MOPARFest 2015

Yeah, well, you don't even like Italian food. :D

The bigger point is that we largely agree here. They have no place, and as I mentioned the last thing I want to do at a "Mopar" swap meet is walk up to a table full of Jeep, Studebaker and Javelin parts. Luckily, the Jeepers have their own shows/community/swap meets. As far was what's in the show, I really don't care. I don't go to car shows unless there's a swap meet, because I rarely have any desire to look at the show cars anymore. Maybe I'm just jaded, or maybe it's because I did it for a living.

That intake is like an illustration of how not to build one.

Work for one of 'em long enough, it kinda has that effect on you.....:(

I still like going to shows if I'm taking the Demon. It's a good opportunity to spend an afternoon socializing with like minded people....

To be honest, Mopar specific shows don't really happen around here anymore, and even if they did they hold less appeal to me than "open" shows do. The Mopar scene has gotten to be too much like the corvette guys comparing numbers and paint daubs. I like seeing wildly incorrect (but still tasteful) street machines built in people's garages.

Hey everybody. Hope you all (mostly) enjoyed Moparfest 2015. Saturday was stinkin' hot, Sunday, although hotter, was better due to the nice breeze we had most of the day. I did pretty well, just had maybe a couple of misty moments, but it actually felt great to be back there, and I was with all my Mopar friends. You may remember me questioning towing my '68 Valiant on my car dolly behind my motorhome. Well, I did it and it was just fine, perfect actually. We had no issues. My very good friend Tom Lynch came on Wednesday morning and hooked up the dolly then we loaded the car and he tied it down. I then followed him back to his place in Fisherville, and once he and Jean were ready, we left from their place. Tom drove his '68 RR, I followed him, and Jean followed me driving their Ram and 5th wheel trailer. Anyway, we all enjoyed the show and I am VERY glad I went. Thanks again to those who responded to my questions regarding towing.

Don't know why this pic is so small, but from right, Tom and Jean Lynch's '68 RR, my '68 Valiant, Ken and Phyllis Fletcher's '73 Challenger, and Allan and Ann McBride's '66 Valiant.

Glad you were able to get down there with the car. It sounds like you had a good time, and people got to see your Valiant (including us, even if only in pictures).

I've always liked the "shoe-box" 2nd gen Valiants. I also like the 60 - 62's because they're so ugly. :D

Ain't that the truth! That is one of the reasons why I stopped attending the Mopar club here locally many years ago. That and the friggin politics!

Heh.

When I lived in Atlanta, I used to go to the North Georgia Mopar Club's monthly "show"/swap meet, usually not a huge affair but worth checking out what was for sale. They'd have 35-75 cars, depending on weather. First time there, someone made a disparaging comment about my car, so on the next visit I parked it in with the rest of the cars with the hood open and a meager mid-13 time slip marked "NO THIRD GEAR" taped to the core support. No one said anything after that; either they dug the Six Pack engine or sleeper effect, or were afraid I'd want to race them. Later I was asked why I didn't join the club, I asked in return: Why should I join, pay dues, waste time at meetings, and have an obligation of some sort when I could just show up at for the events for free?

Every group like that is going to have their assholes. I've never been a member of a car club because even the all-marque clubs have 'em... Plus, I refuse to join any club with the word "cruise" or any conjugation thereof in its name. :D
