Not A Duster's Most Excellent Progress

Rob - I'm thinkin' the car won't see the sun 'til spring...but we will see...

Here's half a day's work today:

Pic #1: It's a shame when you gotta use rubbing compound on new paint, but the bodyshop didn't mask the underhood paint real well before spraying the outside finish coat and I ended up with sanding dust trapped under overspray...it cleaned up OK but took a couple hours to fix.

Pic #2: Step one in putting the grille & front back on the car was installing the headlight buckets. Of course one of the plastic inserts that the screws go into broke. Anyone got one?

Pic #3: Put the bumper on & aligned it's brackets before mounting the grille. It has to come off again before the grille goes on, but at least it's lined up properly.

Pic#4: the grille goes in pretty slick. The '72 park light sockets don't fit the '71 grille .... anyone got a couple of those???

Wouldn't it be both easier and cheaper to make the sockets work with the grille? Or just splice some '71 sockets onto the wiring? I KNOW you got enough wiring that you could donate to the cause if you didn't want to hack up the original to the car. :D

Nope I would have to butcher the grille.

That's looking fantastic, Nodda!

Maybe borrow a lighting rig or two from your next gig and light up the garage - make your own sun. :D

It is looking sweet. I may be out your way again in December. I would love to see it in person if I could get some time to visit again.

That'd be great. It's been a while since I got to watch someone swell up due to an allergic reaction to a type of beer...:D

Seriously, I look forward to it - lemme know if/when.
