Need Some Advice on Value

MyBigBlockDodge

Screw it. Give me the red AND blue pills.
Thinking of selling the Spirt we have, and I'd like some feedback on it's value. It's a '90 ES with 109,000 on it. Two owner (my mom purchased it new in '90). 3.0 engine. Heads have been rebuilt with locks on the valve guides (burns no oil and passes emissions here in Phoenix), trans has been rebuilt, new brakes, new AC compressor, new water pump. Everything works - the only exceptions being the fog lights (one is cracked due to a rock, and the other is just a bulb out). PW, PS, Power drivers seat. Overall, the car is in excellent shape inside and out. Very good condition Pirelli P4 tires. We averaged 25mpg on the last road trip which was about 1,600 miles round trip.

Thanks in advance for any guidance on this.

Wow that is one clean little car! Wish my daughters were a couple years older, and starting to drive.....I'd be interested in that beauty!

No idea on value....will do some craigslist searching and see what I can find.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think you're about right on the value. It's certainly not a collectible car, but to the right person it could bring in a fair price.

A vehicle is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You should be able to sell that one fairly easily. Set the price you want and advertise it a little higher and see what happens.

Agreed... just thought it would be helpful to get some feedback from other Mopar guys. The value is going to be different if I sell it through a Mopar club for instance, as opposed to listing it on Craigslist.

Personally, I like it. Brings back memories of a friend's car back when they were still new. Were I in the market for a small sedan to use as a daily, this is something that would interest me... but to most people it's just going to be an old econobox. If there are Acclaim/Spirit/A-body LeBaron forums, find them and advertise it there, but don't be surprised if it becomes a donor for a Turbo III swap. If you're concerned at all about what's going to become of it, maybe selling it isn't a good idea.

I don't want to be negative, but advertised at or above $2,750 you'll likely have it for sale for a long time. Of course, there will always be someone mental for any type of car; it's just going to be a waiting game for them to surface. In the case of my own Mom's car, we sold what was essentially a brand-new car (2014 Malibu w/2,900 miles) for $8,000 under book just to get rid of it. None of us wanted it, and we didn't want to deal with tire-kickers trying to eke out anywhere near book.

If you're going to advertise it online, expect a call (or several) from a place called Once Driven. They claim they have people looking for cars like that, and that your price is very good (even if you list it at $20,000). They'll charge you $200, and while the car sits not selling they'll eventually tell you to lower your price (which you already did, since you took $200 off the top to pay them). The "people" they have looking amounts to whomever happens to view your car on their Facebook wall. That's it. They just copy/paste the ad there. Getting your money back per their guarantee will probably involve getting your credit-card company involved. They called me six times when I had the Valiant for sale trying to get me to send them $200. I did my research on them. They have a terrible BBB score and tons of complaints. Don't waste your time talking with them.

Hey Jass - thanks for the feedback on this. I agree with you on the price point - it's going to be a try it and see what sort of response I get. Thanks also for the heads-up on Once Driven. I suspect this may end up being a word of mouth sale through the local Mopar club I was involved with. Lots of good people in the club, and many who I consider friends. Have to see where we go with this. I'm not "sold" on selling it quite yet. Still has some sentimental value for me and my brothers.

I personally have had shockingly bad luck trying to sell stuff (cars and parts) using forums for those cars. It won't hurt to try, maybe my luck was just that-my luck. I won't clutter up this thread with it, but if you want a little more detail on my experience, search for "improving the life of the Chinese people", both here and on google. You'll find my rant on the subject. Edit: Hell, I can't find it now. Nevermind.

So I ended up selling the Spirit last week - was hard to see it go. Actually made me pretty sad watching it drive away, but it was time. Ended up just shy of $3k. Thanks again for the advice and feedback on this guys.
