'75 W300 repair/mod project - Ol' Blue

The cab is missing the driver side rear quarter window and the back glass. Windshield is in decent shape and the original factory passenger quarter window with the script on it is still there and intact. :bravo:

There's another JY a little further away that has a factory CC quarter glass, also with the script on it, just laying inside a cab in the yard. I need to find out if it's for the driver side or not. If so, I better start buying lottery tickets.:) They've got TONS of hard to find stuff at that place, but are pretty proud of their collection of parts and vehicles when you ask how much they want for anything. A single side window that's already pulled shouldn't be too bad though (I hope).

Yay. This rain is finally supposed to stop late tonight. I guess you guys know what that means is coming next though... [smilie=f::doh:https://weather.com/weather/alerts/localalerts/l/59711:4:US?phenomena=WS&significance=W&areaid=MTZ007&office=KMSO&etn=0011

Those prices are excellent.. Anybody near me who has anything pre-Ram thinks it's worth a damned fortune.

His JY is so small, most people don't realize there's one there. It's just one guy's hobby more than anything. No signs up either, so you either have to know it's there or hear about it by word of mouth.

BTW, in case that link to the winter storm warning I put in that last post disappears/expires, here's what it's referring to.

None taken. You pretty much have to have a sense of humor to put up with the weather here.[smilie=J: Some kind of a real garage I could work inside and out of the weather has been on my Christmas wish list for a few years now. I guess I haven't been good enough to make it onto the "Nice" list yet.[smilie=d:

I lived in Calgary for 12 years and saw snow on the grass all twelve months of the year. I also saw green grass 12 months of the year. In Calgary if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes, its bound to change. Had to love when the chinooks blew in when it was -30. Parkas to short sleeves in the same hour.

outside of snow..thats our weather..its mothernature on pms....

id say you need to do what i did and put up a "portable" shop..tho my 20x20 aint moved since built its 100% portable and thus code dont count against it tho its built like a tank 90% steel lol....however im not so sure your truck would fit in a 20x20 lol...god knows my ramp rig at 30 feet wouldnt..so im in your boat of waiting for good weather to work on it

I have one of those HF 10x17 tent garages but my wooden boat project, a Dillon 14/16' Laker tunnel boat, is currently occupying it. That'll have to get finished before I can work on anything else in there. It should make a good paint booth whenever I get to that point with the truck (ie: not anytime soon). I'll just have to do half of the truck (front/back) at a time.

lol yeah..course it will likely be very close quarters...what i did when i painted the gamer bus was to get some CHEEP pvc pipe and joints think i spent all of 30$ and then some heavy mil clear plastic and made an outdoor booth...it worked VERY well..the only issue was bugs

I took the mechanical fuel pump and crank pulley off the engine a little while ago. As soon as I pulled the rubber supply line off the fuel pump, I saw the reason that mechanical pump failed. The rubber line was filled with hay and wheat or oats, and when I looked at the inlet in the pump, it was also packed full of the same stuff. This truck was used for most of it's life as a farm truck in case you hadn't guessed.

When it all goes back together I plan on getting those saddle tanks back in good shape inside and out, and all the fuel lines between them and the carb are getting replaced. Once that's all working again, I'll be yanking out the in-cab fuel tank in order to regain about 4-6" of much needed leg room.

I also tried to pull the oil pump today, but that'll have to wait until I pull the engine out. There was a short bolt with a tag on it and a long bolt towards the front I was able to get out. I could get to two more of the long bolts, but they both hit the cross member before they could clear the hole in the pump. That short bolt I removed has a tag on it that says "41-74HV", of which I assume the HV part probably means it's a high volume oil pump. Maybe. ???

I cleaned up the crank pulley, pulley bolts and the two oil pump bolts next. The crank pulley and it's bolts got painted satin black, while the OP bolts and tag got painted blue

Money is usually the biggest holdup for me, with weather and health coming in tied for second. I make the most of the opportunities presented to me as I come across them to get as much done as I can on it. As long as I keep plugging away at it, it'll eventually get finished. Hopefully without requiring a title that reads 28 pages long like JC's Caddy.;)

I have the same 2 issues, but with me & money, I don't like to let go of it. :shifty: And the health issue is mostly because of my wild life of yore. If i get in 5-6 hours of activity, I'm done for the day. I've had a plastic hip for 29 years and one ankle has run out of cartilage about 12 years ago. Too many broken bones.

We've all read about the resto's that took 6-8 or 10 years. It took me 8 years to re-do my R/T convert. And now I know why.

I'm too tired to do a detailed write up right now, so I'll just say one thing. The engine is out. ...sort of. I got it completely free from the truck and hanging from the engine hoist, but it hasn't made it's way out of the engine bay yet.

I'll either pull the grill and rad support to get it out, or brace it in place and do what I need to do to it inside the engine compartment. I'm still sore from working all day on it yesterday, so progress might be a little slower today.
