Dodgedifferent2 goes hotroddin

Side project. Took a harbour freight bead roller and made it decorative, beefed it up and added a motor.
Waiting for a drum switch that's stuck with the striking canada postal workers.

Started doing some body work today. Had to replace the wheel wells. It's just the beginning of the craziness. ATTACH=CONFIG]20548[/ATTACH]

so hows the motor work as far as speed/torque goes? ive been considering doing something like that myself having the exact same roller as well as some custom milled dies

its nice to be able to have half a body on the bench to work on aint it....my lloyd started life being able to do that lol

Well, I'll be... you went for the nailie. That excites me. You want me to keep an eye open for one of the GM bellhousings with the half-833 bolt pattern? I see 'em at nearly every show.

Nice work thus far, DD2. I'm very impressed with the skill you've shown us already.

Wait.. you can bolt a nailhead to a mopar 4 speed? I turned one down because I would be stuck with Buick’s two speed slush box, or the expensive switch pitch

So here is where I am at now.
I pushed the dakota on the backburner till its cooler outside to do some sandblasting. Aka winter

Have the body on the chassis and lining things up to where I want them.

As for the nailhead to a833 it's a whole nother job.
I have to custom make a spacer between the bell and engine. I have an adapter between the bell and trans.
The fun part will be seeing who will get me a clutch to work with the nailhead flywheel and splines on trans. Likely end up being a custom piece from someone. Starter will also be some more fun.

Once I get the body on then the plan is to make some lake style headers that go under chassis. As I am hoping to do a custom fuel injection 6 stromberg carb style deal on the top side.

I seem to like day dreams that may turn into nightmares.

There are a few ways to do it. There are factory GM (Chevrolet) bellhousings from trucks that are half A833 bolt pattern, half Borg-Warner (Sagi-Not/Munchie). A GM main case could be used, or the bell could be machined for the remaing two holes.
Another way is conversion bells that were fairly common in the '60s & '70s. I see 'em at swap meets now & then. They'll have a BOP, Chevy, Ford, or AMC block pattern with an A833 trans pattern and pilot diameter (usually for the large bearing retainer).
There were also bellhousing and transmission adapters; I saw one to put an 833 directly on a GM bell on eBay last week, but I can't find it now. Current eBay item 113944936946 is a full bellhousing adapter that claims to mate a Mopar bellhousing to a GM pattern block, but the starter appears to be on the wrong side and it has an OE-style GM number, so I'd investigate further prior to pulling the trigger... but it's a reasonable facsimile of the type of adapter I've seen.

Cool project!

Hey DD, your tires are on backwards...💃🕺

Hahaha...I was just going to post that as well. 😄

But super cool project....I'd love to get something that old but my 6'8" and size 14 feet make darn near impossible to comfortably squeeze into one, I've tried in a few cars at car shows. ;)
