Apologizing in advance

Wow Somebody really missed the boat on this one. Beautiful car and I’m glad the seller had a higher reserve than these low ball bids. Thay car should have had bids at least 10K higher
I'm not so sure. '68 is my favorite Chevelle of that generation ('66 wins overall) but what's offered is not a real SS, nor is it a particularly rare model. It's a built car, probably a 307 originally. It's also a high price for a car with no HVAC or radio, which I feel were corners the builder cut rather than deal with the "hassle". Having lived in the South, yes, you still need at least a heater/defogger, even in the summer based on my experience with Atlanta weather. Those two details really temper the overall impression that this is in fact a very good car. Well, that and the owner seemingly knowing nothing about the engine other than "it was built for racing" which could be said of a low-level Super Stock 318-2V.

There isn't much I'd change other than the heater/radio situation. I'm a 4-speed guy, but the horseshoe shifter rates high on the list of cool factory shifters. I'd lose the SS badging, dime-store air cleaner, M/T valve covers and the Rally wheels. Oh, and the front end needs to come down. It sits like a truck up there.

I'm not so sure.
I agree. I think it's a nice car. I'd really enjoy owning it. But I would be honest with myself that it will never be worth more than what was bid.

I think most of the BaT chodes don't have a pot to piss in, no less a window to throw it out of. They're just in it for the attention.

Perchance did you see the '65 Valiant that sold in the past week or so on that site? Clean CA car, 318 auto. Nothing spectacular but a very good driver. It sold for about $5K, which I thought a bit low but that's the curse of early A-bodies, I believe.

This might be one of them, but it was still a pretty good deal in my estimation:

That's a nice $3000 car there.

I guess it would be OK if you didn't need to ship it. You'd better love it though; you'll never see a penny more than what you paid for it. Consider the photos and text. It's not in all that good of shape.

I would hazard to say that a person who would pay $5k for it is going to pay shop rates to rebuild/replace the worn out parts not to mention the body work.

Seems to me the seller should thank their lucky stars.

It's all relative, I suppose. $5,000 doesn't buy much car these days, be it vintage or just decent used. I paid more than $5,100 for, well, most of a Dart. Anything left on it needs to be redone, and there's a lot missing.
