New Race Season - Opening Day

Luskville Quebec. another 2 days of racing for TEAM 440. saturday saw 4 rain delays, so it was hard on everyone to get into a rithum. great air & all cars were running as fast as they ever were. Our 1st race ryan cut a .512 bulb & was on the brakes at the big end running a 7.69 on a 7.65 dial. BUT grrrrrr! a control tower error (didn't switch computor to race, still on time trial) we had to re-run the race. this time ryan bulbed (red lit):naughty: & we bought back in. we won our next few rounds & got down to the final 5 cars. is a .496 a good light:naughty:. nope, red is red & our day was over. the good news for the day another good friend running a 64 dodge won his 1st ever event.:giggedy:

Sundays racing was tipical for whats been happening this year to us. after a coulpe of wins a break out by .02 saw our action end early in the 3rd round:doh:. the sky opened up again & with another rain delay & CUDA was already loaded we headed home.

next race weekend July 21, 22

Hey Greg glad to hear you guys are having fun and enjoying the racing. My son Ron Jr went to the Mopar race at Mason Dixon dragway in June and he ended up winning Street eliminator ! :giggedy: Boy was he happy. I was in Great Lakes for my youngest sons graduation fron the Navy bootcamp that weekend but Ron Jr called me and told me he was in the final. So it was a good weekend for me as I got to see my 18 year old graduate from the Navy bootcamp and my 21 year old son win Street Eliminator at a Mopar race. I would have taken my 63 but my other sons gratuation was way more important. I put a 6 point rollbar in my 63 to help stiffen it up some and plan to hit the track again real soon. Good luck to you and Ryan with the racing and that boy of yours sure can drive ! Ron

TEAM 440 BACK IN THE WINNING CIRCLE. :giggedy:

a great saturday. Ryan & i arrived ealirer to the track. Fridays heavy rain fall causes problems in the pitts. not too many dry areas. so we set up camp at the 1/8th mile marker & gave CUDA a fresh set of spark plugs.

the days event featured "the fastest steet car challenge" OMG i couldn't beleive seeing street legal cars with slicks running 5.78 to 6.14 in the unlimited class. the street tire class were still quick running 6.30's.

anyways back to the real story. it was one of those days that right from the get go we knew we were in for a good day. ryan was bulbing low .5's in time trials & CUDA was BANG on its #'s. The racing started & after a first round wins we we up against our freind ron with a 74 cuda. ryan cut a .550 bulb & ran a 7.693 on a 7.690 dial. that should of been good to win any race, but the 74 cuda cut a .503 & ran a 6.56 on a 6.55 dial. the margin of loss was .003 seconds. CRAP. oh well. still knowing we running hard on our numbers i bought back in & ryan continued on his winning ways. in the finals CUDA was up against a 69 chevelle ss who dialed a 7.14. Ryan treed him with a 5.26 bulb to his 6.10 which made for an easy win with his brakes on through the traps:giggedy: :toot: there was alot of :bravo: saturday night.

Sunday was a different story. our first time trial was just where we left off the day before. but somehow our right rear tire got a flat & couldn't hold air for more that a few minute. our day was over. pack up & head home to the pool. (that was kind of nice)

Next race long weekend in august.

TEAM 440 does it again.:giggedy:
WALLY #2

What great start to a 2 day race weekend. The Bracket Bonanza is Canada's richest & oldest event with over $60,000 in payouts. a huge car turn out in both super pro & semi pro.

Ryan & i both felt we were in the zone after our last victory 2 weeks ago. CUDA was bang on its #'s all day & ryan was amazing on the tree, cutting low .501, 515, 522, 526, 528, 535, ...........to his worst .605. and with our near perfect dials we were in the finals againt the winner of this years IHRA Mopar Nationals in Grand Bent. Ryan cut a .535 to Fred's 5.60 and bolted CUDA to a 7.65 on a 7.65 dial & the WIN!!!!! That'll put the cash in your pocket ALMOST every time. $2,000 bucks & our 2nd wally.:bravo:

Day 2 didn't go as well. remember i just said a good run will put cash in you pocket ALMOST every time. in round 3 Ryan was up againt last years runner up ( we beat him for the win & 5,000 last year) Ryan cut a .556 to John's .546. Ryan laid CUDA down on 7.705 on a 7.70 dial & John's 6.147 on a 6.14 dial. CRAP. two perfect runs but John inched us out & our day was over early. too bad, but i never feel bad getting beat by someone who just ran a better race. i'd take those #'s anytime in any race.

next race long weekend in september.

