OH!" I didn't even feel 69 hit my tailgate when I hit the tree! I'm sure he did though!
So, we use the minivan to tow my busted up rig back to the shop and there it sat for about 2 years or so.
Enter my coworker Jake. 69 and I helped Jake (he's on here as '70 Powerwagon' or something like that but, never posts) move a BUNCH of rigs from his dads place (not too far from Wildcats actually) and, one of the rigs was a '74 D300 1 ton dually with a flatbed. Naturally I was eyeballing this rig as parts for my Ramcharger! Well, I would up with that '74, and we gutted that pig like we were at a luau! The cab was shot but, the doors and front clip were good enough that we would eventually put them on my RC and call it good for now.
The only real damage done to my truck was the radiator and front bumper. Everything else was getting swapped out anyways, so I wasn't really all that pissed when I wrecked it. The '74 supplied all I needed except the radiator. I already had the '77/'78 grille from a previous run to a local yard. Enough story time. Now for the pics.
These are the pics of the '79 that 69 bribed me with.
Pretty good lookin' rig! I HATE the '79 grille though! Remonds me of a K5 Blazer.

This dash actually got swapped out for an earlier, much nicer looking dash. I don't have pics of the dash swap though.

Maybe it's just me but, buckets DO NOT belong in trucks! I'll be putting in a bench seat out of a newer model Ram. (See Cow's thread for how I'm doing my swap. I've studied his thread for that, among many other reasons. Thanks Cow! :2thumbs: )

"COME HOME!!!"

Thinking the plate frame will stay.

The rear bench.
