Let it run for bout a half hour today, still sounds bad, played with the timing(by ear, no light handy) but temp came up to 190 & stayed, even though it's a little low on antifreeze I thing it's the rad leaking, but can't pinpoint it yet.
so i prepped the tail panel & bombed it black, was hopin to clear it too but messed up around the lights(you'd think I'd learn by now not to shoot all the angles at once  )Maybe I can sand it & get it cleared over the weekend!

I don't like the sounding bad part but it's great you got it going. Any ideas on what it is that's sounding so bad?

Seems mostly in the valve train, not tapping, much deeper, might be firing at the wrong time, idle up a little & it quiets down , gonna wait on an experianced ear before I tear into anything. Rich.

Couple of plugwires switched?:hmmm:

Checked em 3 times, not to say I still didn't get something wrong, pulled each wire while it was running today(cept the back 2 drivers side, damn headers) & they were all firing, noticable difference in the eng each time, now I did notice leakage thru the stainless covers on the drivers side(got a few tingles out of em) so new wires will be ordered someday. maybe this weekend i'll pull em all & start from scratch again, 4 times might be the charm? Rich.

Have you got a vacuum guage? (maybe borrow one):shifty:

A vacuum reading tells a lot.;)

Greg's gonna be up that way next week from what I hear, I'll send the Cooling System pressure tester along and also a timing light. Anything else ya need, just yell!

Hmmmm, might have one from work, definatly have a water column guage, but thats pretty sensitive, oh yea, what the heck do I read? [smilie=f: Rich.

Connect it to manifold vacuum and watch the needle at idle and when you hit the throttle. Make note of what the needle does throughout the RPM changes.;)

Not much on the car, messed up the tail panel, so I'll wait till the spray gun is out to shoot that again, maybe sat I'll take a stab at those flex plate to eng bolts if it's not too cold.
one spot shows in the pic, the worst one doesn't ! Rich.
