We showed up just after lunch they had a bit of rain around 11 but the track was dry. we watched time trials and saw some fast lx's and some nice muscle mopars. Some guy was even running his Newport.
Just before the classes started they staged a 2000ish Maxima and some other off brand junk. Then there was a couple of serious looking cars a 71 Pinto and a 67 Camaro. The Camaro sounded tough rolling through the pits and got a single pass before the Pinto. The bowtie blew something off on the launch and proceeded to stay in it all the way down the track sputtering and clunking the whole way. Oiled down the whole lane from start to finish. Disapointing.
It was the kids first time at the drag races and they really like the action. The track cleanup made daddy grumpy and the kids restless. So we checked out the show cars and tried to salvage the afternoon with a trip to Shaw's for some ice cream.
missed it this year, but i was waving at root beer brown dart on a trailer behind a camper while i was at work friday afternoon. I seen that car once before crossing on the ferry into Michigan.
Totally meant to go, but the weather report said 80% chance of rain, and that's a 2.5hr. trip for me for a rain out. So we pulled the pin, unfortunately. Crapp.
We run Grand Bend this Fri. if the weather holds.
Stratford Weekend will be the big one for us this year. Quickly becoming one of the premier weekends in Ont. Well worth looking into. They treat the low buck guys like us pretty much the same as the higher classes, which really makes us feel welcome.
