Well. I had the '08 500 for almost 3 weeks, and with lots of road testing, I can say, that these cars are well worth the money. I had a good chance to lean on it all day yesterday, and it just left me grinning. And there's no need to slow down for curves. More the opposite. I wanted to hit the curves hard to enjoy the gee's.
It does everything my '69 Bee did (except this car will stop). Mash the gas at 90MPH, and it'll pin you back in those comfy seats, and dosen't let up till you do. Out of the hole, is the same, assuming the ESP is dissengaged.... But it still holds back. Chrysler de-tunned these rockets just like the hemi of yor, with their cpu program, which definintely holds the power back. The Preditor package should take care of that.
The thing is whisper-quiet running down the hi-way..... untill you mash it, then the tunned exhaust lets loose. Cross country treks would be a cinch.
It's been a long time since I so enjoyed driving a car. Mopar really hit the nail with this one.
If you have to be noticed, these things garner the looks. Even the high end car owners stare.
Now where are those pesky off-brands.............

Rides are free. And I'm not against letting (some) people try it out...........
As for pics........... photobucket is down. Pretty ordinary stuff. We've all been flooded with Challenger pics anyway............

Did you get the Tremec 6 spd, or automatic? I'm looking to get a bare bones R/T, but don't know which would be better. Leaning towards a 6spd, but really would have to go for test drives. Dealerships around here don't seem to have any in stock, so test driving is difficult lol.

Unfortunately, you cannot get a decent axle ratio or limited slip with the automatic. You get both with the 6 speed. That alone would make me hold out for a manual.

I got the auto. Can't shift and sip on .......... whatever, if I'm shifting.
I'd hold out for the SRT. I know. It's more money, but you get a lot more with it. Interior trim is maxed. You'll really enjoy the seats. Wrap right around you and the nifty banding. And you get the Viper braking system. The 6.1L comes with a different, and re-enforced block and the crank is forged for strength. Gotta love that, for standing up to future mods. Decent gear ratio? I'm in this for the flat out speed. If I want quarter mile thrills, I'll go with the Dart. :)

Oh, I was directing that at Jester. He said he's considering which transmission to get.

I wasn't getting at you. No prob.
On the other hand, I think you'd consider the gears in the auto. I just pegged an easy 13.65 et with this puppy (onboard computor) without really wringing it out. And on a quick jaunt to my buddy's place, on the way, I snapped off a quick 135MPH and did not stay in it long to see who run out of nerve first. I'd call that the best of both worlds.

Nice! I'll hold off for a 6spd, and don't really care if it's an R/T or SRT. 40 grand compared to 55 grand in Canada...

heck, even the base V6 model is pretty cool, but I gotta get an 8. The slant six dart is getting a warmed over engine, but it will still have less power than a cammed 318 :D
