The drag bike

So I bought this Bandit 1200 brand new 22 years ago and it's undergone changes ever since. The usual stuff, better breathing through pod filters and carb jetting, ignition advance, shock and fork upgrades to name a few. Last year I decided to quit riding it on the street, my back road shenanigans were getting a little crazy so it was time to take it to a more controlled environment. The drag strip. Last fall I managed 7.09 @ 102 mph on the 1/8 mile. Not to shabby but I wanted more. This year I've installed an aftermarket header, gsxr clutch pack, shorter gearing and a 6" extended swingarm. Keeping the front end on the ground has been a real problem and kills the 60 ft times, the swing arm should help. In a few weeks I plan to get back to the track to see what it can do. Stay tuned.

looks pretty similar to the header on my zr7-s, ditto for that oil cooler..course my ole zr7 is/was basicly the last hurrah of the GPZ line still air cooled in 2003

Where are you racing? Any plans to hit a full quarter or are you optimizing it for the eighth?

Hillsboro Drag-Away, opened about 2 years ago. It's a converted airstrip about 40 minutes away. I do plan on a trip to Rock Falls Raceway to see what it will do on the 1/4 mile.

It's off the lift. Chain guard needs to go on and that's about it. Took a quick shakedown run, nothing fell off and the front wheel isn't nearly as light. 😁
In 2 weeks it's going to the track.
