Well, shit

im still shocked ppl live in florida..let alone think anything is "safe" there.....

id love to see the footage of how it got tossed
it will likely end up auctioned on copart as "flood damaged"

The back story is that 2 wing cars were elevated on garage hoists, while 2 other cars below were evacuated. The water reached high enough to sweep them both off the hoists & through the garage doors.

Relatively easy fixes, in reality. Nice testament to the strength of the wing.

Let's be real here: There's no real loss here, other than to the clearly-wealthy owner's wallet and insurance company. It's not like the cars were destroyed (nor even totalled in the eyes of an insurer); in fact all things considered they look pretty good overall. Everyone involved is apparently safe, and it's my understanding that the cars are already moved and ready for the repair process to begin.

This whole panic is much ado about very little, if not nothing.

Well, apparently these photos are all over the internet and everyone's wetting their pants that a couple of cars got damaged. The guy's got four wing cars--seven digits' worth--so clearly the money's there to repair them even if they were uninsured. This is the well-heeled man's equivalent of a parking-lot fender bender.

In terms of, "how could he let this happen?" it's clear he tried--the other two cars remain unscathed. He either ran out of time or underestimated the storm surge, neither of which is particularly condemnable. It's not unusual for people to get complacent about their cars' safety anyhow: "They're eight feet off the floor, they'll be fine" has now become "They were eight feet off the floor--and it wasn't enough." Lesson learned.

To me, and possibly to you, it's just an "oof" but there are/were those out there apparently losing their minds over this. How worry-free are their lives that this minor event would affect them so strongly?

i honestly didnt think a wing on those was actualy that strong..thats getting close to roll bar strength!

Mental note if you are leaving a car on a lift in an area that might get hit with a high storm surge...toss on some chains or straps to secure it to the lift. ;)

top of my list..dont live in a place that mother nature can just walk off with your toys....
but yeah given that situation and evacuation the fact he didnt get the cars out boggles my brain...and not securing them when ...abandoning them to fend for themselves just....
i wonder if he secures his loads in his truck .......

Probably just an investment to the guy, and they're insured so no big deal. He should've monetized the photos somehow though because that photo was everywhere.
