'90 Spirit Pics

MyBigBlockDodge

Screw it. Give me the red AND blue pills.
Been detailing up our "new" car. Just a bit left to do on the engine compartment. Not the greatest pics but I'll take some better ones when I get time. This thing is like looking at a time capsule.

Thanks Jass :) I'm happy to have it and mom's thrilled it is being taken care of. We're even considering putting it in the annual Mopar show - mainly just so we can sit and enjoy the day and not have to work the show lol.

Some peeps might enjoy seeing it though.

Wouldn't mind making the "chrome" trim around the beltline red like the R/T's had. Not sure if they were just painted or different trim pieces. Been looking at some pics of those and it really sets off the car IMO.

never liked the red trim..besides that car is a survivor...SHOW IT!!!...that car is truely show worth for what it is.....and btw id kill for those wheels

Leave it the way it came from the factory, it is a great looking car and I think the red stripe just would not look right on your carbut the decision is yours. You got a Great looking car the way it is and there would be few that wouldn't like to have it.

Thanks guys :) I like the red, but chances are it will stay the way it is. The reason I started thinking about that is you will notice on the drivers side front bumper area that the molding has turned a dull gray color. I might be able to find a replacement piece for it, but body parts for these are limited since they were not made long (89 - 95) and most of them ended up in junk yards due to rust or being driven like a rental.

69 - I like the wheels too, but they are a PITA to clean :D

The mouldings' part numbers were different because of the color of the moulding, believe it or not... Chrysler trim, or anything color-keyed, used a bastardized part numbers during that era that included a trim/color code for lack of a better term. The part number for a red bumper cover with the same chrome trim would be different than yours as well.

I prefer the chrome as well.

I almost bought a red '91 R/T when I was married. Tyrannosaurus Ex liked it (she enjoyed the manual trans), and while out on a test drive she asked me why I liked this particular family sedan. "Let me drive for a minute..." was my answer. I believe her response after I took the wheel was something to the effect of, "HolyJesusHChristYou'reGonnaKillUsSLOWTHEFUCKDOWN!!NOW!!" :D The torque-steer made it a handful, but it was nowhere near as quick as my prior-to-her Challenger and Trans Am. She'd have had a seizure in either of those cars, as she would've in the Black Bitch after the divorce when the 440 got installed.

lol the torque steer on the turbo's is INSANE!!!!!!!

there was/is? a deviation on those wheels and thats the semi polished edges which really makes them POP..im sure there a nightmare to clean lol

what really gets me is even the interior looks showroom

If you mean the edge on MY wheels that is just where the paint has chipped off from putting new tires on it. Wish I could say it was due to planning on my part :shifty: I will be touching those up when I finish the detailing. Sad part of that is, there are some small curb rash spots on the edges. Not serious ones, but still there.
You are right about the interior though... it's perfect. I can't find a mark on the panels or fabric anywhere. Will be replacing the "snow" mats with some nice carpeted ones - glad she used them though because the carpet is perfect.
Thanks for all the compliments guys! :bravo:

Wow it sure is cleanign up nice. And for sure show it. There are guys like myslef who will walk by the belly button cuda's and challengers to go look at a sweet 4dr Spirit. ;) :)

me too cow me too...if it aint unique or odd on the show field i just keep on walkinn

on the wheels THESE were the polished edge type....i can only imageing said wheels with the white in them would be STUNNING!!!!...i know the red ones were wicked tooo......and those snow flakes youve got are quite hard to find....atleast out here...i think the only mopar FWD wheel id want more would be the wagon wheel or the lance "laces" by ccs but ive never actualy seen a set of either in person

Thanks again guys :) I am doing some trade out with a paintless dent removal guy - he's going to take out the 4 or 5 small door dings in it. They are minor, but thought I might as well take care of them.

69 - I have seen the red versions of those wheels. They had polished faces and red in the recessed areas. I'm guessing the white on my wheels is just paint - VERY thick paint lol. Wonder if a guy could have them powder coated instead. Should hold up better to tire machines and the like.

I think I would just get a touch-up pen and fix what's there on the wheels. Yes, it's a '90 Spirit, but even so--it's only original once.

as much as the polished ones look badass doc's right shes only original once....im not sure id even do a touchup on the wheels unless they really look like crap and need it that bad

The curb rash spots are small and only on the outside edge of the wheel - none on the "snowflake" areas so I think the touchup would be minimal and not be to obvious. I am happy it's white because the touchup paint I got matches perfectly. I used it on a couple of small rock chips and there is no color difference at all. I'm guessing these wheels were actually painted and not powder coated correct? Not even sure if powder coating was around in '90.

Thanks for all the excellent advice guys - will do my best to keep this car in excellent condition :giggedy:
