Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

Don, there were push pins with the grille, but not like those & they were not original, there's supposed to be plastic inserts & screws on the header panel, oh yea, on that car the grille never did make it into the trunk.
my "aftermarket" grille hardware.
lower left is off the 74 & the spare header, lower right off the 73

68, I think you may have something there, gotta pull my new cardboard & the jute & see what that looks like, maybe there's some "hardware" in there to compare? Rich.

Yes at that angle it does look darker, I always thought the red looked out of place, but the plain gray ones were to plain, so the lesser of 2 evils? Rich.

Cool job Rich!!!!! I have been keeping up with your thread at CCC but it looks like this one has much more detail. Glad to see you are getting to the end of the long road :bravo:

Could not get the top screw in the drivers side headlight benzel & after cracking the grille figgered I better wait till spring when it will have a little more give:huh:
Also managed to break my front bumper filler, had it nailed to the work bench trying to stretch it back out, broke the end off pulling the nail!:wtf:
Anyway I'm gonna see if I can move the bumper back some & make the gap smaller, if not I'll figger something out!:shifty:, maybe a sheet metal filler:toot:
So as always, slight progress with 4 more problems!:gaga:

So been dicking around in the garage for weeks, not getting much of anything done.
Ordered the grille hardware bout 2 weeks ago & still no response from rt specialtie on shipping so I dug thru 40 more bags of old hardware & went ahead & put the grile in.
managed to crack it way in the back by passenger headlight, forgot to tap out the 2 nuts on the header & could not get the grille back out, well once it cracked I decided not to even try, tapped out the nuts with it on & just scratched the edge of the top piece, maybe too cold for this but I got tired of waiting!

Don't know how long the paint will stay on but I finished off the door panels the last couple of days, Rusty's custom panels, I'll make yours just as bad for 800 bucks!:shifty:

trying to make something out of my beat up emblems, tail panel "by plymouth" in car color.
broken 'Cuda340 one will replace the flat script one on the dash & the door panels get car color backround:huh: Rich.

Is it paint or vinyl dye? Either way if you cleaned & prepped it good, on hard plastic they both stick. If it's soft vinyl the paint won't stay long.:(

But they surrrre look nice.;)

Hmmmm, no tellin what will happen here, it's por 15, many coats of primer to smooth em out, a couple of coats of krylon semi flat black, but that was marring too easy, so i shot a couple a coats of orangasol black(tail panel paint) with hardener in it, hoping it will hold up better, so far not really, putting em back in the basement now till next spring, then i'll do the thum nail test! Rich.

Getting close on the side glass alignment, pass side just top of door glass is out too far, have the lower bracket all the way outboard & see won't pull in anymore, rear glass may go out a tad further, but I don't think enough to seal (door glass is 1/4" off the weatherstrip!)