TEAM 440 in the finals again.:helpme:

What a long day of racing. 3 time trials & 10 runs to the finals. that was great & lots of wins to get there. this late in the race season we know who the big hitters are & this years there seen to be way to many to be really comfortable with any race. the cars seem to run there #'s almost every race. Good thing CUDA can too. That was the case again this weekend when ryan ran CUDA to our dial in several times only lifting when a sure win was in hand. Our 10th race of the day was against an old veteran with a 70 duster. Ryan bulb with a .491 (it happens but rare) & we lost even though he ran a 7.68 on a 7.68 dial. the duster ran a 6.83 on a 6.78. too bad. another 1,000 buck would have been nice. but still 300 ain't too bad.

racing next saturday & sunday

2 days of racing & only a little bit of bragging.:giggedy:
saturday- that dam .498 red light bit us agian in the 3rd round & ended our day after winnig 2 rounds & picking up 700 points. Ryan said "can anyone tell me what 2/000's of a second is". really, we can't even imagin how little of time that is. so i only gave hime shit for about 1 hour. a few beers later & it was all forgot.

i really hate, ( really really really hate) beating ourselves.:doh:ryan knows that & does take it pretty hard too when big money is on the line. 2,000 dollar races are far between in foot brake bracket racing.

sunday_ somewhat of a differet story. had to buy back in after a 2nd round loss after a f***'n lucky win by a shit firebird dialing a 10.53 1/8th OMG cut a .519 bulb & ran a 10.55. ryan waited so long at the tree he read a book then cut a .552 (not bad) he thought he caught him at the big end & dumped running a 7.71 on a 7.68 dial. GRRRRR out of the point (picked up 500). bought back in & went to the final 7 cars. pretty tight racing now. ryan cut .526 to the chevelle's .532 only to break out with a .768 on the brakes to a .770 dial & a loss. i don't know why the car picked up like that after running 2 7.70's back to back without weather changes. shit happens.

the good news is picking up 1200 point this weekend should put us in 1st place on the "show in the money" tour.:bravo: i'm not sure of the standing yet since thay havn't posted the results. i'll let you know.

i really hate, ( really really really hate) beating ourselves.

I know the feeling! And you just go over and over the race in your mind afterwards, LOL!

Anyway, congrats on the points! Hope you continue to have a good season.

Are ya racing next week at all?

I'll be up there again for training. Sunday night to Friday afternoon.
I've pinged firefighter already. Maybe we can have a beer again.

sorry i missed your post. i was away vacationing in PEI all last week only to get to head to Shannonville for a weekend of racing. i'll post results below

End of season race weekend for TEAM 440:(.

I just got back after a 13.5 hr drive from PEI only to get 1 sleep in my own bed and to head out early saturday morning to meet ryan at Shannonville Motorsport Complex in Belleville Ontario. He got there the night before to get things set up & party a little with the other racers.:bravo:

By the time i got there Ryan had alreay had 1 time trial & CUDA was running just like it always does. a 2nd time trial only 1/00's off it's 1st run showed us we were going to be hard to beat. After confiring TEAM 440's season points standings in the "SHOW ME THE MONEY" tour, we found ourselves in 2nd place only 1 round out of 1st place. not bad.

3rd time trial Ryans driving towards the lanes, i'm driving the golf cart beside him thinking that a funny rattling sound. i park the cart & a friend of mine who drives super pro says " hey Greg i think i heard something loose" so now i'm concerned. lift the hood & every looks good. Lay down under car & oil is dripping off my right front brake flex line. OH CRAP something elese too, cause that don't rattle. (thinking thats a quick fix but WTF else) so ryan take CUDA back to the pitts & up on the ramp she goes. OH BIGGER CRAP.:doh:broken flex plate AGAIN and engine oil on the bell housing spraying around. brake line ok. Thats something i'm not prepared to repair at the track. CUDA's race season is over. NOW WAIT! Ryan quick unhook the truck from the trailer. i'll take all the shit out of it. TEAM 440 still lives to race another day. If we hurry we should be able to get a time trial in & still qualify to race. we got back to the staging lanes with 4 cars still to run. :toot:

well the 05 dodge 1500 hemi sport halled its heavy ass down the 1/8th mile at a not too bad 10.15. ha ha ready to go. Ryan & i new we were somewhat of a duck out there & would really have to rely on his skills if we had any chance at all. i decided he'd have to win at the big end cause to cut a good light would be real though concidering no practice time. so we dialed up to a 10.32 knowing rayn would have to dump & be hard on the brakes. 1st race dosen't he cut a .552 bulb & runs a 10.34 on the 10.32 dial. great run concidering all thats happened but the guy we ran cut a .506 & ran a 8.12 on an 8.12. stick a fork in TEAM 440 cause were done. no sense in buying back in, were out of the points today.

Day 2 & 3 time trials hmmm a little practice. On the 3rd time trial all the drivers put 5 bucks into the pot & best reaction time takes all 180.00. doesn't ryan cut .500 perfect light with the truck. ROFLMAO can't do it in a race car. we thought we had it won when another driver cuts another perfect .500 bulb. to the slips we go to check the 4th didget. OMG both cars cut .5009 exact imes to the 10 thousands of a second. who'd beleive it.
away 1st round ryan felt like maybe something just may work out today.:helpme: NOT. he cuts a .499 red & out 1st round. SEASON OVER.

we hung around for a few hours, watched a few round but headed home early cause the heart wasn't into it. now to pull CUDA apart & fix a few things right over the winter. i haven't seen the final point standing but i think we ended up 4th or 5th.

Thank to all the arm chair racers reading this year, it was a blast rehashing my weekend adventures with you guys & gals.

cheers:bravo:
