Rusty's not very quiet cuda progress

Hmmmmmmm, don't really have one, guess i'll continue to clean up & get interior parts ready, wait till after tax time to see if there's any 'Cuda money , if so buy all the new brake stuff & get that in, put her together piece by piece, get the new windshield & have that & the rear glass installed, then it's back to the body, line up the panels do all the touch ups & shoot nine coats a clear so maybe if I sand off 5 or 6 it might be close to decent! Rich.

:bwuhaha:
That's a good one Rich, you're probably being much harder on it and yourself than you deserve. Although I can't see it in person, it's looking pretty nice from the pictures you post. I guess if you put anything on thick enough you can sand out the wowies. Wonder if I could put some clear coat on me thick enough to sand out my wowies and lumps. After careful consideration, nope, couldn't ever get it thick enough, it'd need to be about a foot thick and I probably wouldn't be able to sit down very good.
:bravo:

Well Plum , your about my age, so i say short of a miracle were both beyond help! :toot:
[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica]Messed with some little things today, went to pick up the header flange gasket & it wasn't in yet, but ordered the plug wires, a spade remover tool so I can change out the bad connector I have on the harness & am getting a price on the entire brake system to see when I can buy.The guy will also press on bearings if I buy the complete set from him, says around 150, bearings seals & the press job, sounds good to me, what yas think.
Anyway i put the one flange gasket i had on & just bolted the other one tight, dang, do I really need a gasket, pretty quiet now!
fixed the oil leak at the sender, checked the rad, she slowly looses the pressure, but no leaks showed up, so I filled the antifreeze & put 15 lbs on it again, slowly drops, but again no leaks show, so I ran the motor , before on revs you could see it pull through the radiator, almost dead center, now nothing??????????????
Now I can actually listen to the motor, still sounds smooth.
Messed with the timing & got the wires seperated for now, no specs in the manuel, just says look at emmissions sticker on the car, don't think I have one??????? anyway I left it at top dead center, messed a little each way & didn't seem to make much difference, forgot to take off the vac hose, will do it that way next time, is there a basic starting point I should work from?
ran her out of gas, refilled another 5 gals & last i made a little longer stud for the air cleaner, the one he had grabbed about 2 threads on each end! nothin great, but some little things taken care of, Rich.
Oh yea, I tightened the alt belt, thanks Gio!(well & Greg)

Took it easy today, just started her up & checked for leaks, rad is still full(last time I left it full there was a puddle under the rad the next day)
Rear seal on the tranny is holding(ran it in drive a while) but the yoke is pitted so thats a ?
Still got a little oil running down the bell housing after fixing the sending unit.
Moved the battery over to the 74 & tried to start that up, seems i ran that outta gas too, gas bills going up, miles = 0 , gotta save some so I can drive these things! :(
Anyway, no great progress to post a pic of, so just shot a few of the more complete bay! Rich

Well.... kinda....sorta.... all I had laying around was artisian metal polish(mild abrasive) so I tried it on one of the worst ones, it actually did take out a couple a small scratches, so thats how I cleaned up the others, works great on the stainless rings too! :toot: Rich.

Try this stuff called Flitz. Works GREAT!! 69 and I came across it a few years back at one of the swap meets. We bought a few tubes and went to poliching quite a few things. Stuff is K I L L E R!!!!!

sooo, just to get this clear in my mind, you bought a tube of stuff and polished something of 69's? Or you 69ed and both polished each other? Help a sick man out, will yah? :hmmm:

Donned the LJ's & got the front rotors & brakes on, not too bad, just the hands frooze, hard to greese bearings with gloves on! :dgt:
Started snowing a bit, decided to move back inside after sticking the door panels into the shell for winter storage!
All the new goodies up front!

Had just enough time to set up one of the rears in the shop before I had to get pack to cleaning up the house after the paint job I finished this am, glad THAT'S over!
hopefully in the next few days I can pull the axels & get the new gaskets on & finish up the rears.
Looks like I got all the right break parts (the first time) this time, did have to exchange the outer bearings though  anyway stioll waiting on the intermidiate e brake cable , will order the front from yr one, so someday I will, well maybe, have brakes! [smilie=f: Rich.
