just heard a friend of mine chris gould who drives a jet powered funny car was killed last week at moroso motorsports park in west palm beach florida. his chute failed to open at the big end and that could only spell trouble.

my son Ryan & I met chris a few years ago at our local track & we all became good friends. ryan & i crewed for him at a few events & enjoyed the evenings between racing with a good BBQ & drinks. my shop would service his truck/trailer when he'd be driving through Ottawa.

strange thing- i sent chris an email on friday to see how he was doing & heard about the accicent this morning. he'll be missed.

For sure that is sad. I did not know him that well, but he used to drag a bike down the 1320 at New England Dragway, (where I work) but went to drag jet cars because he thought he'd get hurt on the bike. Kinda Ironic. He was from Maine, the same as me.
